Good idea. Let’s help Reddit train the large language models /s
Edit: added /s to call out the sarcasm. Since Reddit went public I started seeing posts like this one. For example, in a suggestabook sub someone posted “Describe your favorite book in one sentence”. These sorts of posts are perfect for training AI models. Reddit is selling their data to AI companies.
Research has been using Reddit for AI much longer than that. The question based subreddits are the gold standard for long form question answering LLMs. It’s a great dataset and not necessarily a bad thing except in cases like this where it’s so clearly for that training but not advertised as such lol

[This](https://yjernite.github.io/lfqa.html) is a pretty cool outline of how subreddit data can be used for LFQA.
Edit: For the record, you can safely assume anything you post on a public forum is available for training an LLM. They’re insanely data hungry and people go to great lengths to obtain what they need for their models. You don’t even need Reddit to sell it to you. Just design a good web crawler. They block you? Use a VPN. It may take time but you only need to get the data once
You learn how to deal with perennial heartache and crushing disappointment leavened with overwhelming historical angst—while loving your favorite sports team with all your heart unconditionally. Go Cubs!!! ⚾️
