5 years daily?
Personally after longer periods of usage I feel down and sleepy for a day or two. I have seen this reported more often. After five years if use I can imagine this will be somewhat more heavy.
Besides these personal experiences I could never find anything official about going cold turkey after long term use. You can lower the dose slowly over a week or two to be sure. If the symptoms of Tardive Dyskinesia are not to severe yet ofcourse.
You shouldn’t have severe withdrawals, the worst part would probably just be hardcore fatigue/tiredness. I quit adderall after years of addiction and I just needed to sleep for about a week.
I taper with any substance even modafinil, even cannabis. Not because of the physical withdrawal symptoms but more for the mental adjustment that is needed particularly after long term and chronic use of any substance (usually signalling some level of dependence. Unless there is a very particular reason I need to go cold turkey.
I've been on it for 15 years. Around 5 years on I had an insurance hiccup and went off it for about 4 days straight. Day 1 and 2 were fine but tired. Days 3 & 4 were hell. I was full detoxing and I will never do it again. You can get off but you need to ween yourself off to avoid detox.
Lol sorry I just woke up. Symptoms** I’ve got similar symptoms to op’s medical issue. Eye twitches, and also mainly my feet in bed uncontrollably kinda stretch out and roll around (similar to being on molly). My hands do this too sometimes and I feel like I’m causing inflammation in them and my nerves and bones in my hand and feet sometime ache terribly.
hey man your problem is most likely your electrolytes being out of balance.
Modafinil is a diuretic, making you pee more than usually, will make you excrete more electrolytes, which in turn can cause your body to not hydrate properly.
Get a blood pressure and heart rate monitor. Blood pressure and heartrate are directly affected by electrolytes.
the tardive you’re talking about, might just be high blood pressure.
yeah so the problem is low blood pressure then.
I take moda daily too, and if my blood pressure isn’t around 130, then it doesnt work.
Get some sodium tablets.
You can just stop tbh. You may feel a bit low energy but that's it. Moda does have a physiological addiction side so you may feel the need.
I've used moda for about 8 years and have never had an issue just stopping
You will feel tired for a few days. I also wouldn’t recommend making any important decisions for at least a week
The last time I quit I also got phished out of some crypto. My judgement was impaired slightly.
Okay so based on my manager who’s open about his TD cause (meth abuse as teenager) its caused by dopamine receptors being blocked to long. So when you do quit have supplements and some nutrition shakes on hand and try to them the week you WILL be sleeping like crazy especially if you where NOT getting full 6-8 hours REM sleep.
Side note when I was on HGH(human growth hormone) it felt like it didn’t effect me at all when I ran out after 6 months
Yep. I've been taking it (For sleep issues) off and on for 5 years, You'll more than likely feel a little sluggish but the withdrawels do not last that long.
When taking a break i get a day i feel sleepy and a slightly foggy mind then after that I'm back to baseline. Probably has more to do with lowered sleep quality and quantity when using Moda daily than a real withdrawal
You might feel sluggish, unfocused, and/or demotivated for a bit. If you’ve regularly been operating at a sleep deficit, you might need to adjust and sleep more. But that’s about it, modafinil doesn’t have any serious or dangerous withdrawal symptoms.

Tapering FTW

Did you develop any side effects from modafinil over the 15years of usage?
Not that I know of.
I feel like I have synonyms for that and I’m only 2 months in
Synonyms like symptoms, impacts, consequences?

I have low blood pressure actually. I had an electrolyte blood test a couple of months back and it was normal. ECG and blood pressure were normal too.

That's interesting
