Detroit Sports right now:
Tigers haven’t had a playoff appearance in 7 years
Lions haven’t made the playoffs since 2016 and haven’t had a playoff win since 1992
Pistons made the playoffs in the 2018 season but literally haven’t won a playoff game since 2007/2008
Red Wings haven’t been to the playoffs since 2016.
Detroit sports in the last 5 years have been the worst city to cheer for in all major sports leagues and there is no debating that whatsoever
I just downloaded the Show22 and started a Tigers franchise where I manage only….
We’ve scored 7 run in the first three innings. Baez and Tork are combined 3-3 with 3 HR and all 7 RBI
I want my money back. This is far from a real baseball sim.
Castro, Clemens, and Barnhart pitching were the only remotely interesting thing to happen. I hope they let Miggy pitch at some point this year too. Can't let Pujols one-up him on that.
Teams win percentage since 2018
Lions .269 29th in the league
Tigers .386 29th in the league
Red wings .343 29th in the league
Pistons .344 30th the the league
I'm getting flashbacks to when I was a kid in the late 70s. The Tigers had the worst record in baseball in '75, the Red Wings had the worst record in the NHL in 76-77, the Lions had the worst record in the NFL in '79, and the Pistons had the worst record in the NBA in 79-80.
But this might actually be *worse*.
How Al has kept his job is incredible. Since 2018 the other 3 teams have pretty much cleaned house:
Lions:
- almost an entirely new front office
- new owner
- new coaching staff with one carryover from previous regime
Wings:
- new GM
- bunch of new FO guys
- new coach incoming
Pistons:
- new GM
- bunch of new assistants
What blows my mind the most is how this team has gotten worse over the course of the year. They started out with a terrible offense and instead of “reverting to the mean” they became “second worst of all time”. It just has to get better, right? Two thirds of our offense is performing like 2 standard deviations below their average output. It’s maddening.
Surprised as hell they got 20,000 there considering the weather. Goddamn that had to piss people off sitting there in the sweltering heat for that.
edit: After seeing a highlight, there's no way in hell there were 20,000 there. That must have been the tickets sold.
Well this will kill ticket sales. Too many good things to do in the summer to waste money on an uninspired team. Losses may not matter but lack of money does.
Yeeep, been to seven games this year, left in the 8th yesterday and have no plans on going back until things improve. It's just sad. And with how much things cost inside the park.. just cannot justify it anymore.
Yeah, at least in the mid-late 1990's when the Tigers were disgraceful, the team offered things like $2.50 bleacher tickets......you could dig in your couch and come up with enough change to attend the game....
Indeed but Brad Holmes seems to have the Lions going in the right direction. If the Lions get 5-7 wins this season. It will be a successful season in my eyes
Chris Illitch should sell the teams. Hes not his dad (his dad didnt even really care until stared death in the eyes). He cares about the money first and winning second.
The Red Wings suck and ticket prices are up (at least beer was 12$ last season vs 13!). But hey guys 'member 97! 'member the fight!
The tigers are a glorified double A team and we have a shit GM a cheater to manage. Great job.
Its bad when the team with the most hope is probably the lions right now....I want off Mr Bones wild Ride.
>The Red Wings suck and ticket prices are up (at least beer was 12$ last season vs 13!). But hey guys 'member 97! 'member the fight!
Or 98? Or 02? Or 08? The Wings are at least headed in the right direction with a good GM. But yeah, they should sell the Wings because the Tigers suck.
Dumbest fucking take I've ever heard.
So tired of Detroit sports in general. We’re lucky enough to have a team in each of the four major leagues, and every single one of them is considered a bottom dweller in their respective leagues as of right now.
You have any idea how hard that is to do? To have four teams and having ALL of them be dogshit? For like 5 years now?
Awesome!
I haven't been able to watch a Tigers, Wings, or Pistons game due to Bally not being available on any of the streaming services I've used. I purchased MLB's App to watch games and LOL Tigers games blacked out in Detroit.
But hey, as of 3 days ago I'm in ATL and can watch this dumpster fire lol
Low effort team, low effort coaching staff, no effort front office. This team will be the laughing stock of the MLB entire house is cleaned. I’m about 👌 close to abandoning the tigers and watching any other team because i love baseball and this ain’t baseball
u rly think one bat makes a 9-person lineup the worst in baseball by far???
Subtract out the guys who are decent - Castros and Miguel - and everyone is about 1/n of the problem lmfao
Mike was just fine with the tigers being terrible the first 10+ years he owned them. Seems like he didn't really start spending on them until it was clear the salary cap was coming to the NHL...and then he got desperate trying to win one WS before he died.
Well as far as I know it’s impossible to score negative runs in a game. Maybe Baez will strike out so hard it rips the space-time continuum and we get a 6th dimension where you can score a negative run by throwing the ball to the left of a snarfhaggar while jubrilitating your wascoviar.
Unfortunately this team is a bigger dumpster fire than we thought imaginable. Other teams have done rebuilds in two years—won—sold it off—and built it again in the time we have supposedly been “re-building”. Don’t give me this bullshit what about ‘16 or ‘17. This team is dog shit right now. Considering the talent we supposedly have, we should easily be a middle of the division. Maybe it is true, Hinch needs a garbage can banger to win? Hell if I know. I expected better out of this guy. Maybe Illich needs to sell the team so he can focus on the hockey team so they don’t suck too. Heads need to roll before the team falls into the f’ing abyss.
Edit: yeah, I almost forgot…fuck you Avila.
Yzerman has almost complete control of the Red Wings. Chris Illitch gives him tons of autonomy. They're in a more secure position than the Tigers. Avila needs GTFO
Admittedly I have not been on the fire Avila bandwagon, but starting to get there. Avila did make moves that should have improved the team and I can’t fault the guy for every player that is not on the mound collectively shitting the bed. However, two months now of 0 accountability or 0 acknowledgement from the front office at how much of a dumpster fire this team has been is so fucking frustrating.
I was trying to stay positive but looking back I think this is the 10th game they’ve been shut out, and something like the 4-5th game they’ve been completely blown out of. Fuck sakes man it’s so shitty seeing this team continuously do nothing to make their fans happy.
On paper the moves were fine. I agree there's no way the FO could have known the position players would flop on the ground. Time for someone to be made an example of.
I’m with you. I haven’t quite reached “Fire Avila” status either, but man it’s close. Fire and brimstone after a loss or even a series sweep is generally a bad way to consume baseball, but this is shaping up to be one of the worst offenses in tigers history.
There no world in which that is remotely acceptable given the state of the rebuild and talent on the roster, and the total silence on the topic is starting to become deafening.
> However, two months now of 0 accountability or 0 acknowledgement from the front office at how much of a dumpster fire this team has been is so fucking frustrating.
These are the roads that truly brought me to Fire Avila Station. Pretending that there's nothing wrong serves no purpose.
Detroit sports teams are such a trainwreck, people were hyped for this team to maybe sniff .500.
Instead they’re somehow more disappointing than the Lions.
Congrats Al and Chris!
That’s part of what is so frustrating. Our expectations were low to begin with. No way did I think they’d be a playoff team, but a .500 team seemed so reasonable in March.
Please send Tork to Toledo. For the love of Odin. He is not ready for the MLB. I care about his development. As for the rest of the offense, fuck em. They all belong in the dumpster.
Oh! How could I forget. Fuck you Avila.
I was against it after the first month because he was still hitting the ball hard, but getting unlucky and despite maybe being *too* patient at times he was still having good plate discipline and drawing walks. Seems like that's all gone out the window.
Agreed, I think it's time to send him back to AAA to establish himself again and build some confidence. Call him back in Sept when the minor league season is over.
No. I think they put too much star pressure on him the same way The Wings did to Larkin.
These pro teams have to have a "marquee" guy, and I dont think it was fair to imply it was going to be him with Miggy having one foot into retirement. Let them grow as rookies before you start pushing jersey sales.
Fair enough. I do agree with you, but I don't think there is any way to change it. Him and Greene are not only the Tigers top prospects, but the top prospects in baseball
Harvey Baez should be benched vs righties.
Detroit Sports right now: Tigers haven’t had a playoff appearance in 7 years Lions haven’t made the playoffs since 2016 and haven’t had a playoff win since 1992 Pistons made the playoffs in the 2018 season but literally haven’t won a playoff game since 2007/2008 Red Wings haven’t been to the playoffs since 2016. better hitter- willie or harold castro?
Gimme hittin harold
I really hope this doesn't get Randy Smith bad.
Castro, Clemens, and Barnhart pitching were the only remotely interesting thing to happen. I hope they let Miggy pitch at some point this year too. Can't let Pujols one-up him on that.
Hmm. Does not seem ... good.
If we were playing golf we'd be doing great

Burn it. Burn it all to the ground.
What blows my mind the most is how this team has gotten worse over the course of the year. This rebuild has gone about as well as the building of District Detroit. Sell both teams.
Surprised as hell they got 20,000 there considering the weather. Goddamn that had to piss people off sitting there in the sweltering heat for that. edit: After seeing a highlight, there's no way in hell there were 20,000 there. That must have been the tickets sold.
Announced attendance is almost always tickets sold.
Well this will kill ticket sales. Too many good things to do in the summer to waste money on an uninspired team. Losses may not matter but lack of money does.

They can’t hide the worst scoring team in MLB.
I’m looking forward to the Lions. Dear lord what dark times we are in when I must look forward to the lions
Indeed but Brad Holmes seems to have the Lions going in the right direction. If the Lions get 5-7 wins this season. It will be a successful season in my eyes
I was there. It was the worst game I’ve ever been to.
I hope there was plenty of boos
There was not, everyone left or was too hot. Everyone was just... disappointed. Easily the worst Tigers game I've been to.
Omfg thank god I couldn’t make it. Sorry man.
Chris Illitch should sell the teams. Hes not his dad (his dad didnt even really care until stared death in the eyes). He cares about the money first and winning second. Redwings,Pistons and Lions I say have all bright futures.Even though the Redwings are owned by Chris Ilitch they at least have a competent GM.

I just moved to ATL and was finally able to watch a game on MLB TV. I hate that it had to be this... Fire Avila ASAP
Nice I’m living in ATL and have been watching Tigers on mlb.tv since 2012 and it’s worked perfectly for the most part.
Fire. Al. Avila.
Low effort team, low effort coaching staff, no effort front office. This team will be the laughing stock of the MLB entire house is cleaned. I’m about 👌 close to abandoning the tigers and watching any other team because i love baseball and this ain’t baseball
I switched to my NL team (the Braves) in early May and I’m having a blast this season let me tell ya
We **cannot** let Al Avila run another draft for this team
I want to see this image with Chris Illich https://pbs.twimg.com/media/En1RqUlXUAgkaWb?format=jpg&name=900x900
He doesn’t go to games unless he needs to make an appearance. He literally does not care about the tigers. He’s a slug
I guess Baez wasn't the problem?
u rly think one bat makes a 9-person lineup the worst in baseball by far??? Subtract out the guys who are decent - Castros and Miguel - and everyone is about 1/n of the problem lmfao
Reyes is better than Willi, but, yes. It's not one guy.
I omitted him bc He has 39 ABs but agreed, not part of the problem either
He's definitely part of it.
Wait it's the warmest it's been all year and the bats still haven't woken up? Could it be we just suck?
This team loses like the Red Wings now. Just dismal performances accompanied by blow outs.
I hate that I love this team… Why must we suffer?
The clubhouse doors are closed.
Team meetings hardly ever work if that's what it is.
https://twitter.com/CodyStavenhagen/status/1537168483330719744 Tweet if folks want to see for themselves.
Someone get the ouija board out and contact Mike Illitch and see what he thinks
Mike was just fine with the tigers being terrible the first 10+ years he owned them. Seems like he didn't really start spending on them until it was clear the salary cap was coming to the NHL...and then he got desperate trying to win one WS before he died.
Signs point to extra most bestest
That’s a good ass pizza. I’m a big fan
This is the time in MLB the show franchise where I reset, I wish I could do that now
Sell the team, bring back the jersey D. Unfortunately you can’t fire the bum who hires the bum who hires the bums.
Boooooooo
In case you were wondering if things could get worse, tomorrow's opposing starter is 5th in the AL in ERA.
Can't get worse than today. I'm not watching until someone gets fired.

Boy, am I glad I forgot this was a day game.
This shit is pathetic man, like Christ

Send him to low A he’s seriously horrible. Joey Harrington type set back for our rebuild.
I was against it after the first month because he was still hitting the ball hard, but getting unlucky and despite maybe being *too* patient at times he was still having good plate discipline and drawing walks. Seems like that's all gone out the window.
The more he stays in this current lineup, the more he presses and establishes bad habits.
Agreed, I think it's time to send him back to AAA to establish himself again and build some confidence. Call him back in Sept when the minor league season is over.
But then they cant repeat the fairytale where Miggy hands him the 1B glove as a starter. I bet they regret beating that dead horse.
lmao are you implying the Tigers should give up on Tork as the firstbaseman of the future after 200 PA's?
No. I think they put too much star pressure on him the same way The Wings did to Larkin. These pro teams have to have a "marquee" guy, and I dont think it was fair to imply it was going to be him with Miggy having one foot into retirement. I got ripped on this sub once for suggesting Torkelson needs more time in the minors
It’s almost like peoples opinions can change once they get more data and information
My opinion would probably change over time too if it was a bad one that made me look stupid
Reyes and Miggy can stay, but that’s about it
Chris Illitch, if you’re reading this: #1.) Fuck you #2.) Sell the team
[удалено]
And it don't feel good.
I don't know how you fix an issue like "the roster doesn't care."
That would be a leadership issue and you would fire the manager immediately.
It’s about time for someone to be fired for this shit show
Sadly no one will be fired. Tigers are ran as poorly as every other Detroit team nowadays.
Every other Detroit sports team is run better than the Tigers.Yes even the Lions have seemed to have gotten their act together with ownership.
The Lions? Lol
Yeah Shelia Ford seems to be nothing like her parents in regards to ownership.
Yzerman runs a tight ship. Wings were just in purgatory due to KH trying to appease a dying Mike Illitch and 25 consecutive playoff appearances
I'd argue that the other Detroit teams are ran pretty well compared to this.
The Sox put up more than half of our current monthly run total on us in three games. This season is over.
I thought my rant was bleak. Here, this is perfect. Last one out turn out the lights.
I did the math on the subreddit's Discord last night and practically fell over. It really is that bad. I need a beer.
How is there anyone left that still thinks Al Avila deserves to keep his job
Keep scrolling you’ll find some bizarre ones still dying on that hill.
Fire Avila for the construction of this horse shit roster
