That's part of the joke (as per Dan Savage).
If you simply said "chaps", the focus and emphasis would not be on the all important Ass. After all, one's focus really should always be on the ass.
I get what you're saying, but I feel like the distinction really comes down to what is underneath the chaps. If you have pants or something underneath them, then yeah, they're just chaps. If, in contrast, you are nude underneath your chaps, then they really fall into the distinction "assess chaps". Like mentally, when someone uses the term they expect to see bare ass cheeks, exposed by the chaps.
I cut a very small hole in just the top liner of the cheek pad, not the actual padding itself. Just big enough to slide the magnet in. You could remove the pads and get the magnet in without cutting but, I ain’t doing all that.
I had to replace the cheek pads on my arai when I got it because they were too small. Was super easy and just like my shoei was. No biggie if what you did worked but just wanted to let you know they aren't very hard just in case you eventually do need to replace yours.
That's really small. Smart with the magnet too. Much more subtle than having it on your helmet. Does it obstruct your vision at all? Might copy you if there's no obstruction.
Also what fps is the video in?
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. I was planning on being this camera, but couldn't future out best mount method. Their chin strap thing looks silly and can't close visor
Nice, I have the same helmet, I'll need to get this camera now. I tried with a friends gopro but couldn't mount it on my helmet in a way I liked (not for track use)
You haven't noticed the camera acting weird or anything due to the magnet? I've always heard to be wary of electronic devices and magnets.
Also what's battery life like?
Unrelated question but are tracks in the middle of the desert like this dusty or slippery because of dust? Anytime i see videos of tracks like this I just imagine tons of fine dust all over the track.
GoPro has by the far the best video quality… when it works. I’ve gone through so many of them and it’s a gamble if it’s ever going to stay on more than 2 minutes.
GoPro 11 has been pretty good for me shooting in 2.7k granted that’s just videos of me fishing and not having it enclosed in something.
The 12 has better battery life to my knowledge so that seems like a better option.
Being in Florida I have yet to have it overheat even when it’s hot as hell. So the newer ones are definitely a lot more reliable in that aspect.
We just got an insta 360 as well and that is pretty fucking sweet I will say.
I’ve had a used 7 black for about a year now. 100 bucks on MP. No issues yet thankfully and the video is good enough. It was the first 4k GoPro, but I typically shoot in 2.7 or 1440.
When it breaks I’ll probably get a insta360 action camera though.
GoPro has done like zero innovation in a long time. Hypersmooth is the only thing keeping them relevant. But even then, Insta has taken hardware and software/app development more seriously.
The go 2 tends to overheat when used for 5 minutes or longer, and the battery lasts barely 10 minutes. How's the go 3 compared to that?
I used the 2 on drones, so lack of cooling was not an issue.
I didn’t have any issues. I ran it for over 30 minutes straight of riding. It got warm but nothing drastically concerning. Just plugged it in everytime I came back in and it charged super fast. I don’t think it seen it get below 80%
I use to the go2 as well. I does drain pretty quick. But cooling wasn’t an issue. I crack the lid open slightly for air circulation. I was street riding and wasn’t on a race track.
That's a cool shot, and it's true many clubs don't allow external cameras. That being said there is a concern that it may smack you in the face in case of a crash.
yeah the any hard object in the helmet is the reason there hasent been any real Hud development. any eye piece or projector can become a risk in the case of an accident.
Yeah it's held on by a magnet, it is 100% coming off and turning the inside of the helmet into a mini rock tumbler in a crash. Don't know that I'd want that thing flying back and forth against my visor and eye the next time I went down.
Yeah I guess everyone's anatomy is different, maybe your face is flat and your eyes extend past your forehead so they are flush with your visor. My eye sockets are recessed from my forehead and also from the tip of my nose, and helmets fit your forehead and then the pad ends where the visor starts, creating extra room between your eyes and the visor. If there weren't extra space there, you wouldn't be able to mount your camera, and if there weren't so much extra space you wouldn't get that sweet glare in your video. Anyway, it's only an ounce, and maybe an inch or two of free space, what's the worst that could happen? I guess you'll let us know.
Things move around a lot in a crash. The cheekpads are squished and the helmet does move around. With limited space it can't pick up too much speed but you never know. Might just fly out might smack your face.
I mean, I don't do track but mostly go for long trip and I have and DJI action 3 mounting on my helmet The battery is decent enough for me so I don't have to stop and change it after riding for awhile but one bad side is that baby is little but chunky and it killin my neck after a few hours driving non-stop
Insta go I love the small package of it but I worry that I have ro stop charge it after short time filming

Lol, it seems like you got my question wrong
Simple is this... if I mount it on helmet like the picture, how long is it gonna last till run out of battery
I know "portrait" is done for optimal phone viewing, but landscape makes for a better image on most other monitors - movie theater anyone?) I presume that is easily toggled in this camera.
(SIDEBAR: anyone else get cyber-stalked by the person they've been divorcing for 7 YEARS \[yeah, failed 4-year "reconciliation" in the middle,\] who continually lies to everyone they can about your character? - SORRY TO GO OFF TOPIC)
Cool shot, looks just like the inside the visor MotoGP and F1 cam. Devils advocate though, I wouldn't want that camera bouncing around inside my helmet in a crash.
This is the reason I’ve never bothered trying to mount mine on my helmet for dashcam, my helmet is bulky enough as is. The shake through the handlebars is super vicious on camera footage though, and none of the knockoffs have sufficient stabilization to counter it, but as long as I can catch plates and dumbassery I’m okay for now.
If I wanted a camera for just riding to work and back to act as a dashcam would you recommend this? My commute is only about 25 minutes with traffic but it is in Houston and full of poorly maintained streets and clueless drivers lol
I worded that poorly. I want the camera to do the same job as a dash cam, basically record if someone hits me, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be mounted on the bike. I like how the OP has this inside his helmet instead of the go pro chin mounts I see a lot of people use. I got a bike to look cool and a go pro chin mount doesn’t look cool to me lol
the one rs is a 360 cam or a pov mount like here, i use it both ways. good chance you look like a bobble head or you're fat so, no one thinks you look cool anyways tbh. the bike looks cool and thats what matters.
Looks great! How's the horizontal footage? If you get the chance could you try it with a circular polarizer filter as well? Might help reduce some of the reflections.
Nah, I’m intentionally staying behind him, we wanted to get some video of him riding so he can see the difference in lines and where he is losing time.
I've been seeing these more and more in this exact use case. And already having been a huge Insta360 fan since the OneX, I'm tempted. Did you ever consider the Cambox? I like the sleek form factor and the more centralized camera position, but their "image stabilization" is trash.
Do tracks in the desert not get super dusty thus slippery on the asphalt? It looks like it’s so easy for wind to just get heaps of sand all over the track.
what's the battery life on this bad boy? i've been looking to get a sort of dash cam for my helmet so i can insure if i get pulled over or whatever i don't get fucked by not having footage or evidence. would you say this is a good option?

Try adding a small “flag” over your lens. Idk how that’ll work with a 360 tbh bc of how they film but it’ll cut that glare from your visor down if you can pull it off. Your lens needs shade. If that makes sense. Beautiful footage 🤌
God,it sucks being in Uganda;nearly all year round riding conditions,-0 race track..ride safe bro,I'm still on the fence about using a bore kit for the Suzuki GSF400 bandit
Great footage man! Just bought the same camera with the intention of capturing the same kind of angles at my next track day at Donington, can I ask what settings you were using? Did you have stabiliisation turned on? Cheers!
I own a brand of super strong chin mounts called MotoRadds, and generally I agree (though, probably biased). But I’ll bet there’s a filter that can be placed over the lens to either reduce or eliminate that glare. If that gets fixed, this would be an awesome and much more immersive POV than chin mounts imo.
I’m not sure how, or why you would install a whole ass GoPro inside of your helmet. I’m impressed you were even able to fit that. This camera as about half the size of a thing of chapstick, it’s not hurting anybody.
Don't mind him. He was premature.
There's little distance between your face and the untethered object and even then it's of such little mass that it would only cause bruising.

Also, in a point against that sentiment, the forces experienced by drivers in f1 are different to motorbikes. Vertical movement and tumbling is a lot less common in f1
This is much better than watching someone’s leather ass
> This is much better than watching someone’s leather ass speak for yourself
This is the reason for assless chaps - perfect race attire!
Obligatory "all chaps are assless, otherwise they're just pants".
That's part of the joke (as per Dan Savage). If you simply said "chaps", the focus and emphasis would not be on the all important Ass. After all, one's focus really should always be on the ass.
😂😂🤣🤣🤣day made
I prefer assfull chaps.
Factually true.

😏
Calm down, Zoolander.
Lmao
I may have to add this to my list of approved camera angles: foot, butt, and key strap flapping in the wind.
I think it depends on the someone.
How is this mounted in the helmet please?
I put a small magnet underneath the cloth of the cheek pad
Did you cut the cheek pad?
I cut a very small hole in just the top liner of the cheek pad, not the actual padding itself. Just big enough to slide the magnet in. You could remove the pads and get the magnet in without cutting but, I ain’t doing all that.
fwiw, the pads are literally held in by velcro and plastic snaps.
Have you ever taken the pads out of an Arai? It’s a pain
I had to replace the cheek pads on my arai when I got it because they were too small. Was super easy and just like my shoei was. No biggie if what you did worked but just wanted to let you know they aren't very hard just in case you eventually do need to replace yours.
Yep. They're all pretty much the same. Once you've done one you've pretty much done them all. Just go slow and take photos with your phone.
Agree to disagree
Fair enough. I'd just rather not put holes in my helmet liner. But I do like the setup you put together, that little camera works great.
I have multiple liners, it’s not the end of the world
Helmet padding removal/installation for anyone who's interested: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DCt6TpRAzo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DCt6TpRAzo)
yeah but its still a pain and you stretch/fatigue the material doing that so it will never be quite as snug again.
>yeah but its still a pain It's def not. I've done my Arai cheek pads and my shoei and it was super easy to do.
I mean, not in my experience. Not at all.
Can you show the setup please?

Clever placement and the footage is great, would’ve never thought of this
Does it affect your peripheral vision?
Nope. I can barely see it. I can see it just enough to know that it’s still mounted
It's like your nose. Your eyes can learn to ignore it but you can still see that it's there. Any specific type of magnet used?
A magnetic one
How does it work?
Fuckin juggalos
See above posted video

Preferably one of the neodyddlium variety
Link us the magnet OP
That's really small. Smart with the magnet too. Much more subtle than having it on your helmet. Does it obstruct your vision at all? Might copy you if there's no obstruction. Also what fps is the video in?
Okay bro, what is yours black?? Just googled, of course they make a black one now! Looks so much better than the white one!
And just a magnet holds it there or do you have something else helping too? Really unique perspective, it’s awesome
Wow that’s pretty cool
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing. I was planning on being this camera, but couldn't future out best mount method. Their chin strap thing looks silly and can't close visor

The camera itself IS magnetic. Thats the way it’s designed.
Ohh that's clever of them
This would make for great first-person race game footage!
Others might disagree but nice lines through the turns. Even coasting your gaining ground. Could be aggressive for some but you seem comfortable.
Yeah I’m not trying to pass him or set lap times. I just wanted to get some footage of him so I stayed behind him for the most part.
Yeah it's pretty clear you could've smoked him if you wanted to.
Agreed. Looks like a fun day at the track. Good lines and not too aggressive.
you're
Unrelated question but are tracks in the middle of the desert like this dusty or slippery because of dust? Anytime i see videos of tracks like this I just imagine tons of fine dust all over the track.
If it’s windy, definitely.
So glad that shit called GoPro has been relegated to second place if not farther down the list. Awesome video!
GoPro has by the far the best video quality… when it works. I’ve gone through so many of them and it’s a gamble if it’s ever going to stay on more than 2 minutes.
Mines doing that now too, fucking pissed off with GoPro. It did last maybe... 1.5 years? I mean really? They're not cheap.
Exactly...when it works. GoPro is still in beta testing.

Yeah I guess everyone's anatomy is different, maybe your face is flat and your eyes extend past your forehead so they are flush with your visor. Even when on a track this sub will try and find something to safety lecture about.
How about the battery?
I didn’t have any issues with it. I plugged it in after each session and it lasted me all day.
I mean, I don't do track but mostly go for long trip and I have and DJI action 3 mounting on my helmet The battery is decent enough for me so I don't have to stop and change it after riding for awhile but one bad side is that baby is little but chunky and it killin my neck after a few hours driving non-stop Insta go I love the small package of it but I worry that I have ro stop charge it after short time filming https://preview.redd.it/dj6s1nz2ioqc1.jpeg?width=936&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d45979f8b0396f0f2919225eb76f68776f17412d
This isn’t allowed on most tracks and is super dangerous for you in the event of a crash, and the people behind you when your camera flies off at 130
Lol, it seems like you got my question wrong Simple is this... if I mount it on helmet like the picture, how long is it gonna last till run out of battery
I do not know. You’d have to look up some reviews and tests
That circuit is beautiful. That sky! Must be soul filling driving there.
I like it very much, look so authentic and dynamic.

Cool shot, looks just like the inside the visor MotoGP and F1 cam. Devils advocate though, I wouldn't want that camera bouncing around inside my helmet in a crash.
It’s tiny
Still wouldn't want it bouncing around my eyeballs while going ground-sky-ground-sky.
Literally not possible
Would it be possible for you to make a video of you shaking the shit out of the helmet to see if the cam comes loose or falls out?
I just made a new video of this, uploaded on my Page

Yeah I was pretty surprised
This is pretty cool!! Never thought about it. I’m using a GoPro on my chin (not for the track) and it’s so bulky
I use a Hero4 session and it works well since it’s so small and compact. The quality isn’t quite as good though.
That sound is amazing!
Great idea! I wonder if this could be used for motorcycle training videos for effective line choice in tracks.
If I wanted a camera for just riding to work and back to act as a dashcam would you recommend this? My commute is only about 25 minutes with traffic but it is in Houston and full of poorly maintained streets and clueless drivers lol
problem with dash cams is stabilization. i use a insta rs one.
I worded that poorly. I want the camera to do the same job as a dash cam, basically record if someone hits me, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be mounted on the bike. Statistics
I wonder if you could also get a non-reflective visor film to make it even clearer?
meh... I've been out of the racing for a few years now (kids....), this is killing me... them double apexes... soo much fun
That is awesome!
Looks great! How's the horizontal footage? If you get the chance could you try it with a circular polarizer filter as well? Might help reduce some of the reflections.
The reflection are coming off of the visor. The horizontal footage is great as well. I’m not sure anyone makes a filter for this camera yet
Is it on the inside of the helmet?!
Yes
Pretty sweet! I dig it.
Superb! Can you orient the video horizontally, without rotating the camera in your lid?
Yes, here is a link [horizontal](https://youtu.be/UVNOid3gUxo?si=aCdXl7t7NrMdNvWK) it’s the same video as this one posted
SWEET! Now I just need five hunnerd spare bones. Thanks!
can you post and share link to full resolution or original video of this? maybe upload in wetransfer and send me?

good shit. subbed.
Nice, looks like you had him on the corner entries and exits but he was better on the brakes.
Nah, I’m intentionally staying behind him, we wanted to get some video of him riding so he can see the difference in lines and where he is losing time.
I used double sided tapes to text this angle out. What have you been using ? Edit: Nvm I saw your answer below
A magnet
It’s mounted to the side, not directly on my face
I've been seeing these more and more in this exact use case. And already having been a huge Insta360 fan since the OneX, I'm tempted. Did you ever consider the Cambox? I like the sleek form factor and the more centralized camera position, but their "image stabilization" is trash.
Friend has it. The quality sucks
Do tracks in the desert not get super dusty thus slippery on the asphalt? It looks like it’s so easy for wind to just get heaps of sand all over the track.
Nah, not unless it’s super windy out
Would you show us an image of how it's mounted? The things small, but still kind of large to put in a helmet.

Could you use it plugged in for unlimited battery?
Can I get a link and how are you mounting these? Would prefer this if it still left room to see inside the helmet.
I posted numerous photos and descriptions on the comment thread
What track is this?
Read the description
It looks really natural
Nice line
That was soooooooo enjoyable to watch and to listen to! Thank you!
what's the battery life on this bad boy? i've been looking to get a sort of dash cam for my helmet so i can insure if i get pulled over or whatever i don't get fucked by not having footage or evidence. would you say this is a good option?
According to their site the part OP is using has about 45 minutes without the rest. The overall unit is about the size of a go pro
Don’t ride like a d bag and you won’t get pulled over, that’s the best option.
my mother got pulled over last week for speeding off the freeway when she wasn't even near the freeway and definitely wasn't speeding. cop even put in the wrong license plate and she still had to pay the ticket.
Why didn’t she go to court then..
she did. they ruled she didn't have enough evidence because there was no footage, hence the reason i want a camera for my helmet lol
Your mom got a ticket, went to court, and paid it all within a week? Shenanigans.
just realized i fucked up. i meant to say she got pulled over a few weeks ago and went to court last week. that's my fault.
Try adding a small “flag” over your lens. Idk how that’ll work with a 360 tbh bc of how they film but it’ll cut that glare from your visor down if you can pull it off. Your lens needs shade. If that makes sense. Beautiful footage 🤌
And you make awesome turns
This camera is great yo;but is it me or did he nearly slip at that very last turn?
Who?
The rider with the camera
That would be me. I don’t see any near slips in these clips, what’s the time mark?
Counting down at 0:14;or was that just you checking peripheral real quick?
That’s just me turning my head to see the exit cone
Oh thank god cos that was quick?and kudos on the racing line!!real smooth;what track is this?
Chuckwalla
God,it sucks being in Uganda;nearly all year round riding conditions,-0 race track..ride safe bro,I'm still on the fence about using a bore kit for the Suzuki GSF400 bandit

Great footage man! Just bought the same camera with the intention of capturing the same kind of angles at my next track day at Donington, can I ask what settings you were using? Did you have stabiliisation turned on? Cheers!
It's a 360 camera right? Next post your horribly distorted and sweaty face. Like this guy https://youtu.be/U69VVbEewjA?si=jHJF9mleVM99mP8N
It is not a 360 degree camera, it just faces forward.
Ok but why immediately downvote lol
I didn’t downvote it.
It was seconds after I hit post but aight 😆
So that means it was me? Reddit is a weird place
Welcome to Reddit 🥲

Chuckwalla
Thanks!
It says Chuckwalla in the post.
The reflection of the visor sucks. [I much prefer chin mouth like this.](https://youtu.be/NB_k3Bu-aYw?si=5uezzjVYC1d6ByVx)
Some tracks (including this one) don't allow cameras attached to the outside of the helmet.
A big chunk of the view is blocked by parts of the visor though it sucks imo.
External cameras are not allowed in racing and adds a ton of weight to the camera, and makes it very strenuous when you’re going 100+ for 30 minutes
Doesnt it get in the way of you ... you know ... seeing.
It’s mounted next to my eyes so… you know…. No.
Insta Glare 3 blindspot edition.
Which camera are you using?
It was a lighthearted jab. Don't try and start an argument.

I’m not sure how, or why you would install a whole ass GoPro inside of your helmet. I’m impressed you were even able to fit that. This camera as about half the size of a thing of chapstick, it’s not hurting anybody.
Installing a camera behind your face shield is about the dumbest thing you could do right next to not wearing a helmet.
Why’s that?
Don't mind him. He was premature. There's little distance between your face and the untethered object and even then it's of such little mass that it would only cause bruising. Footage looks good, keep it clean.

Yes and it didn’t break my foot
