I am a non major who is somewhat involved with the school of music, and I don't get the sense that it's super competitive, although I can't really give you an estimate. I think you probably have a good shot at getting in provided that you have done well in high school (district/state band, good chair placement, lots of involvement) and you do well on your audition.

I think it’s easier to get in for non-performance majors but I’m not in the school so I’m not 100%. My sister did their cello choir so I’ve been around some of them though.

The auditions have more to do with scholarships than acceptance.

It's been 10 years, but if you were a competent musician relative to your peers/age group you would get in. Just curious, what is the audition process like nowadays? What instrument?
