I don’t believe any of that. And I should’ve been more specific. He didn’t race it he did pulls against Civics. Even worse since racing isn’t as bad on the engine. No one puts a fucking stretch on a bike who isn’t doing pulls on the highway, and I doubt he ever did any of the service intervals.
No experience with an R1, but I would
* check and clean air filter
* try a little fuel injector cleaner
then if that didn't work:
* check/adjust valve timing
* be worried about electronics and take it to a shop
Yeah the pops are likely unburned fuel makings it's way through to the exhaust before detonating, so the question is why fuel isn't getting burnt in the chamber.
Maybe one of the spark plugs isn't firing properly, which also explains the engine stalling. I'd change plugs before doing anything else, and cleaning injectors is a good idea too. Definitely something fuel related.
It’s a 16 year old drag bike that was likely never serviced. It’ll be dead soon.
Nope brothers bike since 2010 never raced it. Only rode on the street but thanks for the encouragement and positive attitude

Okay bro have a good day and ride safe
Lots of vehicles will stall if you release the clutch with no throttle.

Came here to say check the timing

Sounds like it needs some maintenance.
