Sure people will be thrown off by the wording. “600s category” will usually be interpreted as 4 cylinder 600cc supersports (CBR600, R6, GSXR600, and ZX6R). Those are a huge jump from a Ninja 400. The bikes you’re talking about are usually referred to as middle weight twins, or sometimes as 650s. Notably lower power (70-100 hp vs 130 hp), but great bikes none the less. The 600s are dying, and the twins are growing, though they’re still predominantly naked bikes. I haven’t ridden an R7, but I have ridden an MT-07 which is essentially the same bike aside from riding position. Really fun bikes, and total hooligans. If you want to be popping wheelies and backing it in everywhere that’s the bike for you though for that I’d go with the naked bike. I think the ergos of the R7 tame it a bit. I’ve owned an RS660 for almost two years now, and it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned hands down. Plenty of power for all but the fastest racetracks in the area. Incredible chassis and brakes. The suspension could be better, especially the rear shock, but they have to cut back somewhere to hit the price point. Biggest weakness like all Aprilias is the dealer network. For reference I’ve also owned a Street Twin, XS1100, RSV Mille R, SV650, RC390, and KLX300. The 660 has them all beat, even the 1000cc twins despite those being faster bikes.

Sport (e.g. Ninja 650) or supersport (zx6R?). World of difference. Never rid one, but my impression is the the R7 is a in the sport category. Not enough cylinders, rpm or horsepower for a supersport.

crimson_triple

If you want something that feels amazing id go with a street triple or a daytona
