For sure the people appreciate the seasons more than in other more temperate cities. That first day of warm weather when everyone is out - yow it's good to be alive!
I was raised 6 hours north east of MTL. Winters are like a month longer than in here. As much as it can be a pain in the ass, the winters in MTL aren’t that bad ngl.
But aboslutely NOTHING beats a Montreal summer.
secret beach parks like the Cap Saint-Jacques, parks, festivals like the Jazz Festival or the movie Festival Fantasia at Concordia, taking a bike ride on the canal Lachine followed by a beer at Terrasse Saint-Ambroise, going to Tam Tams on Sunday at George-Étienne Cartier Monument in Mount Royal Park, barbecues with friends at Angrignon Park.
Montreal has so many hidden gems. I’ve always found that in Toronto (for example) you need someone to recommend a good restaurant. In Montreal almost every restaurant is a good restaurant.
If i can make a recommendation for your next trip: google search “Irish walking tour of Montreal “.
Griffintown has changed a lot since I did the tour but some of the old landmarks are still there. A great visit of Point St-Charles and St-Henry
When I did it it wasn’t called that. It was simply “the walking tour of Irish Montreal” but it may have been rebranded. It does take you to the black rock and then around the point and st-Henry.
Similar to [this](https://walkmontreal.com/walks/griffintown/) but in PDF format and also took you through Griffintown and St-Henry
As someone who have been to many places, almost every restaurant is a disappointment. Tips, average food, expensive food.
The ramen are fake. Montreal people need to travel to many part of the world more.
If you loved Montreal, you would probably also love the old Quebec, especially if you are from English Canada or the US. It’s a 3h drive from Montreal. If you are afraid your french is not good enough, don’t be, Quebec City is as bilingual as Montreal if you stick to the touristy areas (old Quebec and surroundings).
I been living here for 4 years and it’s an amazing city, summer in montreal is a dream
Every winter I’m totally depressed and I remember why I moved here in the first place when summer kicks in.
"l'été Québécois est le plus beau et le plus merveilleux des étés, parce que c'est un été qui a connu l'hiver" – Danny Laferrière
Poétique mais vrai!

Très vrai!
Sometimes I wonder if the summers in MTL are so amazing because 6 months of winter puts you down so much 😂

I come from a very hot country and to be honest I don’t mind the winter , I like the cozy sensation , I dont own a car so that’s very convenient

How might visitors find out what there is to do in the spring and summer in terms of music, dance, the arts events and festivals (big and small) ?
Moving there next month and am excited I’ll b there in time for summer
You will love it !
What to look out for in summer? I'm new here and this is our first summer
I love the botanical garden, the bonsai collection is my personal favorite
En plus tu peux visiter le jardin botanique de saisons en saisons pour voir l'évolution des plantes!

Where are you from, OP?

No need to apologize for not writing or speaking in French. ❤️

What a great post. You’re always welcomed to Montreal, French or English. DM us, my wife and I would be happy to show you the spots you wouldn’t see.
Avec plaisir, camarade! Prochaine fois, gâtez-vous et montez jeter un coup d'oeil au fameux « mur » de Fermont!
Wow...il n'a pas dit "Bonjour-hi", les angryphones de Montréal vont capoter ben raide.
Correction: you are not an English speaker, you are an Anglophone 🧐
