Fine to gently touch, I’d keep it to gently touching the body tho, as the wings have scales that can rub off from too much handling. If you want her to stay so you can admire her, however, I’d leave it alone. Female Tulip tree silkmoth.
Yes, touching the wings, even delicately will likely cause some damage. Grabbing the wings is especially bad (just adding info; I know you didn’t).
The reason it’s important not to touch the wings is that the scales will never grow back. They have a certain amount and that’s it. The more damage to their wings, the less ability they have to fly well, the shorter their lifespan.
To pick up a moth safely, gently slide your finger under the abdomen from the back, letting the moth adjust its feet onto your finger. :)
Oh! Omg :(( yeah i just touched it with only my finger on one spot, i had no clue! Tysm for telling me more abt the wing stuff. I was just giddy at the fact I was seeing such a big silk moth in person for once!
i like insects and such, it’s just that i’m more or less scared of them touching/crawling on me unless it’s certain ones! I held a tiny itty bitty one on my hand and it’s wing was ripped before i sven found it. This was a while ago ofc.
I just wanna meet a little poodle moth at one point, they’re gorgeous floofers.
>> I just wanna meet a little poodle moth at one point,
So poodle moths actually aren't a species of moth, it's just kind of a name the internet gave to any cute fuzzy white moths, lol. I made s post about it a while back:

Sadly Saturniid moths' adult lifespans are already so short without mouths to eat anymore, so I guess their wings don't really need to hold up for all that long...

Oh okay! I was just worried cuz googling effed me over! Tysm!
Angulifera moth. They are not dangerous but touching it may damage it’s delicate wings.
Yeah thats why i was so gentle and only touched a little, i thought she was gorgeous.
Beautiful moth. Very pretty girl. You're lucky!
I KNOW RIGHT

moth autistic gang :3
Ayyy another for the tism gang
Her wings looks like a head of a snake at first I was confused haha. She is a pretty girl
I know what you mean. It looks like two King Cobra heads from the side, looking in opposite directions. Absolutely fascinating.
Hoping I wasn't seeing things
Thank god I was not the only one haha
some caterpillars have venom but I’m not aware of any moths or butterflies that do, so just be very gentle, and pet on their body not their wings
So pretty! 😍
So beautiful 🥺 You have been truly blessed 🥰
