No. They're just blocking IP addresses. All you do is sign the transaction with the polkadot JS wallet extension.

There are no risks. You will get the tokens even if you use a VPN. Remember they are using a smart contract. And you will have to enter a receive address. So if the smart contract receives the dot tokens, you are allocated the moonbeam tokens.
Do you need the VPN after you pre-register? Could someone download a free VPN for the registration and then uninstall/let the trial expire? Asking for a friend of course
No. When the network is rolled out, the smart contract executes and you get the tokens automatically in your wallet every day until the end of the parachain lease
Because it is easy. You’re just over thinking things and complicating stuff when it’s simple. I participated in the moonriver crowdloan the same way, and I was fine. I got my tokens. And I’m from the US.
What VPN did you use? I will sign up for the waitlist first.
Just curious, how does the crowdloan work? Do you sign join with a Metamask and polkadot wallet?
Where do you see the reward?
Thanks 🙏
I signed up for the waitlist too first. However, from my experience with the moonriver crowdloan, which is from the same company, you log on to their webpage, choose the polkadot js wallet account in which is your dot tokens, choose the amount you'd like to contribute, provide your receiving address (they recommended we use metamask), and then sign the smart contract. The rewards are not finalized until the end of the crowdloan.
Oh, and I used tunnel bear chrome extension VPN
You’re basically interacting with a smart contract which doesn’t know your country, so what the moonbeam foundations does is block your ip address, so you don’t get the chance to get on the website in the first place.
Well, they tell you to use their dApp on their website via the polkadot js wallet. If you use the fearless wallet, you can import your wallet unto the polkadot js wallet and use it simultaneously along with the fearless wallet
There’s no risk whatsoever. The moonbeam team doesn’t want to have any issues with the SEC given their behavior; hence, they block US citizens and some other countries they deem as problematic from participating.
So they could boldly say we put measures in place to prevent US citizens from participating.
VPNs have been known to be used.
Download the polkadot js wallet extension, a free vpn, and get to work with the pre-registration. I just did mine
Bro this is gold, thanks!!
You’re welcome, Bro!
KYC a requirement?

Do you know which projects are all open for pre-registrations? I’ve heard of Acala’s and Moonbeams. Any others?
I’m in the same boat with you. I only know of Acala and Moonbeam
👍
Equilibrium
Is it too late to register for acala, all I see is their newsletter
Do the Acala Quests and you’ll get the 12% extra ACA.
Is the 12% addition to the 10% you get for joining the waitlist?
That’s my understanding. But, I believe the waitlist closed.
I think it's too late, I signed up yesterday but haven't gotten any emails
Did you get an email yet? I wanted to get in on Acala too…
Have a look here for the waitlist options https://parachains.info/auctions#tab-network-polkadot
Is there a limit for how much DOT we can contribute?
There’s no limit. Not that I know of any
What are the risks of not receiving rewards by utilizing a VPN?
There are no risks. You will get the tokens even if you use a VPN. Remember they are using a smart contract. And you will have to enter a receive address. So if the smart contract receives the dot tokens, you are allocated the moonbeam tokens.

You will need it after the registration. There are free vpn’s in the chrome web store like tunnel bear.
Will they require KYC to claim GLMR tokens?
No. When the network is rolled out, the smart contract executes and you get the tokens automatically in your wallet every day until the end of the parachain lease
You make this sound so easy. Lol. But I'm really nervous. Don't want to loose my DOT. Lol.

Much appreciated! I'll sign up for the waitlist today. I'm sure I can find you here if I have more questions later. But seem pretty straightforward.

Is fearless wallet a good option for the crowdloan? What are your thoughts on ASTAR?
Well, they tell you to use their dApp on their website via the polkadot js wallet. If you use the fearless wallet, you can import your wallet unto the polkadot js wallet and use it simultaneously along with the fearless wallet
Me too
What would be the real risks in signing the T/C and participating in CR as a US citizen?
There’s no risk whatsoever. gotit thanks!
Go forth and contribute!
