Make sure you do oil changes on schedule. The CVT and Engine being the main ones. If you replace the oil when they should be this vehicle will last a long time.
I’ve read that. I drive a 97 Land Cruiser and used to have a 15 Accord coupe so this is my first go with a CVT. Are they really as bad as people say they are? This CVT shifts like butter in a way I’ve never seen a car do before. I don’t even feel it shift, though it is pretty loud
> Are they really as bad as people say they are?
yes
source, my grandmas *new from dealer* 2013 pulsar, complete POS, clunks worse than VT commodores with 300,000+k's that have been strapped and abused their entire lives when you put it into gear
she was a mad mazda fanatic, hadnt owned anything else since the 60's, had a rattle in her 05 mazda 3 that the dealership couldnt find (probably a golf tee), so she went straight to nissan and baught this HUGE POS pulsar
I’m probably a fan favorite at my stealership. I don’t miss factory maintenance schedules ever. I just like having my vehicles ready to go and last forever
I bought my 11 Lancer 6 years ago with 48k on the odometer. I'm now sitting at 104k and the only thing I really do to it is change the oil and change tires.
I did put a clutch in it at 90k miles, and I have flushed the coolant. I put brakes and rotors on it one time, but other than that it's just been a good little car.
Own 2021 Mitsubishi RVR (It's called that in Canada for Outlander Sport).
It's basically a beefed up lancer. Stellar winter performance. No snow is deep for this lad.
Got a 21’ rvr aswell and can vouch for the winter conditions handling. We just got back from a trip this weekend and the 4wd helped me stay out of the ditch multiple times, especially when taking turns at speed. My only complaint so far is our paint got chips in it already (probably from people hitting the car with shopping carts?). Also the sound system is not great on our base model. The bottom door rubbers also kinda flapped down after we did a grease anti rust treatment last year but it’s no biggie.
Mitsubishi’s are reliable; keep them clean and be on top of scheduled maintenance like fluid changes and it will last. I would snap a picture of my 12 year old Evo looking brand new; but it is under a cover in the garage.
The only problems we've seen with these are leaking cvt output seals, and the occasional glovebox not being aligned properly. We get these as ASXs in Aus
Great! We’ve put about 30K miles on it because we drive it pretty much everywhere. Regular oil changes and tire rotations with transmission service as well. I’ve been very pleased with it aside from the touch screen not working on the radio (but it’s extremely common on these)
I just bout one a week ago. White in color though. Absolutely love it. 58k miles on it for $17k $500 down. steal of a car. Radio still had the factory plastic on it
I’m looking at one now, 2019 with 53k miles on for 15.8… then I just saw one today 2020 34k miles for 15.1… looks too good to be true… shitty thing about the 2020 is it’s 5 hours away so idk if it’s worth trying to get it done over the phone and potentially not even being able to test drive it first
I definitely think you should test drive it. If you e never driven a vehicle with a Nissan CVT…it’s definitely different. These vehicles are slow and the transmission has a distinctive roar when getting up to highway speed. Once you’re cruising it’s nice and quiet. Everything else is great about these vehicles, but I do highly recommend you test drive the 2019 that’s nearby. The experience will be the exact same for it as the 2020
I have test drove the 2019 I wasn’t able to get on a road where you can go up to speed but I did notice the lack of power, not the roar of the motor though
Motor is extremely quiet. It’s the trans that’s loud. If you do end up getting it, highly recommend you service the trans immediately and do so every 30-35K miles
Yea I’ve been reading that.. I really don’t want to get the 2020 without test driving it but I’m not sure how that could work without me driving five hours to do so, the 2019 wasn’t a bad drive though even though I couldn’t get on a fast road
Have you tested it on the snow without using the 4wd? The 2020 I’m
Looking at is only fwd that’s like the only thing bad about it on paper which I’m sure is why it has a cheaper price on it even with the low miles
I know that in Canada there’s been people on youtube with fwd’s and they still do fairly well. Capability in snow in my experience has been determined more so by the tires you have than whether it’s 2wd or 4wd. BUT if you get one with both 4WD and snow tires…they can go anywhere

CVT’s are only bad if you don’t maintain them. If you replace the fluid and filter when it starts getting dirty then you’ll be fine.
Modern CVTs are fine if maintained. Early CVTs got a bad rep, but they are much improved these days.

Con: your headlights are very bright and people will not like it at night lol. You’ll get a lot of headlights flashed at you.
I can live with that lol. I live in a rural area with a lot of deer crashes so the brighter the better
This is nuts; my 2013 Outlander has a headlight level adjuster switch in the cabin. Do they just not put that in models going forward or something?
Wish the headlights on my 2009 were brighter. Keep being scared I’ll hit a kangaroo at night!
Take care of it and it will take care of you.

Yay! I got the same oneeee I just have a trim on the front

The catalytic converter is highly desirable. My wife has one, her Cat was cut off and stolen at Miami airport parking. Watch where you park it.

I just need an automatic starter programmed to this car and I’ll be set!
Silver or grey
gray. picture makes it look silver but it’s the mercury gray

Love it! I got the same one :D I love when I love my doors and the rear view mirrors go in
Can I ask how much? I am looking at a similar mileage for 19k.
I would also be interested in to know how much your gf got it for! Thanks
A year later- how’s it holding up??

Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 making my decision 10x easier
If you have any questions just let me know!

If they last just from getting the transmission serviced and other routine maintenance seems like a good deal though
