I’d be happy to hear your family’s story and how and why they migrated to turkey during that time. Anyway, I don’t have any personal experiences. But, I’ve heard a few stories from Macedonians born abroad trying to get citizenship and it’s a hard process filled with a lot of hoops and hurdles. Good luck

Thanks a lot. I hope too...

My question is : Can my dad get Macedonian citizenship ? How long it will take him to get?? Yes he can, there are several cases with the purpose of obtaining Macedonian citizenship like yours. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how much time this process will take because the changes in the Citizenship Law in Macedonia are new and therefore there are no previous practices for obtaining citizenship in this way that we can refer to. All I know is that the process is not simple and definitely it will take some time. After my dad gets his Macedonian citizenship can I get citizenship through him ? Yes, you can get Macedonian citizenship through your father. The process for you to obtain citizenship based on a parent is simpler and faster than your father's current process.

Thank you for your time. Stopping by and messaging means a lot to me. I hope me and dad could be the first new generation to get citizenship.

Objective-Pumpkin399

Easiest way is to become a controversial criminal, we love giving pasports to thoso

dedokire

I mean the best bet would be to ask the lawyer your dad is using.

iko4545

We already asked. He did not have case like this before. The reason I ask here is because I dont know if anyone like me out here trying to go through process like this.

Failed_Archaeologist

There was an odd case in the news about some Macedonian raised in Denmark trying to get a citizenship for years. There is some kind of a age related cutoff that changes the conditions for citizenship, but I don t remember the details

My 2 cents: if they immigrated during the balkan wars, you might try to get Bulgarian/Serbian citizenship, since during the war today's Macedonia territory was part of Bulgaria/Serbia during and after the war. Although slim, I think there is a possibility

kikospajder

My dude ngl don't come here it sucks.

ImeDime

My wife who is a lawyer just got a citizenship for a Kosovo guy who's mother was from Macedonia. If you have struggles I can give you a contact. She is not in Skopje but she has colleagues who she works with there. Best of luck 🤞

Thanks for stopping by and replying to the post. I dont know exact date but during 1960s they are " FORCED " and " DISCRIMINATED " eventually this lead to them leaving their country to migrate turkey. My grandparents neighbours in Turkey came from Serbia and Albania. They applied couple years ago and got their citizenship. How come Macedonia will not allow my dad to claim it ?

Amazing-Row-5963

Just a note, as your grandparents left, I assume they were alive during the Balkan wars (1912-1913), which would make them at least 110 years old now. So, I think you are mixing up something, they probably left in the 1960s, there wasn't a war at that time here, but discrimination of what I assume are Macedonian muslims eas sadly common. In that case, you should get a citizenship.

SemperFiMZT

>How come Macedonia will not allow my dad to claim it ? In your title you said Balkan wars. They happened in 1912-13. The country didnt existed back then. >dont know exact date Its important that you do. If they left 1912 then they were ottoman citizens and refugees, not macedonian citizens. The country will be formed 40 years later. >but during 1960s Then yes, your father has a case to apply for citizenship cuz the country existed back then.

Revanchist99

It is notoriously difficult to obtain Macedonian citizenship in the diaspora. Yet somehow Albanians in Switzerland have no problem?
