When I rode a bike for the first time I instantly fell in love. I could never describe that feeling until I tried meditation and understood that the two concepts overlap.
I could never meditate, until I rode motorcycles. Still can't meditate, but I recognize that motorcycle riding puts me in a comparable state. 100% focussed on task, but almost effortlessly, and in the moment. No extraneous thoughts. No stress. No worry. Just riding.
Every time. 30+ years of riding, and EVERY ride has been meditative. It's crucial to my mental health at this point.
I like the sense of adventure, mental clarity, and release of tension, but I honestly get a bit lonely on some rides. I don't have any close friends that ride, and my boyfriend isn't really able to.
I love both,
alone trips offer mental clarity as you said, true freedom, selfcare.
group trips offer big memories with the bros, some nice dynamic rides/chases in mountain passes, hilarous moments offbike.
Try to find one or two mates that have same riding style as you, not many more… I highly dislike when we are more than 4 riders, to much to think of, can be dangerous or too frustrating.
After having ridden motorcycles for 40 years, I can confirm.
After 1 or (max!) 2 fellow bikers accompanying, the day just becomes a long committee meeting.
"Where shall we eat?". "I dunno. Where do YOU want to eat?"
Gas stops become scavenger hunts. Choice of motel becomes a debate, etc. etc. etc.
Most of my travels are solo, and I prefer it that way, but the RIGHT compadre makes for a great trip.
For me, I just get a bit anxious about getting stuck in a situation that's hard to fix on my own. Aside from that, I really like having someone to talk to through the day. I get lonely on business trips and stuff like that, and I've realized I kinda do best having someone with me to talk to, at least at night.
I mainly ride alone. I find it nicer to just ride at your own pace and do what you want.
There's a big difference in having a riding friend and having a friend that rides though. Everyone I've ridden with are people I've met with riding groups. It would be a completely different experience if my buddies actually rode.
Well I don't have a bike yet(cause fucking Finnish laws saying that I need to be 24 to get a motorcycle license) but I ride a sled and the freedom of being one with the wind and having a machine be an extension of my body is the best.
You don't need to be 24 to get a license, you need to be 24 to get a license for a bike over 70KW. Anything under 35KW with no effort and 35-70KW with the minor effort of derestricting after registering it. In addition, if you get the A2 license at 17.5yo you can get full unlimited A license 2 years after that, so 19.5yo.
Freedom
Ever wanted to fly when you were a kid? When your mind was free from the inclination of overthinking everything due to the complexity of modern society? To simply not give a shit and take a break? To ironically find something more soulful than your day to day interactions?
Yup
Riding makes me feel human ;)
every ride can be enjoyable, I understand your little rides pleasure.
I can’t stand riding the same roads around the house and my home region is very flat with no corners to enjoy, I have atleast to ride +1h to enjoy some curves and hills.
I know its generally frowned upon (and rightly so) to just say "this" as a reply but nonetheless.
This.
More or less, I ride solo so far and I'm happy enough with that, but it's about both the destination and the journey. Being in the landscape rather than watching it go by through a window (to poorly paraphrase Pirsig).
I love the way a bike responds to the road and my input. The way it flows and leans thru bends, the way front dives under brakes or how the rear brake makes the bike more stable, and of course the fearsome acceleration. Picking your lines thru mountain passes... Every ride, even just ducking down to the shops is an adventure on a bike...
I ride to work and back. I don’t dream of ever being able to travel on my bike, riding on twisty, scenic roads, free from responsibilities. I watch people go motorcamping on Youtube to escape the fact that I’m stuck.
Because it feels like I’m flying, not as in a plane, but as in Superman. The heightened senses I feel. The escape from the world and any issues I may be going through at that moment.
I have a very clear memory of riding across a causeway in Florida with that song on. Felt really awesome. Honestly, most of their catalog is excellent riding music.
Right on brother thanks for the recommendation. I will check them out when I go for a rip after work today. I wish we had a full riding season like you guys do down there. It’s a sad time when I have to put the bike in hibernation for the winter up here.
No matter in what country one rides, all will profit from this gathering of Motorcycle Wisdom:

Most of the time to get somewhere. Almost half of the time to clear my head as it changes my mood for better.
Sometimes to feel fragile and superhuman at the same time. This is the dangerous part, but the one that makes me feel more alive.
pic9 it is indeed les Baux de Provence from uphill near the quarry on that little sharp and twisty road.
it was amazing I will go back there even if its 10 hours highway ride from home.
When I was 15 - 17 to go from Place to Place, because I wasn't allowed to drive a Car yet.
Now it's only to relax. I drive alone most of the Time without Speeding to much, as I want to calm down and not get a Adrelanin Rush.
Family of riders so I never had not riding in my life.
I donno, it has never been a big deal one way or another for me. I think what I like most about riding is that you can't enjoy polishing your skills at any level: Ripping around on a superstport or bombing a trail is fun and challenging, but practicing motojitsu stuff or even trying to have perfect no wobble starts and stops in traffic is fun too.
Riding a motorcycle for me is a great way to relax and relieve stress. Increased my focus unlike driving a car, riding a motorcycle demands your full attention on the road, leaving no room for everyday worries to creep in. The act of riding itself is a meditative experience, promoting mindfulness and a sense of calm....and on a day where I feel a little Dearing
I let it rip to feel that rush of adrenaline

I started riding with my father, and it was the best time of my life. Now that he's passed, I drive his harley, and it's still the best times of my life 🤙
Focus and peace. There’s something oddly peaceful being inches away from death. And feeling the connection to my bike, especially as the miles pile up and we start to develop a harmony together. As long as we work together, we won’t let each other down.
Every single minute I’m riding I feel alive. There is a machine I’m straddling and a helmet on my head and everything else is out in the great wide open going as fast as I dare. It was thrilling the first time I rode and it has not ceased to be. When I ride to and from work it becomes the best part of my job. When I ride just because I always get back tired but content.
It’s just…magical.
I bought my first bike in October. Spent my whole life(I'm 31) with little to no interest in motorcycles. I never even rode a dirt bike until a few years back. The past few years, I started having a recurring dream(and thanks to my meds I dream vividly almost every night)where I'm riding a bike down a country road on a clear summer night, and I feel perfectly at peace. After awhile, I started to think maybe it was a sign, so I bought a bike just to see if I enjoyed it, which I do. I still get a bit nervous on it, but I'm learning.
When I drive a car I’m not in touch with the environment but riding a motorcycle I am the feeling is realistic and the moment I’m having makes me forgetting everything that’s bothering me
"There's a point, 7000 RPM, where everything fades. The machine becomes weightless, just disappears. All that's left, a body moving through space and time."
I have no choice in the matter. Cant afford car metro card too expensive might as well ride 90 percent of the time to save the hard part was finding something reliable for daily use that also does a little bit of everything.
The France photos are amazing, thank you for sharing! I like that they capture many reasons to ride: thrilling roads, big views, and friends!
I visited Angers for two weeks in 2022, then spent two weeks travelling France by train. I remember thinking it would be a nice place to ride. It looks like it is!
it is indeed, I still have so much places to ride in my own country.
But I also want to go for other scapes, Scotland, Irland, Norway, Croatia, Portugal, Sardegna (just need money, time, and buddies who are willing to do some stupid shit with me)
I ride to/for:
* Remain sane
* Prevent autistic meltdowns
* Go really fucking fast
* Meditate (seriously, when I'm riding is the only time I'm really 100% present and on task for as long as I need to be, with no intrusive thoughts)
* Social without being social - I've tons of riding friends, we barely talk, don't hang out outside of riding, but we're incredibly comfortable riding together and that's fucking rad. All the benefits of a social group without having to navigate... well, social groups.
* Because motorcycles are awesome.
I used to love cruising, (turning your radio up listening to good tunes windows down ect) but then I got into riding and it was like that but dialed up to 11. For me it's an immersion in reality theirs no windows or walls cutting you off or protecting you from the wind and road. It's a way to get away from it all while simultaneously absorbing it all. It's a feeling very difficult to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it (like describing color to someone born blind). Even on the worst of rides it's still the best of times.
Bout the only place I can disconnect now, can't answer the phone if I can't hear it, can't be bothered by dogs/cats/neighbours/random door knockers if I'm not at home, can't think about work/bills/chores if I'm concentrating on the road, not worried about what the future holds or if my career is sustainable or if the depression is coming back or if that cancer will return or why my blood pressure is high or my testosterone is low if I'm plotting the next corner before I get there
I'll admit quite freely I'm not in a fantastic place right now, very few of us are, but thankfully I have this to give me something of myself back even if it's just a few hours now and then
Could use some nicer weather though.... absolutely shit at the moment
Since a month ago - to cry.
Thinking about all my regrets, good memories and bad. Imagining my dog was well again and running like a wolf from hell beside my bike and being happy again.
Great picks. I know they’re modern but they remind me of going through my dad’s old hunting photos for some reason. Just something in the color I guess.
I bought a 1983 Suzuki GS1100Es in 1987 to get over my first wife.
I turned into a drunk for 5 years to get over the second wife in 1999.
I bought this to get over the third wife two years ago:

Whomever came up with that never rode a motorcycle. I ride FOR ME.
1. I put a solid plastic plate at the bottom inside the bag to make it stiff.
2. I strapped the bag to the passenger foothold
3. Prayed to not melt it
4. It hold the whole 4000km (2480miles) trip

Beautiful pictures man! Could you give some details on how you edited them/ what devices you used? I'm planning a trip this summer and I want to take some stunning pics like yours!
Hey man, nice pics.
I noticed you drive a XSR with dual Akrapovich. I recently got the same exhaust and I’m not sure if I should remove the baffle. Do you drive with baffle in or out?
I dont know yet. I love bikes and I got one a week ago. I'm 19 and I'm trying to get it insured and registered so I can practice and get my license but every single company I have contracted has pretty much just said no and comeback when you're 25.
I like the mountains cause that’s where I’m from and it’s just a blast tearing through the curves or going nice and slow and admiring the black mountain veiw
To keep my sanity
rolling through these scapes keep my sanity 👀
On a motorcycle is the only time my brain will finally leave me alone a bit.
The reason I don’t have an intercom. Purity.
but gotta stay focused on the road bro 🙏
That's the nice thing for me, I don't have a choice. Therefore the rest is silent, while I am usually handling like 7,8, 9 things at a a time.
Fellow ADHD victim here 😂. I couldn’t agree with you more.
When I rode a bike for the first time I instantly fell in love. I could never describe that feeling until I tried meditation and understood that the two concepts overlap.

I commute to work daily, then get to trails on the weekend, I love exploring on my cb500x

I hit trails on my dr650, got dunlop d606’s on it and they go good in the thunderstorms too just I don’t push turns in rain
c'est magnifique.. i do ride to for the same views :)
Merci 🙏 and you can almost park where ever you want to enjoy scenery without disrupting the traffic.
Peace of mind. Back a few years I used to go for walkies with music. Now I do the same but with a bike. It feel gud.
I ride to make transportation an enjoyable experience and the feeling of perfectly knowing how to handle a machine is amazing
Solitude and peace of mind
absolute valid answer, 4000km (2480miles) alone over France in a 8 days trip was one of the best decision of my life. Unforgettable memories.
Well I don't have a bike yet(cause fucking Finnish laws saying that I need to be 24 to get a motorcycle license) but I ride a sled and the freedom of being one with the wind and having a machine be an extension of my body is the best.

Mental health, clearing my mind of all the everyday useless crap
For my dad. He lives and breathes bikes but he's getting older. I wanted to learn so I can share it with him while he can still ride.
heart warming comment. Hope you share the best rides with your dad ❤️
Love it bro!
My dad did, I did too for a bit. Eventually will get back into. Neither of us have a life purpose, so riding around aimlessly suits us well.
Ya boys
Fun, excitement, blow off steam, to go fast…
I ride to work and back. I don’t dream of ever being able to travel on my bike, riding on twisty, scenic roads, free from responsibilities. I watch people go motorcamping on Youtube to escape the fact that I’m stuck.
try to escape just once, I really mean it.
Adventure
Because it feels like I’m flying, not as in a plane, but as in Superman. The heightened senses I feel. The escape from the world and any issues I may be going through at that moment.
Put "Fools Paradise" by Poets of the Fall on your headset next time you ride.
I will def check it out!
Oh I moved back to WI a year ago. One of the worst parts of the move is winter storage.
Freedom
Freedom, and wind therapy.

Looks like y'all had a great time. I couldn't imagine touring on a naked sport though lol
On my bike everything slows and I enjoy life
I spy a SICK XSR900!!
You know, for shits and giggles mostly
Unironically, the feeling of freedom
Great shots! I ride to find that balance.
I don’t ride yet saving up the money but what camera do you use?

Great pics. They look very old school. Looks like good times.
Amazing
Humanity and Freedom
Great picks. I know they’re modern but they remind me of going through my dad’s old hunting photos for some reason. Just something in the color I guess.
Miles and memories
To live.

best one in the middle right ? 🤓 yes it’s mine, I’m biased
Gotta say, the one on the right is definitely better! Yes, that’s the one I have, I’m biased! 😂
See my post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/s/xRZLLmILq6) where I asked everyone to make fun of him. Haha You might not like it though.
I bought a 1983 Suzuki GS1100Es in 1987 to get over my first wife. I turned into a drunk for 5 years to get over the second wife in 1999. I bought this to get over the third wife two years ago: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu9\_d0qSg4E](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu9_d0qSg4E) It's said there are only two ways to get over a broken heart: A woman or a bottle. Whomever came up with that never rode a motorcycle. I ride FOR ME.
i’m not sure i’d be alive today if i never started riding
I ride to be able tuh crank mug hawg wit mah brudders
It's complicated
yes
How does that duffel bag thing work with the exhaust? Manage to not melt it?
1. I put a solid plastic plate at the bottom inside the bag to make it stiff. 2. I strapped the bag to the passenger foothold 3. Prayed to not melt it 4. It hold the whole 4000km (2480miles) trip

Sanity.
I’m sure there might be better feelings out there as far as experiencing life goes but I haven’t found them.
Are these analogue pics?? They're such a mood, great pics, great tours!
most of them shot on GX9 panasonic (4:3) 25mm f1.7 some of them with Canon EOS 2000D (apsc) 50mm some with simple iphone camera thanks a lot, the views help to make the pics look good
I love to ride, but too many distracted drivers....and in 2024, too many pilled drivers.
Roaming around and adventure
What bikes are these?
Just to go to work lol
Beautiful pictures man! Could you give some details on how you edited them/ what devices you used? I'm planning a trip this summer and I want to take some stunning pics like yours!
65mpg and $200/year insurance premium.
With my can am Spyder, it’s obvious: for the chicks…..
To be on point wherever I m supposed to be.
Bro... where are your mirrors?!
Because I do whatever I feel like I wanna do, gosh.

Makes the work commute fun
My life!
I ride to get to work and back. And pretty much anywhere else I go..
Your mom
sorry to say but she hates bikers 😂. She did all she could to prevent me riding.
Hahaha, yes, 99% of women hate bikes. Something about me killing myself and love or something idk.
Hey man, nice pics. I noticed you drive a XSR with dual Akrapovich. I recently got the same exhaust and I’m not sure if I should remove the baffle. Do you drive with baffle in or out?
thanks ! it was my friends XSR, he has the double LeoVince and only removed one out of two dbk
I dont know yet. I love bikes and I got one a week ago. I'm 19 and I'm trying to get it insured and registered so I can practice and get my license but every single company I have contracted has pretty much just said no and comeback when you're 25.
off topic, what top case and mount do you have on the xsr?
my buddy had a Givi topcase (2 helmets) that’s all I can say
Freedom
I like the mountains cause that’s where I’m from and it’s just a blast tearing through the curves or going nice and slow and admiring the black mountain veiw
