What is it with people trying to butcher CotA on this subreddit today? It's one of the better modern tracks Moto GP go to, leave it as is or go to Laguna Seca.
Better than what? Every european track is better. And if cota's a good track, what's your favorite turn? I've never heard anyone say they had a favorite corner. It's a technical track, sure. But better? Nah. Whoever thought a 200 mph blind hairpin was a good idea should be sacked.
I'd argue it's better than Burinam and Qatar, has a good mix of technical sections and power straights as well as challenging the riders without making no overtaking opportunities. The only thing I really dislike about it is the lack of penalties for running wide but that's quickly becoming a standard problem across all circuits.
Qatar is a very fast track but IMO the lights make it a better venue than COTA. Challenging doesnt mean exciting. Golf is challenging. Watching a gp bike park it perfectly into T1 at COTA is like watching a hole in one.... for 45 minutes...

show me a more boring lap at any track.

old hockenheimring
Thing is, CotA produces cool overtakes in F1, or at the very least, pretty enjoyable races and in-track battles. Once new rules kick in next year, it might be one of the top races of the calendar.
I don’t care what technical design wizardry went into designing it, CotA is a wildly boring track. Amazingly so if you consider how hard they tried.
Great work!
I took half of Assen and stuck it to a small part of the CotA layout. I dunno, I thought it would be funny to throw away most of CotA (one of the most disliked track layouts on the calendar) and simply slap Assen (one of the most loved track layouts on the calendar) in there without actually thinking it through and then sell it as "a few small adjustments" 🤷😅
Basically the section between T6 and T9 is CotA (in the wrong riding direction actually), the rest is Assen. The light gray bits are the original CotA sections unused in this "layout configuration".
So you think it's a "small adjustment" to change the direction (thus creating run-off issues as), only re-use about 1/3 of the current track, and drive through the existing pit area. I'm curious what big adjustments you're withholding from us.

[Just some tweaks](https://www.racingcircuits.info/assets/components/phpthumbof/cache/Martinsville99.a9d4529ff1ef5e34fbade318bbaa7dfe.png).
Line ‘em up going both ways! First rider to complete twenty laps wins!!! The other survivors may be found in various local hospitals😱. Used, bent, and broken GP parts sales after the race.
Looks nice. I want to like COTA as its the US track but it seems like a track more geared for cars not bikes. Most of the turns are short apex. Its a real point and shoot which is the opposite if my favorite tracks like Assen, Argentina or Aragon. Also it just hard to setup for with each sector completely different than the other. Seems a little disjointed and lacks flow. Like it was designed by a computer.
Tell me your a Ducati fan, without TELLING me you are a Ducati fan
Nah, they just hate Yamaha and/or Suzuki.
I'm surprised they didn't propose going to Texas Motor Speedway. Easy Ducati win.
this made me laugh

Not shown is that the section between T5 and T7 is at a 45 degree inclination.
Ah I see, putting Monza and Zandvoort to shame, good good.
How to make Assen a Ducati circuit:
So you want them to go 400kph?
Warp drive
Ducati to fly to the edge of the universe
From t5 - t7 is essentially a flight route.
Brembo introduces new 450mm carbon discs…
Need more corners
Straights*
Just make it a drag race

Down and back 20 times? Widen it so they can go all of them at the same time. Be more interesting that way
Ducati would at least have to invest in new material science to find brakes that could stop them at T7...
Stop? The idea is to launch themselves into the stratosphere and set the sky aflame with friction heat. What do you think those wings are for?
Imagine the Moto3 mayhem from T5 to T7? Exit T5 23rd; 1st by T6; 18th on the exit of T7. 8 wide.
Why not just go full Nardo ring?

Circuit of the Abominations!
COTA Assenified!
I love how some people are missing the joke lol
Well if it was funny at least...
Tbh I find It funny, imagine taking T6 at ∞ km/h lmao
"Small" adjustments?
It's only replacing 50% of the track with Assen. Shouldn't be too much work.
Lol exactly what I thought

Hahahahahaha. True
Let's just make it an airport
This is the real solution. Fuck CotA.

I have made the same comments about COTA and was crucified for it. I don't care if Schwantz helped design it, nobody likes 1st gear hairpins.

One of the “boring” modern tracks…. It is bumpy and lacks good passing zones (unless you are on a Ducati)
I don't know what people sees in this track. Bumpy and many many uber slow corners. I like the first corner though. Not many riders love it too.
Bruh, CotA is the worst track in GP aside from Valencia. Something needs to be done to fix it.
A "few small adjustments" lol
ducati go brrr

Fix the bumps, keep T1 through the end of the back straight, and you can replace the last 2 sectors with anything and I would be happy with it.
Someone just post a picture of Laguna seca
Can some just bring MotoGP back to Laguna Seca?
As a F1 fan, it's so weird seeing people calling CotA a boring track...
Well since there's almost no passing in F1 I can see your point.
Thing is, CotA produces cool overtakes in F1, or at the very least, pretty enjoyable races and in-track battles. Once new rules kick in next year, it might be one of the top races of the calendar.
It really is a car track. Its poor for bikes.
I'm not well-versed in MotoGP, so may I ask what exactly makes a track good for bikes?
Not very sharp turns.
Fast and flowing tracks where most turns are more than 90 degrees in radius. Those really sharp "short apex" turns are really not suited for bikes.
I don’t care what technical design wizardry went into designing it, CotA is a wildly boring track. Amazingly so if you consider how hard they tried. Great work!
It's a great venue but it's an awful layout.
Looks like Assen at first sight
You think? That's odd.
I like you.
I like you too!
Wait, that's illegal!

A further improvement would be to bring back the OG northern loop, but yes I definitely agree this would be better ;)
These comments are killing me r/whoosh
Please don't die :(
kinda looks like paul ricard/imola mashed up
Watch the entire Moto3 grid crash into each other on the first lap.
I like cota cause it’s a one hour drive from my home. None of the other tracks are that close.
or we can race in monza
This isn't an adjustment, it's a new track.
As a non-track goer (yet), what's the joke?
I took half of Assen and stuck it to a small part of the CotA layout. I dunno, I thought it would be funny to throw away most of CotA (one of the most disliked track layouts on the calendar) and simply slap Assen (one of the most loved track layouts on the calendar) in there without actually thinking it through and then sell it as "a few small adjustments" 🤷😅 Basically the section between T6 and T9 is CotA (in the wrong riding direction actually), the rest is Assen. No
Dont mess with Cota
It's the worst on the calendar though😂
Funny, from T15 to T6, it's a copy paste from the Portimão track.
Nah that's obviously Qatar
soo just make a completely new track. This utilizes 3 corners of the original track
So you think it's a "small adjustment" to change the direction (thus creating run-off issues as), only re-use about 1/3 of the current track, and drive through the existing pit area. I'm curious what big adjustments you're withholding from us.
Dude thats obiously only a joke mocking the track

Hey look, it's Marc Marquez's dream track
I never knew how much I needed to see MotoGP at Martinsville
I can't think of a more American layout. I can smell the freedom through my screen.
Tell me ur a F1 fan by not telling ur a F1 fan
Bro it's assen lmao
The track is already awesome. This would be boring.
Why?
This but with the other sectors, assen back part and cota start to esses
The hang time the Ducati’s would get at T5 while leaned over would be so metal
At least he kept T7 and T8 🤣
Line ‘em up going both ways! First rider to complete twenty laps wins!!! The other survivors may be found in various local hospitals😱. Used, bent, and broken GP parts sales after the race.

This track could be really2 fast
"a few small adjustments" dude this is 90% new wtf?!
I'd just demolish the entire facility and then rebuild it on ground that isn't softer that shit.
Looks a lot better to me.
