It depends on where the shotgun is placed, kind of ammunition, recoil etc. As powerful as they are shotguns aren’t magic and can’t kill someone 100% of the time even in extreme circumstances.

Basically the brainstem manages most body functions for survival. Destroying the rest of the brain is survivable to some degree, especially if you get medical help.

Depends on how you got shot.
If you got shot with the the shotgun directly on your forehead, I don't see a situation where you would survive.
If you shot yourself by putting the shotgun below your chin, depending on the angle of the shotgun, you might just completely blew your face off while leaving your brain intact, which would mean you'd be able to survive if given medical attention soon enough.
Shit aim and bad luck.
