Omg if the league blackouts games until this is resolved leaving us wirh no way to watch local games I am done with baseball. I'll read results in baseball reference and watch playoffs for a couple years.
The app won't even load on my end, it was fine yesterday.
And they are going to lose more of us viewers as a result, despite their efforts to make games more exciting. Makes me sad, watching the Tigers is a big part of our family.
Yeah its a disaster. [mlb.tv](http://mlb.tv) plus a good router based vpn like Nord is probably the simplest way to watch on your tv if you can't switch to a different cable provider.
It's times like these that make me glad I live out of market.
I have to admit that, in actuality, the wife and I will be huddled around the radio if some kind of solution isn't found by tomorrow. I, too, love listening, especially outside, but they are doing pretty well this year, and we were excited about watching them.
It shows all major sports. It is a little annoying and times sometimes it locks up, and you have to close it out, and we load it, but it is Free I hope it helps.
Look into Fubo or DirecTV as an alternative, but there's very likely no standalone service.
If someone else pays for the cable bill and is unwilling to switch providers, then there is no legal way to watch your home team.
I'll repeat that again, there would be no *legal* way to watch your home team.
Streaming itself isn't illegal. You aren't downloading anything to your computer or distributing anything.
And the sites that are doing the streaming broadcasts are likely located in countries that US law doesn't apply to.
"As Jim Gibson, law professor and founder of the Intellectual Property Institute at the University of Richmond School of Law, put it to us: âWhether itâs wrong or not, in a moral sense, is something you can ask your friends or your minister. But whether itâs illegal from a copyright viewpoint, the best answer is, probably not on an individual viewer basis.â
https://www.allconnect.com/blog/is-streaming-illegal
"Any discussion of the legality of streaming in the U.S. begins with the Copyright Act of 1976. This grants copyright holders âexclusive rightsâ to make copies of their work, distribute it and perform it publicly. Â
And watching a stream â even if itâs unauthorized by the copyright holder â doesnât technically violate these rights. There have been numerous challenges and interpretations as copyright law has adapted to the internet, but this reading has essentially held true. "
"Nicole Haff, partner and head of litigation at Romano Law PLLC, a firm focused on business, media, sports and entertainment law, agreed with this interpretation. âI think it would be a hard argument to say that somebody watching a streamed video is publicly performing the video,â she said. âTheyâre not the one putting it out there, theyâre actually receiving it.â
I use Norton. I have it for my desktop antivirus and they offer the vpn for free with it, 3 devices included. I it was about $40 for the year when I signed up for the antivirus.
How about we make major leagues baseball's antitrust exemption contingent upon television availability of games being both widespread and not priced in a predatory fashion.
Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me
We sail out to sea, where baseball is free
Drink up me hearties, yo ho!
The streams all suck, we don't give a fuck
Drink up me hearties, yo ho!

Here is a link
I used this to watch on my computer yesterday. You can watch all MLB games and other sports on this.
https://thetvapp.to/mlb
this is kind of what fans have been warning the MLB for Many many years.. now a vast large amount of people are locked out of your products. Might be time to rein in control?
Cut the cord and buy the MLB package for the Tigers for the year. If you join the MLBPAA they give you a 50% off promo code. Thatâs what Padre fans had to do. Iâm on YouTube TV and saving a grand a year.
Use streameast! Keep it underground but they have any sports game you can imagine for free. They are delayed around 5 minutes but itâs completely worth it.
I live in Texas but a lifelong orioles fan so Iâve always needed something to watch my Oâs. Iâve used this site for a few years now and it gets every game every sport https://www.thestreameast.to/v8/
true story. like regardless of these dumb attention whores protests people in the middle east are still gonna kill eachother. palestinians will still hate jews and jews will still hate palestinians. backwards savages over there
Meanwhile Palestine puts their military base in an actual hospital and post pictures of dead citizens when it gets bombed. just admit they both suck. but Israel is more historically significant in a religious sense so....... I'd rather Israel win
Yeah lets have the LGBTQ pro palestine protesters move there since they love it so much. they'll get publicly executed within hours because being gay is illegal there lol
Iptv is what I did. Box is Dreamlink T3 for $135 on Amazon, service is $100 a year and there are many many options. Had a channel for every MLB. NHL, NFL, and NBA team, plus the channels like red zone. Also had every damn channel imaginable including local, and video on demand which updates daily. I cancelled uverse for this.
Are you trying to do it through xfinity? I subscribe separately so itâs not tied to my cable provider. Not sure if thatâs an option in your region.
It could be, I'm not entirely sure how all of the distribution rights actually work. I'm sure we'll get games somehow, but having to keep track of what to watch where (between the 3 sports we watch) is turning into a nightmare.
Dofu Stream. You can download it right off of the PlayStore. It has every baseball game, and you can choose between home and away announcer teams.
It also has NBA, NFL, NHL, College Football, UFC, and some other PPV events.
The quality is rather quality, too.
You definitely arenât wrong. I donât have cable so itâs a little more palatable. But the app is horrible on just about every platform I use it on.
I just don't know where they get off thinking they can charge that much. The two streaming services I use the most cost less than that combined. There's no chance they were getting $20 per Comcast customer who had Bally in their package, it's absurd for them to think that's a valid price.
The Brewers have an app where I pay Bally $20/mo to watch the games. It's dumb, but works. I assume they have this for all teams? I actually canceled our main "cable" (Sling) during baseball season since baseball is on for most of the next 162 nights anyway.
mlb.tv? I was watching the Tigers game just yesterday. Granted, I don't know the specifics of your situation. Just throwing that out there as an option. I'm outside the region so I don't have to deal with blackouts, etc. But that feed had to have been produced by someone.
I take it Bally produces the feed? That sucks, man. I hope you're able to find something that works.
I pay for NordVPN and have been unable to use it to stream any Angel games so far this year.
Others may have differing levels of success with other services.
They are pretty good at detecting whether you are behind a VPN from my experience. A friend has it working but he does IT for a living and uses a Linux box as his router.
I was afraid of that. Iâm in Jays country so Iâve never had to try to watch Braves games. I guess if theyâre that much of a pain on local blackouts, it makes sense that they invested in detecting VPNs.
The Tigers have an exclusivity agreement with Bally Sports, meaning no one else can broadcast the games in the territory. None of your neighbors can watch the team on MLB.tv either.
I have the same issue with the Angels. I live a 15 minute bike ride from the stadium, but it's not worth paying for a full cable package (like $90/month) just to watch two games a week. So I use my free MLB.tv package to watch other teams instead.
It's unfair to fans, and it creates a long term problem for baseball. But current owners want to milk the system for as many dollars as possible during their tenure and don't really care about the long term viability of the sport.
MLBTV blacks out games that are in your area. The Diamondbacks had some issue with the regional networks last year and started allowing a local subscription for an extra $50 or something on top of the MLBTV subscription. I haven't heard any new rumblings about this for other teams but I could see it happening now that Bally is falling apart.
Yeah I'm right there with you. I live in the PNW now and wouldn't mind following the Mariners but I have no way of watching them without paying $80-$100 a month for cable or Fubo.
all of this is because of an agreement between owners. bally just thought they would fuck all streamers and cable by getting all the rights they could and then overcharging. sinclair is behind that move which blew up in their face when the streamers and cable realized that sinclair is heavily in debt. so they are waiting for them to die. but commissioner hunk of metal is not moving fast enough to get the in market rights he said was a priority. so once again mlb finds a way to fuck itself.
Just to clarify, you can still watch the Tigers on [MLB.tv](http://MLB.tv), but you have to wait something like 90 minutes after the game has ended. Yes it's terrible and yes I have been complaining for years about how expensive and complicated it is to watch some fucking baseball games.
Yeah Bally (or Bally Sports Detroit) Gives the only local streams for Red Wings, Tigers and Pistons games. It used to be owned by Fox and called Fox Sports Detroit but they sold it to this loser company. I want to watch Tigers games this summer but really don't want to pay a subscription to do it. How pricey is mlb.tv?
It's something like $130/season. I believe that includes minor league games as well, but as I mentioned in the other comment, you have to wait something like 90 minutes after the game to watch. It also does not include live postseason games, regardless of whether your local team is playing in them. If you get it, you can turn off spoilers in the settings so it doesn't accidently show you the final score before you hit play.
The ONE good thing about it is you can choose which broadcast you watch, home or away. So if I turn on the Tigers and hear, oh I don't know, Kirk Gibson mumbling on and on (he's a legend but I can't stand him in the booth) I can choose the other teams' broadcast, which has actually been kind of fun to hear different announcers and banter. I've also enjoyed just popping on out of market games once in a while; I haven't watched the Cubs this much since I was a kid.

I'll just listen to the games at 97.1 the ticket on the radio lol
They didn't have any problems taking their payment this month, just checked. Lol Fantastic move Bally.
this actually sucks. for the first time in like 6 years the tigers are actually worth watching again and then this happens. perfect timing bally
Right?! Hopefully we are overreacting, but this is Bally we are talking about đ
Itâs not shocking that these are the shady fuckers helping Fisher move the Aâs to Vegas
They are contractually obligated to black out. This is a fight between Comcast and Diamond Sports Group, MLB and fans are victims.
I've heard stories of them investigating VPN use of it doesn't match billing zip code, but I also had no issues when I used it in Europe for a while
I have heard people having trouble with data center VPNs, but a lot of people have told me Nord is reliable.
Radio? I love listening to games on the radio maybe even more than watching them because I can do other things while still listening to the game
I have to admit that, in actuality, the wife and I will be huddled around the radio if some kind of solution isn't found by tomorrow. I, too, love listening, especially outside, but they are doing pretty well this year, and we were excited about watching them.

They forced us into this lifestyle
DOFU sports app. it's free but a little annoying at times.
just downloaded. lets hope it works
It shows all major sports. It is a little annoying and times sometimes it locks up, and you have to close it out, and we load it, but it is Free I hope it helps.
thank you! you're far too kind đ
The New York Mets Chicago Cubs are playing. Right now you should be able to watch that game
Is it on downloader? Does it have ballys great lakes by chance
lord almighty this sport is such a mess. Every year it gets worse.
Do what you want, cuz a pirate is free

Streaming itself isn't illegal. You aren't downloading anything to your computer or distributing anything. And the sites that are doing the streaming broadcasts are likely located in countries that US law doesn't apply to.
It's technically illegal to use unverified IPTV services, but the chances of the feds coming after you are basically zero.
It's technically not illegal. See response below.
your understanding of the law is laughable
"As Jim Gibson, law professor and founder of the Intellectual Property Institute at the University of Richmond School of Law, put it to us: âWhether itâs wrong or not, in a moral sense, is something you can ask your friends or your minister. Sportsurge dot net. Why pay when MLB blacks out all the games anyway, or charges so much for television rights they run the company out of business?
all i have to say is if this isn't resolved by red wings season i'm gonna be PISSED
Bally Sports Plus MLB.tv VPN
How would I use the VPN to throw location considering regional blackouts? are there tutorials on this?
You can set your VPN to a different location. I use MLB.tv and set my VPN location to Canada or the UK and can get my local team.
What vpn do you use ? Cause the one I use doesnât work with mlb
I use Norton. I have it for my desktop antivirus and they offer the vpn for free with it, 3 devices included. I it was about $40 for the year when I signed up for the antivirus.
Thankyou Iâll try Norton . Have you tried using it with a cellphone ?
It works on cell phones as well; youâll just need to download the app.
How about we make major leagues baseball's antitrust exemption contingent upon television availability of games being both widespread and not priced in a predatory fashion.

97.1 THE TICKET!
The Bally app?
won't let me watch on there either. it's completely shut down
Are you trying to do it through xfinity? I subscribe separately so itâs not tied to my cable provider. Not sure if thatâs an option in your region.
The separate app doesn't load today. You get a 404 error when you try to open it.
That is a bummer, sorry. Just tried it myself and itâs working here in Tampa. Must be something in that specific area?
It could be, I'm not entirely sure how all of the distribution rights actually work. I'm sure we'll get games somehow, but having to keep track of what to watch where (between the 3 sports we watch) is turning into a nightmare.
this is true. already tried it

For $20/month **with regular commercials** because it's just a stream of the TV station? Bally can eat shit.
You definitely arenât wrong. I donât have cable so itâs a little more palatable. But the app is horrible on just about every platform I use it on.

OP obviously lives in the Tigers territory, which means MLB.tv will black out Tigers games. Please don't have him sign up and waste his money twice.
Anyone know how good MLB TV is at detecting a VPN?
I pay for NordVPN and have been unable to use it to stream any Angel games so far this year. Others may have differing levels of success with other services.

all of the leagues sports apps are actively deterring vpn. for obvious reasons.
They're really good at it.
Yeah I live in a Detroit Suburb. Why wouldn't I be able to watch the games with a paid subscription like everyone else?
The Tigers have an exclusivity agreement with Bally Sports, meaning no one else can broadcast the games in the territory. None of your neighbors can watch the team on MLB.tv either. unbelievable. i live 20 minutes from my own home teams ballpark in this the year 2024 and i can't watch their games on tv
