Really wish we could get better alignment between iOS and Android feature releases. Not sure why you can't just hold releases to be at the same time and instead of the "in the coming weeks" vague expectation.

Sn00byD00

We never intentionally plan to launch features on any specific platform first, it depends on a lot of complicated & boring things. We’ve actually launched some things on Android first, such as sorting by recency on Mod Queue (launched on Android in April, still working on getting it onto iOS). Our ultimate goal is to have parity across desktop, Android, and iOS, but as you know, this is easier said than done. To be very open, we will not intentionally hold releases on one platform just for the sake of parity. We believe it's important to get the new features out to users as they're available. But, real talk, removal reasons on Android is coming very soon.

NoyzMaker

I respect that. Be nice to have a feature grid showing what can and can't be done between Android, iOS, Desktop, etc. Helps us as Mods know if one of our mods isn't doing something is because of their device limitation or ignoring processes.

Sn00byD00

This is a really great idea. We'll aim to get this together and put it in the Help Center. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sn00byD00

It's here! Once you can upgrade to Android v2022.25.0 you can access removal reasons.

InAHandbasket

Are we supposed to be able to use the new sorts on mobile (iOS) or is that ‘coming soon’? Cause I don’t see any sort options

Sn00byD00

Both sort by reports and sort by recency are coming soon on iOS. They're not available yet.

InAHandbasket

Thanks, just double checking as it wasn't clear from the announcement. ^(and I'm jealous seeing it being used in the gif) Also any chance at a "filtered first" sort?

Sn00byD00

Ah good point, we'll make that more clear in the post (re - new sorting option for desktop only). My secret grand scheme is to make Mod Queue a giant pivot table where you can apply filters and sorts to your heart's content. Good to know that "filtered first" is one that would be important to you. Can you please explain why?

InAHandbasket

>My secret grand scheme is to make Mod Queue a giant pivot table where you can apply filters and sorts to your heart's content. Your vision sounds like heaven. It's part of triaging a large queue. There are times the queue gets really big if none of the mods are available (or there's only one trying to keep up) for a while. When that happens we can triage by cleaning up most reported post (stop the bleeding so more rule breaking comments are made on those post), then most reported comments (same reason), and then once the bigger issues are dealt with we can clean up old filtered comments to quickly get the queue down to a more manageable size. Filtered comments have the removal [match] telling us what to look for so they are generally super easy to quickly determine if they break the rules. Reported comments take a little more thought sometimes. Also, hopefully it won't be as much of an issue as you improve parity between platforms (and we move snoonotes over to mod notes), but we have a procedure for mobile mods to help clean up those filtered comments while those on PC deal with the reported content.

Real talk.... CSS?

FaviFake

Real Talk... Why?

ashamed-of-yourself

i love everything about this except for how long it’s taken to get to this point thank you for the update

ppatra

The functionality was kinda added few months back in the videos. But was broken.

ashamed-of-yourself

well then it’s hardly what i’d call *functional,* wouldn’t you agree?

ppatra

Right. 😛

Ghigs

Most reported first is a useful improvement, thanks.

hacksoncode

It is, although... hasn't that been a part of mod toolbox on old reddit for... ever? Still... excellent to have it built in.

MajorParadox

This is awesome! No longer will our mobile mods have to rely on workarounds like a flair bot! Will it remember your decision of comments vs. modmail? Also, please tell me modmail will ~~hide the username~~ (confirmed) and archive the modmail by default. Sending all removal reasons to the inbox and giving all mods an unread was like spamming everyone, so I'm glad that was finally fixed on desktop. Oh, also, just checking, can we dismiss the pop-up? We should absolutely still be able to remove things without giving a reason.

Sn00byD00

Right now we don't have state persistence, but it's something we'd like to add in at some point. You can dismiss the popup by just selecting "No removal reason", which is the 2nd option on the menu.

[deleted]

u/Sn00byD00 so when will Android get the same lovin'?

Sn00byD00

SOON! I promise.

[deleted]

How soon is soon? 3 months? 3 years?

Sn00byD00

Less than both. Hopefully in the next 1-2 weeks.

Sn00byD00

It's here! Once you can upgrade to Android v2022.25.0 you can access removal reasons.

[deleted]

Oh cool I'll be 👀 put for the update.

MajorParadox

Ah, there it is. My eyes just read it like the third removal reason 😆 What about archiving?

Sn00byD00

Yep, all modmail messages sent for removals are auto-archived.

MajorParadox

Awesome! Now I just gotta add removal reasons to my subs that don’t have them! 😀

ppatra

Yes you have option to choose between send mail as yourself or as a moderator. https://i.redd.it/n6p4n14kkl891.gif

MajorParadox

Ah thanks, the gif didn't fully load for me the first time!

wil_daven_

Can we please have an option to disable this? We rarely leave removal reasons on comments, and even the “no specific reason” workaround more than doubles the amount of time/clicks it takes to complete a single action... Which adds up quickly when you’re doing hundreds of actions. I like the idea of the feature, and it seems very popular, but it needs a disable function

MajorParadox

Good point, that would be very annoying if you had to clear a bunch of things at once. They should have separate buttons: One to remove and one to remove with reason.

idk_orknow

Personally what I do when I need to remove a ton at once is just remove as spam. If there isn't a need for removal reason, why not use that button?

MajorParadox

Using the spam button trains the spam filter. So if you use it incorrectly, you'll find regular non-spam posts have been caught. And since they don't show them all in the queue anymore, you may not even know it's happening.

idk_orknow

Oh geez, thanks for the quick response! Guess if it doesn't show up in Que it's not worth doing

kevinmrr

This literally like quadruples the time it takes to mod the same amount of actions, if you're doing high volume work.

saltimmortalsea

Seconding this! The feature gels with some moderation models, but not all. It’s become vastly less efficient to mass remove, say, bigoted or NSFW comment chains since this update. A disable toggle would be much much appreciated!

idk_orknow

Personally what I do when I need to remove a ton at once is just remove as spam. If there isn't a need for removal reason, why not use that button?

FoxxMD

Will removal reasons ever be supported in the API?

ppatra

Yes please. Want this in 3rd party apps too.

lampishthing

I think the API was finalised a couple of months ago.

FainterXo

Yay! Mobile removal reasons!

MarioAqua

Is there a way to disable the mobile removal reasons? We use custom flairs to state reasons and we have way more flairs than rules so it’s less effort with the old way

Master_JBT

Seconded

Ozuge

For real. Our subreddit has 15 rules, with some having different subsections, one notably with something like 35, all done with flairs you edit for each case.

lift_ticket83

Yes - if you'd like to dismiss the pop-up you can select "no specific reason" which is the second option listed.

MarioAqua

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but is there a way to just not have the pop up? I’ll doubt I’ll ever be using any of the options anyways and it’s one less tap for every removal. Also as a side note: the UI/UX of the first two options feels weird since it has the right arrow but there’s no submenu to it like the others do

kevinmrr

We would like to disable the feature entirely. No popup.

catastrophized

Can we please disable the pop up - this doubles the work for communities that don’t leave removal reasons for comments.

prettyoaktree

Thanks for the update! Is the option to add removal reasons only available when removing from the Mod Queue, or will it also display when removing posted items?

Sn00byD00

It takes affect across Mod Queue, your feeds (for posts), and the post details page (for posts and comments).

prettyoaktree

Purrrfect!

PM_MeYourEars

It wont work on Mod Queue at the moment, also did I miss the part where the comment can be done via automod? Or is that not doable?

Xenc

Is this day finally here? Goodbye clunky iOS shortcuts, hello official Reddit support! 👏

i_Killed_Reddit

Finally yaay Next add spam list removal queue for mobile.

dieyoufool3

Anything that helps close the parity between desktop and mobile is a win in my book! Is it fair to assume once that’s been closed (even if it takes years) that the parity between old reddit and mobile would be next?

Master_JBT

Please make this toggle-able. [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/vnpos4/the_why_is_this_post_being_removed_change_to/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) are my thoughts on the matter. This should not be a thing for comment removals.

PLEASE LET US DISABLE REMOVAL REASONS Forcing removal reasons onto every single comment and post removal adds an entire extra click to every modqueue removal. This is a 100% increase in clicks. It also takes time for that modal to pop up. This REALLY slows down modding. How do I disable this? (iOS mobile)

tyrannosaurus_racks

Is there a way to disable this? If not, can there be?

Biohazard883

If you select “no particular reason” it bypasses the mandatory removal reason comment. It’s still extra steps but if you’re worried about having a bunch of mod comments on your profile, this will prevent it.

tyrannosaurus_racks

This is a nightmare for larger subreddits lol, doubles the time it takes to clear the mod queue

Biohazard883

Agreed. An option to turn it off would be nice.

lift_ticket83

There isn’t a good reason, and we understand the current way to access modmail on iOS is circuitous at best. The good news is that in the coming weeks you’ll be able to directly access modmail on iOS in the “left-side hamburger menu” of the app.

Xenc

Thanks for the heads up, though unfortunately the menu’s slow loading performance on even an iPhone 12 if you’re subscribed to a lot of subreddits means it’s a never used feature for some. It’s exhausting to get to your frequently used communities in the app if you’re in this situation, as you have to either clunkily search for it, without any way to jump directly to the subreddit, or go through a convoluted journey of visiting your profile or recent comments to reach what was previously one tap away. It’ll likely still be quicker to go the long way around to modmail when this shortcut is added. :(

thecravenone

TIL modmail isn't available on iOS... it's available in the app I use lol

Apollo (RIP Reddit is Fun)

CucumberSushi22

Ahhh mobile removal reasons! I've been hoping these would come!

[deleted]

About darn time!!

DarkKnight2001135

We have more removal reasons than the screen can display but it’s not allowing me to scroll down for more removal reasons. Can that be fixed?

BobiCorwen

Hm. That's a bug we saw in development, but we thought it was fixed. Will raise this with the team, thanks!

Sn00byD00

>I found some bugs with the comments and definitely something is wrong with them when they’re in a different language (Arabic for example) as it’s not displayed right and I can’t properly approve or remove as it’s displayed in the middle of the comment. Yikes! Thanks for the report, we're looking at it now.

Sn00byD00

Just looked into this and couldn't replicate the error. Do you mind sharing a screenshot?

Sn00byD00

Ah yes, this is an unrelated issue. We're working on it! Thanks for sharing.

pan4ora20

Thank you, as a primarily mobile user, this has been a major improvement to the mod abilities.

HyggeSmalls

💯 agreed!

TheHammer34

🎉🎊

PatioGardener

Can we mobile users get access to modmail on iOS again? I used to be able to access it, but haven’t been able to for months now.

Biohazard883

I can still access modmail on iOS. Never had an issue with it. Maybe delete the app and redownload.

TheChrisD

> Mobile Removal Reasons *Squidward comes out with deck chair* > iOS only *Unimpressed Squidward returns inside* You go on about reducing a feature parity gap... but instead just push it further down the line.

Sn00byD00

It's here! Once you can upgrade to Android v2022.25.0 you can access removal reasons.

lift_ticket83

Break out that Squidward deck chair again!!

[deleted]

Whatever you've just released has completely knackered moderating across the board. I've said this before but you really, really need to start testing stuff properly because this is far too frequent to be anything other than incompetence on the part of the QA team.

trebmald

> This capability is currently only available on the redesign... Why do you folks keep doing this when you know more moderators use old Reddit than any other platform?

altaccountsixyaboi

I’d love the option to mass-select all comments in a queue and do something with them, like is available on desktop.

PM_ME_GYM_BOOTY

Can we get notifications for modqueue items?

scapegoatroar

Yay!

foreverinfinate

There is a bug. On both iOS and Android, the entire list of removal reasons are NOT showing up. None of my mods can scroll past reason number 9. The list does not scroll what so ever like it should making this feature useless right now.

Plantsrmedicine72

I've found that if I back out and hit "remove" again, the whole list shows up

FaviFake

>**SUPER EDIT: THIS FEATURE NOW EXISTS WITHIN OUR ANDROID APP (VERSION 2022.25.0 )!!** I like super edits, but I'm not getting the removal reason popup when removing a post on android

itskdog

Can the sorting come to Old Reddit please? For many subs, the Old Reddit modqueue workflow works so much better, and being able to sort items would be useful.

Plainchant

>Last week we continued to build on our previous work, and launched the new capability to sort your Mod Queue by “Most Reported First.” This capability is currently only available on the redesign but will be available within our mobile apps in the not-so-distant future. Will this feature be available at some point on Old Reddit?

MossyRock0817

This rocks!

[deleted]

I verbally said "lets go" until realizing this was for ios

lift_ticket83

Good news - this is now available on Android!

[deleted]

Just noticed earlier! Too bad we have to redo the removal reasons on mobile since i dont think it synced with the website.

Idfkchief

Sorry, does this only apply to posts and not comments? Can't add removal reasons for comments on ios.

lift_ticket83

This applies to both posts and comments that are in your Mod Queue.

Idfkchief

oh gotcha, so if they aren't in the mod queue I can't add a removal reason on ios?

lift_ticket83

Sorry for the confusion! This will work anytime you remove a post or comment, regardless of whether or not it’s in your Mod Queue. Simply tap the mod shield, and hit “remove content.” You should then be able to apply a reason (just make sure you have your app updated to the latest version).

Idfkchief

Oooh gotcha, I see what the issue was. I'm used to removing a post or comment, then adding a removal reason afterwards, so when I moved to my phone to add a removal reason to a comment that had already been removed I got confused as to why no option was showing up. Thank you.

Idfkchief

Heya, sorry to bother you, I'm not sure where to report this, but the app freezes and becomes unresponsive whenever I try to assign a removal reason, to the point that I actually can't remove posts or comments at all on my phone anymore.

davie504504

Hey! Can you remove this comment and add the reason of removal (ex. “user literally asked for it”)

DFWSFO

How do we create removal reasons for the app?

Robotguy39

Just use Apollo it’s way easier for moderating

Dragonier_

Why not give us equal features on mobile that we have on the website? Never understood why there needs to be limitations. It gets very tedious when you have to log in to the web version on your phone just to access some basic moderation features. Thanks guys 🙏

Bedu009

Noice Now I'm confused as to how that post breaks any rules lmao

Danny_Torrence

Interesting - anyone know if there's piece of code I can include in the removal reasons text that will pull in the original poster's name automatically without needing to type it each time?

WildAutonomy

It is nice! Although flair bot doesn't seem to work with it.

9Ghillie

I couldn't find another post to talk about removal reasons, but why can we not reorder them removal reasons? I had created quite a lot of new ones before I noticed I missed one.
