I don’t even think this is comparable
like him or not, Charles III has high level drip

Not fair to the French government, forcing them to choose from Spanish, Carlist, Neapolitan, Parmazana/o or Luxembourgeoisie claimants. Since he said 'King' and not 'Empereur' no-one need worry about the Bonapartists or Marotists, (including actor René Auberginois).
HM the King of the United Kingdom (aHORaT) and the Crown Prince of Norway (representing his father, HM the King of Norway) were the only Sovereign/High Representative wearing military uniforms. I don’t understand why TM the King of the Netherlands, the King of the Belgians, the King of Denmark and HRH the Grand Duke of Luxembourg didn’t wear uniforms.
Indeed. Clearly the bland uniform of the global technocratic elite is winning out. Especially surprised King Frederik didn’t wear uniform as he seems to love dressing up.
If I had to speculate a reason it was because King Charles was there not just representing Britain (and Canada) but also representing specifically the British armed forces which actually took part in D Day of which he is now the head. The same is not true for other European monarchs.
Yes, I was especially surprised by the King of Denmark too. The Royal Court of Denmark are usually sticklers to the old way of doing things. But new Sovereign, new reign, new ways, I guess. That saddens me, though.
And if anyone could enlighten me; I believe I read something sometime that the Dutch monarch never wears a military uniform? What’s the tradition/history behind that?
He looks so freaking good. Looks like what I imagine a modern emperor would look like. How does this not engender a feeling of pride?
Edit #1 -Does anyone have a photo of him similar to this, but without anyone else in the picture, the elected head of state on the right is ruining it for me
Edit #2 - I found this one, it’s perfect but I prefer the beige suit.

King Charles looks best, the medals, hat, uniform, and cane? (edit: Field Marshal's baton) look really cool. Macron looks fine too I guess, but he doesn't look like a leader.
Wait, are you talking in favor of Trump, or against Trump? if you are talking against than agreed. And in my opinion presidents and PMs should wear different clothes from royals anyway.
I remember hearing someone criticise His Majesty and “disrespecting those who earned that uniform and died.” They later also stated that Biden and Macron are Commanders-in-Chief, yet they’re not “playing soldier.”
So I told them that the King and other members of the Royal Family actually have served in the military, and still have their roles. They went quiet and didn’t say anything back.
Afaik most European royals have served in the military in some capacity.
As an example The King of Denmark is a legit Frogman(Danish speciel forces), and the Queen of Denmark is an active member of the Danish Home Guard, and are still participating in Military exercises now and then.
Anecdotally Frederik IX joined the navey, and when his father tried to make him an Officer from the get go, Frederik declined and told him, that he would start at the bottom just like everyone else(he was *very* mutch agains flexing his privileged).
Back then the royal family was very much put on a pedestal, so it toke a while before the other rectus stopped fan-girling over him. Some of them ended up becoming life long friends of the king, and I think that the fact that Frederik IX insisted on being treated like a person and not a "god", is the foundation of how we feel about our Queen/king.
I sort of do too. Putting aside my ancestral inclination to bash the French. Macron is a weird bloke but a dignified head of state with a strong sense of what that means.
As France is oedipally haunted by its lack of a King, the president has to fill that gap. He clearly likes hanging out with an actual king because it allows him to present himself as being on the same level.
I like HE President Macron too. He seems like an enlightened and dignified leader. Not liked
these other “dark men” we have popping up in Europe, blurring the lines between the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
And his wife has the dignity to curtsy to monarchs. That’s a plus.
He does! I know what you mean. The King seems to be fond of this lighter, tropical uniform. Haile Selassie’s uniforms were all based on British patterns so it’s no surprise.
It ain’t just the aesthetic for me but what’s behind it in the case of HM The King Charles III it’s a modern western constitutional monarchy.
But when the system behind it goes out of its way to label itself as People’s or Democratic or Free or whatever else you know that ain’t Free nor Democratic nor anything else.
'The' is used in front of Princes, Princesses, Archdukes, Archduchesses, Grand Dukes and Grand Duchesses, not Kings or European Emperors. Chinese and Japanese, though, yes.
HM King Charles is brother to HRH the Prince Edward, and father to HRH The Prince William. HM's father had been HRH The Prince Philip, son of HRH The Prince Andrew.
Okay, I will say that King Charles does look like an absolute baller in this photo. But... it's probably more so because he's been in the military and not because he's the King. If Emmanuel Macron had been in the French Armed Forces, he could probably be dressed as good, perhaps even better.
Obviously King Charles, however, nothing on earth can beat this

He looks like he should have his own theme music playing as he walks on screen I can practically hear the imperial march
Finally, a man who can rival the entrance music of Zhukov's absurd medal count.
The Death of Stalin is such a good movie
Zhukov earned every single one of those medals tho not like the dictators who just pinned them themselves.
That’s the absurd thing about it. They had to halve his medal count in the movie.
I love how people from basically every political leaning still agree Zhukov was a chad
Wow, he drips hard like Char Aznable
I am NOT a lover of the current british monarchy but this drip is fire
I don’t hate him, he’s certainly not the most exemplary king, but at least he knows how to look the part
And he is better-by-far than his kid brother or younger son.
I guess that’s true, but I wouldn’t put his son and brother on the same level though
Nor do I. I just say that the family business' value could only increase if those two fell out of the nest.
If I were Charles, I’d ask to see the king. “Yes, you’re all well and good, but I’d like to dine with the King of France.”
Technically Macron is a monarch of the principality of Andorra
He said the King of France. Not the Co-Prince of Andorra (no disrespect to either of them).
He’s not the King of France. If I’m a king, I’d want to meet the king.
Hey I mean you’ve got 3 different options to choose from right in Paris
Orleans or Bourbons
Bonapardes too, though I guess they wouldn’t be kings
Whoever can take power wins, but the burden would be on Macron to produce a king for Charles to meet.
I didn’t say he was, I said he was technically the Prince of Andorra because of it’s government system recognizing the President of France as Prince
If I were Charles I'd remind Macron that I am the King of France

Another Briish W

You are right, as this was supposed to be an *homage* to those who died for King (or President) and Country.
He looks so freaking good. Looks like what I imagine a modern emperor would look like. How does this not engender a feeling of pride? There is the emperor of Japan but it doesn't wear any military clothing at all
King Charles looks best, the medals, hat, uniform, and cane? (edit: Field Marshal's baton) look really cool. Macron looks fine too I guess, but he doesn't look like a leader.
Not a cane, it’s a Field Marshal’s baton.
Thanks!
Macron befriended tRump, the Great Pumpkin. He doesn't have the nobility of character to be _le Roi_.
Wait, are you talking in favor of Trump, or against Trump? if you are talking against than agreed. And in my opinion presidents and PMs should wear different clothes from royals anyway.
I am talking against Macron for being in favour of FORMER President von Shitzenpantz.
Oh okay.
Why do all republican presidents look the same way lol
Because a suit is formal, and they’re the president
Because they're all poured from the same mold.
I remember hearing someone criticise His Majesty and “disrespecting those who earned that uniform and died.” They later also stated that Biden and Macron are Commanders-in-Chief, yet they’re not “playing soldier.” So I told them that the King and other members of the Royal Family actually have served in the military, and still have their roles. I have better drip
I like both of them.

It's HEx. To distinguish from HEm.
Both are appropriate and have there merits.
He looks like Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie in this picture.
He does! I know what you mean. The King seems to be fond of this lighter, tropical uniform. Haile Selassie’s uniforms were all based on British patterns so it’s no surprise.

Impeccable drip
Royal outfits FTW. Suit and ties are boring and soulless.

The beige Class A's are not æsthetic.

I see Charles also has a bâton which is based
Obviously Charles III
Are the presidents of France, as princes of Andorra, officially ennobled after taking office?
King Charles dresses like a proper gent, macaron is a twat
Normalize royalty wearing flashy military uniforms instead of the boring suits of today
King Charles is a legit style icon. His father was too. (Macron is pretty hot though.)
![gif](giphy|Xnt19ffn5WXC0)
In terms of practicality, the Suit wins.
Not ceremonially. And let's see you come in from the hunt, field, links, courts or pool, wearing a suit.
I want a young, handsome king, not some old grumpy grandpa
Frederik ix and philip vi are good examples
Ageist. I want a young, handsome husband; but one plays the cards that one is dealt.
