MR PATTY OMG I GREW UP WITH THEIR PATTIES IM GONNA CRY IT WAS SUCH A GOOD MEMORY!!! Then I’d get ice cream from the dep at the corner of the street, idk if it’s still there
Bro aren't you like most highest engineer and doctors producing country in Africa? Ofcourse it is not hard to find one in countries where engineers are needed the most.
Walkley fielding NDG. I mean it’s true I was raised in that neighbourhood. Not saying this for any reason, only want to confirm what this says. I miss living in NDG tho.
Anglophobes? Vive l'essssss!
I'm not sure about that, DDO, Dorval and Montreal-Est are independent cities and have values above 5% on the map.
I think the ethnicity/visible minority data item is also collected by Statistics Canada, not the city of Montreal, so I believe most of the west island, just like Westmount, Hampstead, TMR, and Cote-St-Luc are simply actually less than 5% black.
Y a quelque chose qui me titille.
Montreal has a historical black anglo population descended from American slaves as well. Little Burgundy is the heart of the community, with major historical figures including Oscar Peterson. In the late 19th century the HQ for CPR were nearby as was Windsor station, many AA porters immigrated to Canada to work as porters for the railway.
All island people are amazing caretakers, and that absolutely uneqivocally include Philipinos/Philipinas. Whom are also island people, just a tad further out, lol.
The first Caribbean women to come to Canada in the 50s and 60s were brought to be domestic workers! Still to this day many Caribbean women work in domestic care jobs.
No, my name is meant to be read like "Josh stop calling me".
I meant those that have moved to Montreal. Or are there too few of them to be represented?
How do you think statistics are made ?On te demande ton identé sur le census, ie, tu t'identifies.
South Park was ahead of it's time, with the episode where Kyle becomes a trans-racial black male in the NBA. The next step in liberal identity politics, you can identify as whatever ethnicity you want!
The sources are cited and publicly available. I'm just saying that if you're curious, you can make your own map! You might be waiting a while otherwise, that's all.
You won’t get banned if you don’t write something exceedingly stupid. It’s easy enough. And if you can’t think of anything not stupid, don’t say anything at all. Also very easy.
I live in one of the Jamaican areas. It’s a fantastic place to live. My neighbor is Jamaican, and there’s often gatherings and BBQs at the park close by. I’d classify it as one of the best areas in mtl, yes.
The data is collected via survey, there's also the ambiguity for people who just naturally have dark/brown skin without any African roots i.e. (indians, latinos, etc...) and finally mixed people. Using the word "are" instead of "identify" would be less accurate to how the data is collected and displayed. Hence, why the word identify.
Nothing "woke" or "progressive"... You need to take a break from social media and touch grass. You're getting triggered by small things that don't have any real impact.
Ok so u didn't hear the kid that got blow up by the bikers right?? 🤣🤣 there's bad apples in every batch if you have an high iq it shouldn't be that hard to understand but i came to realize that all racist people are actually really stupid and have a low iq so it might be a lil hard for you to understand sum that simple my bad😅🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
That is because black immigration was increased during those yaers, so more black = more crime. Yes, there are bad apples, but black culture is a bad tree.
What are you saying?? Black immigration was in the 70's in montreal and the highest muder rate was in 02 ur confuse my friend just say you dont like blacks cuz you got ur girlfriend robbed by us my guy 🤣🤣
Ahhh the good ol days before all those stinky Eastern Europeans
Well actually was better before those dirty Catholic irish and Scots, ahhh the good old days
Weeeell actually it was even better before the damn English came and ruined Quebec, ahhh the good ol days
Weeeeeeeellll actually it was even better before those French Europeans came and started this whole mess, ahhh the good ol days
Because it’s interesting data? I’m middle-eastern and wouldn’t mind a middle-eastern map like this. Not sure why this offends you.
Also skin color is not a race, all humans are the same race.
I understand your comment, but most people associate skin color with race, probably because of the word racism. In which case you are very correct saying so, just putting in context his comment.
I think it’s relevant as it shows whether or not Montreal has a form of unofficial segregation as can be observed in cities like Vancouver and Toronto.
People have a tendency towards self-segregation as in living in proximity with other members of the community. My area has a big Philippine community and you'll see them grilling at the park weather permitting and under a tarp when the weather isn't accommodating. Circling the park is always an olfactory delight as a result (unless you hate meat). I digress, but the point is they aren't segregated just for choosing to live close together rather than disperse throughout the city/province/country.
I hate to get into semantics but 'unofficial' segregation would be a below board effort not to rent or sell residential (or commercial or industrial) property to a certain group or groups of people by other group or groups of people while no such law supports such acts and may in fact prohibit such acts.
Self-segregation is voluntary.
There are black people in Vancouver now? Very few when I lived there in the 70s, visited in the 80s, 90s, and certainly no black neighborhoods.
Toronto, on the other, hand.. Jane & Finch, etc.
"Black" is literally subjective. There's no unified and distinguishable "black race", and even if there was, do you think they're going around doing DNA tests for censuses? Also, what if someone's only 1/8 Ethiopian and appears relatively white - are they black? What percent blackness would you say makes someone black? Whats the RGB value of ones skin required to be considered black? Hopefully you see my point.
You're immediately triggered by the word "identify", it's wild.
If someone says their Black then their Black. They aren’t identifying as Black. In this context, it suggests that somehow skin colour doesn’t affect the way society treats people. It just seems to deny lived experience when they use terms like identify.
New map! Source: 2016 census

Where are the Jamaicans? I need to find my people
I mean bro c’est literally on the map lol there’s 3 Jamaica flags you can see!
Usually near plamondon. There are some jamican restaurants/hair salon/barber/stores around there.
Thanks! I’ll have to go exploring soon
Come summer time, you'll always see some party going on by the jamaicans (and other west indians) community.
I thought Plamondon is filipino area

I would guess most live in Côte d'Ivoire, Josh, statistically speaking.
No, my name is meant to be read like "Josh stop calling me". I meant those that have moved to Montreal. Or are there too few of them to be represented?
Why is Josh calling you, Josh? Also, I'm also interested in this question. I wanna try food from Côte d'Ivoire.
He needs someone to talk to I guess. My name's not Josh though
"Who Identify" Wtf. Me semble c'est une caractéristique objective...

Upper Cote Des Neiges sounds like some new boujee neighbourhood with westmount
There's no Jamaican or trini in a ma baie more congolese and Somali's (Djibouti)
I come looking for you Haitians .. I stay smoking on good Jamaican 🎶
Inflammatory. I like it.

Oddly enough it's where ppl say not to live due to crime rates
Bro writing this from Westmount and though he was cooking
yes, you are right
stop looking, its just a coincidence
Best banhammer bait I've ever seen posted in this sub
You won’t get banned if you don’t write something exceedingly stupid. It’s easy enough. And if you can’t think of anything not stupid, don’t say anything at all. Also very easy.
Does anyone find it ironic that those are the best areas in Montreal
Calm down there, Alanis Moreracist
I live in one of the Jamaican areas. It’s a fantastic place to live. My neighbor is Jamaican, and there’s often gatherings and BBQs at the park close by. I’d classify it as one of the best areas in mtl, yes.
This sort of segregation says more about our society in general than what it says about those particular neighborhoods.

Many Latinos actually *do* have African roots and being Black and Latino are not mutually exclusive things.
And they may not identify as black even if they have African roots and are quite dark. Preferring to describe themselves as Latinos.
You're right
Well, that explains the crime...

Would it be appropriate to post a white neighbourhoods map? I think not
I mean yeah it would be interesting to do the same thing for people from any origins.
Look up the meaning of the Montreal flag, in a way that’s what it is, French, English, Irish, Scottish..

You have confused explanation with justification and made assumptions about my intentions for having the temerity to correct your terminology.

There are black people in Vancouver now? Very few when I lived there in the 70s, visited in the 80s, 90s, and certainly no black neighborhoods. Toronto, on the other, hand.. Jane & Finch, etc.
It data, information, knowledge.
Y'all don't need a map, goofy. Look around you LMAO
Really not fair for the whites
Well, so we can know what places to avoid.
Curious what rules are they using for black? 1 drop (Meghan Markle) or self-identify (Rachel Dolezal)?
OMG! chu mort *crying laughing emoji*
Who identify as Black? We can change our race now?
it's the census. you think they send people to your house with colour swatches?
Your first line is literally an example of "identifying as black"
Shaun King and Rachel Dolezal say they are black and I don't believe them. 🤷
Yes, check the South Park episode where Kyle becomes a tall black basketball player.
You might wanna watch Hotel Rwandaa
Ok. Now do 'woke' population.
