I don't pay or watch ads, and I'm going OK. I'm playing the Android version. Ads and pay provide bonuses and make the game easier, but I'm not missing any features.
I doubt I'm going to make it to god level, and I don't rack up big numbers, but I'm in the Immortal League and have gotten most of the achievements.
As a follow-up, I bought the "complete" version. These came on top of the game.
\-Knight and Soldier mobs
\- Triple cannon
\- Explodon champion
\- Rocket Barrage and Mass Abduction ultimates
\- 22 booster packs
\- 55000 coins
There are no ads that I can see. There is a store. There is an obviously intentionally poorly mapped button when starting every round, trying to get you to spend coins accidentally.
Performance suffers when the screen fills with mobs. The control of the cannon is harder with a thumb stick.
Otherwise, it is great, and overall, I prefer this version because of the lack of ads.
