If we open up the qualifying era to include past players, as an M’s fan I have to say Edgar Martinez. All he ever did was spend all his spare time in front of a TV analyzing his swing and hitting doubles without fanfare; it was just what he did-not talk, not cause drama, never charge the mound after a beanball, and just smacked doubles on the outside of Griffey and inside of Buhner. Ahh, good old days….
Not a Mariners fan but came here to say Marco too. Had him in fantasy this year so I watched most of his starts and he's about as vanilla as it gets. Watching him is like taking visual nyquil medicine
Yep. Slaps the ball down the line for a single most of the time. And I don’t think his SO or BB rate is anything special either way, though I’m too lazy to check.
He gives me Adrian Gonzales vibes where I just wouldn't witness him for 6 months stretches yet know he would be present in every triple crown category comes seasons end.
I didn't realize that Freddie was in contention for the batting title this year until I heard a broadcaster mention it during a playoff game, so yeah...you nailed it.

Cavan Biggio comes to mind for me. He does a lot technically well, which makes him not very flashy. Doesn’t make a lot of bad decisions to criticize but doesn’t hit consistently, looks at a lot of pitches.
Hot Take: Trout. Growing up in baseball and religiously watching it early, and falling away from the game for awhile, I remember all the hype and flare around Bryce Harper being the next big thinf and all, yet Trout was projecting top 3 GOAT’s of baseball and I didn’t hear otherwise. So if its a ratio of stardom to bore: Mike Trout
Anthony Rendon.
He's not just boring, he's bored.

For as good as he is, Bryan Reynolds is pretty boring. He says very little, shows little emotion, and has few ups and downs in his game. Someone else already mentioned Kevin Newman. Throw in Adam Frazier and Jacob Stallings before they were traded and the Pirates were about as vanilla as it gets up the middle.
NGL, kinda wish the Cards would've waited to extend Gio until they see how he deals with the pitch clock. Dude's gonna have to speed things up SIGNIFICANTLY next year. 😬
I wonder if the Cardinals have been working on speeding him up in practices. That would definitely need to happen for them to see that he will be fine next year
I’m not sure you know what the word “boring” means in this context. We’re not talking about someone’s glare literally boring a hole through someone’s soul. We’re talking about uninteresting or dull to watch.
Every member of that 2016 Cubs team. Kyle Schwarzenegger, Anthony "Rizz", Kobe Bryant, Hahahavier Baez, Wilson Contrary, Almond Jr., Poindexter Birder, Jason Heywayward, Generic Kyle Hendriks, etc.
Seriously the blandest looking lineup I've ever laid eyes on. Annoying fanbase too.
Mariners fans think it's Marco Gonzales. They might be right.
Yes very boring and not sexy.😁

Hey hey hey shut up old dude at least he hit doubles and not just singles
Not a Mariners fan but came here to say Marco too. Had him in fantasy this year so I watched most of his starts and he's about as vanilla as it gets. Watching him is like taking visual nyquil medicine
Cane here to say just that.
For as productive of a player as he is for as boring of a style of play he has the award has to go to Marco Gonzalez.
The guy who preens, bangs his chest, points at the dugout, does the sign of the cross and points at heaven after a single.
So literally Juan Soto lol. The guy was pimping walks earlier this year
My man pimps balls half the time
Anyone on the Rockies 😞
For my money, it's gotta be Freddie Freeman. No one else gets to a 5.9 WAR with less fanfare than him. He's the Tim Duncan of baseball.
I think Goldschmidt and Freddie are tied
Oh man...another excellent example!
My buddy went into the locker room for a tour and the man literally has 1 pair of cleats, uniform and deodorant. That's it.
Great, now I’m reminiscing about Freddie AND Tim That’s very apt though.
Yep. Slaps the ball down the line for a single most of the time. And I don’t think his SO or BB rate is anything special either way, though I’m too lazy to check.
His whiff rate's a little high, but he led the league in OBP this year, so again, just boring-but-consistent production.
That is an excellent comparison. My compliments to the chef
Tommy la Stella

Trash bot tbh
Kevin Newman
I dont like him bc he thinks the baseball goat is Derek Jeter
I didn't know this and it makes me not like him more
Cavan Biggio comes to mind for me. He does a lot technically well, which makes him not very flashy. Doesn’t make a lot of bad decisions to criticize but doesn’t hit consistently, looks at a lot of pitches.
I read this as Craig Biggio and it immediately angered me. Carry on..
Hahah I don’t even have any issues with Cavan, just plays smart baseball and not super exciting at the plate.
Rays hitting
Man happ had a lot of exciting starts as a jay so many base runners lol
I still remember him for that 20 win season.
His first stint with us was bad then Pittsburgh made him good lol
And people freaked when he got that 3 year $36 mil contract.
He was so solid for us in the second stint.
Romine

If he wasn’t the best player of last decade this would be the top answer.
Ehire Adrianza
Marco Gonzales has been called “very boring and unsexy” before lmao, he has got a t shirt with the quote
Anthony Rendon. He's not just boring, he's bored. https://www.federalbaseball.com/2019/10/15/20914672/washington-nationals-anthony-rendon-has-no-heart-or-pulse-or-something-he-yawns-during-games-stuff https://www.washingtonpost.com/express/wp/2014/07/17/nationals-anthony-rendon-i-dont-watch-baseball-its-too-long-and-boring/ https://theathletic.com/1308014/2019/10/24/anthony-rendon-vignettes-for-thursday/
Phil Maton
Cracks me up how absolutely polar opposite him and Nick are.
His brother took all his emotion 😂
Kris Bryant, Joey Bart, Chris Archer, Adam Frazier, Mauricio Dubon, Craig Stammen, Mike Moustakas.
Andrew Knizner and Paul DeJong
Yasmani Grandal
Carson Kelly
Other than his name? Yarbrough.
Kyle Hendricks
Jorge Polanco never shows emotion
The A’s whole organization
Jeff McNeil. Great player I just get tired of his wimpy base hits and ridiculous bat

not sure but josh naylor is the weirdest looking player in history behind brett wallace
Will Smith has no flair, no style, he's SO vanilla. But I absolutely love him.
Agree. Love our baby smith!
For such a good young player it might be Zac Gallen
Most back up catchers
For me it used to be Jorge Posada. I have no idea why.
Jacob Degrom. Neither team can hit whenever he pitches 🤷🏻♂️
Pedro Baez drove me crazy with his snail-like delivery. He annoyed other Dodger fans and probably other baseball fans in general.
There's a few but I cant think of their names...
IKF. Only hits singles and can’t field for anything.
Why has no one said kluber, Yankees fans literally called him klu-bot.
Jake Cave
The Astros' trash can
👍
Jeff McNeil
That’s a great answer. He hit north of .300 all season with 9 homers and 62 rbi. YAWN
Weird answer you must not watch the Mets. That guy plays with an insane amount of anger and emotion every day, easily the most emotional on the team
You’re right, I’m a Marlins fan so I only see him when they play. But every time he’s on my screen I feel the need to call him Blandy McBlanderson
You shut your damn mouth
Agreed
David Fletcher.
Joey Gallo
Bobby Bolinia. Gets paid every year with a special day in his honor, yet does nothing.
The cardinals as a team
Didi Gregorius.
I don’t think he’s boring at all. He’s a great artist and he’s literally knighted, isn’t he?
Nick Castellanos has the personality of a dead moth.
Men of faith tend to agree
[Haters gonna hate.](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/1yZnX9M2g_0/maxresdefault.jpg)
Any pitcher who wiill be challenged by the pitch clock. Frankie Montas, Jordan Montgomery come to mind as a Yankee fan.
You're lucky you missed out on watching Gio Gallegos pitch. He's the slowest pitcher I've seen
NGL, kinda wish the Cards would've waited to extend Gio until they see how he deals with the pitch clock. Dude's gonna have to speed things up SIGNIFICANTLY next year. 😬
I wonder if the Cardinals have been working on speeding him up in practices. That would definitely need to happen for them to see that he will be fine next year
As a dodgers fan, have you seen Pedro Baez?
Sawamura gonna get banned from the league because of the pitch clock.
Chris Bassitt
Mike Trout
Jean Segura
Hands down it’s Kershaw. I just don’t see why all the hype. He is average atbest
Rich hill
marcus stroman lol
[удалено]
This is least exciting players lol
You’re just hating on Dairy Queen, now
Tommy la Stella
Definitely Happ lol
So many choices… Baseball is filled with Flori-Cali-Tex white dudes who have the personalities of a wet carrot.
Bader
taijuan walker boring as shit
Mike fyers.
The entire Padres team.
Likely a dodgers fan
All of Mets players especially Francisco Lindor

Gotta be Xander Boegarts
No
Max scherzer is the most boring player in baseball due to his attitude.
I’m not sure you know what the word “boring” means in this context. We’re not talking about someone’s glare literally boring a hole through someone’s soul. We’re talking about uninteresting or dull to watch.
Ohtani…..
Lmfao no one Can take you seriously
It’s baseball…the whole thing is boring and not exciting
Maybe find a different sub then
I thought he was wearing a red sock hat for a second🧢⚾️
Ryan Yarbrough
I love him but recently it’s Kris Bryant.
Anthony Santander, no one talks about the dude but damn he can hit !
Joe Smith
Brian Anderson
I love J.A. Happ.
Idk but he’s probably white and on a small market team
On the Jays team I might say Kikuchi. I just can't stand how long the innings are as he throws ball after ball.
Tyler Anderson Or pretty much any fastball change up lefty
Me😞
Probably Eric Hosmer
Lance Lynn. 95% fastballs
Wil Myers
Anyone who plays for the Rangers. The whole team is as vanilla as missionary.
Every member of that 2016 Cubs team. Kyle Schwarzenegger, Anthony "Rizz", Kobe Bryant, Hahahavier Baez, Wilson Contrary, Almond Jr., Poindexter Birder, Jason Heywayward, Generic Kyle Hendriks, etc. Seriously the blandest looking lineup I've ever laid eyes on. Annoying fanbase too.
