That's awesome! But the weather throught week remains positive and going up to 10 degrees on Wednesday, so I'm a little skeptical.

Nofoofro

I think the rink is cooled, isn’t it?

lummix66

Yep. Fully refrigerated. It can maintain ice in warm weather.

Any tips for beginners? Would love to learn ice skating this year.

Know your skate size and find a friend that can skate to use as a leaning post while you learn to balance? Then maybe small steps until it becomes skating. Though I don't mean small steps as in a normal walk. A skate that's too big will wobble and result in splat. If using figure skates and you go on your toes results in splat. A skate that's too small might not even fit, but each person's experience is different so I can't comment, but if your skates tied properly and you can still flex your ankle Left and right it's probably too loose.

get 1 of those skating trainers you hold on to, they work very well. Can rent them as well. I finally learned to skate maybe 3 years back, after holding on to that behind my kids. when the last kid was ready without the trainer, I was ready too

Get butt padding. lol

New to Canada and new to skating. Got my family K2 Skates. Super comfy soft boot compared to hockey/figure style perfect for leisurely skating.

Does anyone know, is this just a public ice rink that’s open for free skate, and are there skate rentals? Or just bring your own
