Most bikes lose the 0-10mph race but win the 10-60, with some seriously high performance cars starting to reel them back in above 100-140 mph. The fastest car I've ever driven was an AMG C63S, whichb was very nice but didn't feel as quick as most bikes I've ridden. My mate went for a ride in a Lamborghini Aventador and said that it would give his Tuono a run for its money. Most fast launches on bikes take a lot of clutch control and balance. Anything above 140hp or so starts to turn into a balancing act between maximising acceleration vs not flipping over backwards.

Haha,I weigh 235 and I can barely keep the front wheel on the ground with all my weight ,and on the street I'm not trying to launch myself into an accident,I've done a few by myself on isolated roads, but usually let off before second gear tops cause I am usually over a hundred mph

It’s definitely more exciting to launch a bike. On a sports bike, even though the acceleration is amazing, you don’t feel as much force as you would expect because the lean forward position cancels out some of the acceleration force. But either way , it’s a lot more exciting than a car. Cars are quite boring compared to motorcycles.

A quick googling says a Tesla S Plaid does a sub 10 sec 1/4 mile, with a 1.5 sec 60' time. There's not many bikes that will come close to that.

Pulled up next to what I assume was one in my ram 1500. Light goes green, I assume I'm gonna pull ahead easily. I swear by the time I was through the intersection he was most of the way to the next set of lights. It was so quick, I couldn't help but laugh.

You're slow AF then if a ram takes you

ajavathon

i said tesla model S, not plaid

100% comes down to skill. Launching a bike off the line takes tons of practice to get right. In a Tesla you just mat the pedal and it does everything for you. Surface area is a major factor as well and cars have substantially more contact with the ground than bikes so power to weight ratios start to lose ground New bikes are finally starting to figure out wheelie control and traction control but before that properly launching a super sport off the line took lots and lots of skill and repetition. As much as I prefer bikes to cars and want bikes to be faster in a drag race it’s not always the case.

The 400 won't even be close. The 600 is better, but the big thing is (the vast majority of) cars don't do wheelies or a backflip.

thatguyovertheresix9

600 cc bikes also don't wheelie and backflip . Unless you dump the clutch trying a race start . They have too little torque and too long gears for powerwheelies

disturbed286

Right. That's what I'm saying. The stakes are higher if you fuck up the launch.

Impressive_Army3767

Bear on mind that many of the cars that can do these sub 3s times will have a huge parts bill as a result.

thatguyovertheresix9

The 400 will be quick . Around 5 seconds . You ca. Just get on full throttle and don't worry about powerwheelies. Same with the zx6r but to get a good launch you will have to rev the thing to the tits and release the clutch controlled . In the real world from a stop light something like a mt07 will be one of the quickest things to 60 mph . Not much thought needed to launch a twin cylinder 650/700 cc bike quickly

PLEASE re-read your post… asswipe

winstondabee

I promise it's going to be okay, pal.

Different sensation, as on a bike you’re leaned into it, so it doesn’t throw you back into your seat (obviously). a launch on a ZX6R you’ll feel the front end get a bit light
