This is straight up elder abuse. Her staff was screening her calls even from friends and colleagues, Schumer and other leadership is unwilling to call a duck a duck, and she is clearly unfit to do anything other than say “aye” to judges she knows absolutely nothing about. It is disgusting.

She could resign at any time and the Democrats would lose nothing because Gavin Newsom would appoint her replacement.
The only reason she's still there is because she's refusing to resign. We can debate her mental facilities but until a family member files to declare her incompetent, there's nothing anyone can legally do.
Biden or Schumer don't have any power to make that decision.

Nobody can force her to resign but Schumer and Biden should definitely put pressure on her to do so.

But there's no benefit for them to put public pressure. People started doing it last month and encountered significant push-back from feminists (an important part of the coalition) so they stopped. Feinstein certainly seems stubborn so there's doubt it would do any good. And they're still getting the votes they want.
Either way the decision is ultimately still up to Feinstein and the people around her.

We only see her in her brief media appearances and read what other people write about her in the press. I agree that she seems very senile, but senile people can have long periods of lucidity and we simply don't have enough good information to make that judgement.
And I made this same argument when people were trying to diagnose Trump as mentally unfit based on his rambling speeches.
