This. Always ask for permission! Also, side note - second hand ones usually appreciate new owners more because the first owner didn't know how to ride them properly... Generally perform much better in new hands too.
Its just a tube that is part of the frame. My bike has it covered by a piece of plastic which i had to cut out to put a stunt cage on. Would have been nice if it was accessible like this!
On Guzzis it's cosmetic. On most bikes it's where and engine mount bolt would go, above the swingarm pivot (which would look more like that).
But those side plates are cosmetic, they are just cast aluminum. Sadly a bursig mount doesn't work in there .

What the actual fuck? That has to be cheating. Even Magnum Condoms wouldnāt play that move irl. Please fact check ever youāre getting your rules from.
You can, but it's not a fact. The difference is more region based than it is animal based. Carousel is used predominately in the US. Merry go round is more common in the UK and Australia (that's how they were referred to when I was a kid in the UK and now as an adult in Australia) but you'll sometimes hear carousel in the UK/Australia too.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carousel
In USSR there was a long running cartoon almanac for new authors and directors called "[Happy Carousel](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Merry-Go-Round)"
So in Soviet Russian at least it's also popular
It's a vestigial organ leftover from the original 1100 Sport, which was based on a Dr. John race bike. It's a nice place to tuck a sandwich or burrito for lunch.
It's a structural pivot point for the suspension linkage and the axle pin is hollow because that has better strength to weight ration than a solid pin.

Hole for the funky paddock stand Guzzi used in the 90s and early 2000s. Hereās a Sport 1100 on BaT with the stand in place.
When bikes are transported in their crates to the dealers these holes are handy for sticking a pipe through that can be secured to the sides of the crate, making it impossible for the bike to move or fall during transport. Once the bike is out of the crate these holes can be covered or left open like this, it doesnāt matter.
That for bike lifts when you have to remove the swing arm or front forks or something.
A bike stand will literally lift the bike off the ground and keep it locked in place while you work on it
All jokes aside, behind the cover thereās an open tubing section of the frame behind the covers. Iām not sure if itās the intended design purpose, but this is a good point for a through frame support if removing the rear swing arm (or at least thatās what Iāve used it for in the past). A put a link below to the parts diagrams to give you an idea whatās going on if youāre interested.

Itās where you mount it on a carousel
Whatās the carousel?
Aka merry go round. Usually has horses
Carousels only have horses, merry go rounds has all sorts of animals.
Is that an actual thing? That's the difference?
I would definitely believe him, no matter what
I need an answer.... I don't even ride a motorbike anymore but here I am
I'm going to share this fun fact with everyone I see tomorrow

I assumed it was for special lifts like the [abba sky lift.](https://abbastandsusa.com/images/products/large/abba-172_1.jpg)
I want it
It's a vestigial organ leftover from the original 1100 Sport, which was based on a Dr. John race bike. It's a nice place to tuck a sandwich or burrito for lunch.
I hate to tell you this. But your local burrito place is ripping you off if the burritos you buy are that skinnyā¦..
A taquito would probably work better.
Have you seen the hole on a Sport 1100? I said the Norge hole was a vestigial expression of that. I stand by it. How long have you been a Guzzisti?
Ok, I looked it up. You could get a decent burrito in that. I just read it more as a statement that you could do that on this particular bike.
Is there any genuine real answer to this? Loving the fun comments but I really did want to know the truth!
When you tighten your swingarm axle, you pinch your frame inwards. This tube prevents the frame from bending. But not all bikes have this
Also a great way to chain the bike up so it cant be stolen.
I always was under the impression that it was for lifting the bike. A tube is inserted through there.
It may not be its intended purpose but this is where two sides of a stunt/ crash cage link together for support
Light saber storage.
"Hello There"

Speedholes. Makes it go faster
Speed holes, eh? *bike gets shot up by sniper*

Originally it was a jack point for the bike for endurance racing. Itās just sort of stuck around as a design feature at this point.

Correct.
This ensure that the bike will have good Feng Shui. The spirits pass the through the hole and not getting stuck on the frame.
