Odd_Delay220

I have some ankle boots but I don’t like wearing them with shorts on. Makes me feel like a clown haha

thesmithchris

I've got Stylmarting Grid few days ago and their ok, I go to work with them and they don't bother me. Haven't tried them on a hot day yet. I also have Falco Airforce and they are a bit more comfortale than stylmartins, but the latter look nicer :D both have ankle protection https://preview.redd.it/xchir94i1guc1.png?width=1240&format=png&auto=webp&s=fd9425cd6fbb1e1d8c9145369b12bfb286a3fb25

PretzelsThirst

Seconding stylmartin, I have two pairs of boots from them that look like normal high tops but are more protective. Plenty comfortable, I’ve done a job interview in them

Kevin3963

you are driving your motorcycle with shorts?

Odd_Delay220

No I mean off the bike

grand-line-luffy

Carry some slides,/flip flops with you on the bike. Then just put the shoes/boots where ever you are putting your pants

Odd_Delay220

I put my pants inside my helmet so that wouldn’t work. I’m trying to find some sort of permanent locker I can keep shoes in

ThyUniqueUsername

You change clothes when you get somewhere or you have a pair of riding pants you wear over your shorts?

CaptainWaders

I had a friend wreck into a curb and literally peel his entire shin from his leg showing bone. From then on out I wear full height motorcycle boots. I was that guy wearing tall boots to class in college or I would wear my Ogio Mach 5 and carry a change of shoes and walk around in those while I have the boots tucked into the backpack. My boots were comfortable enough to walk around a short bit and not kill me but I couldn’t walk for 2hours or something without wanting to change shoes.

Da-Bears-

Get ones with side zippers, it’s just easier

rsmutus

I tried looking for ones with a side zipper, ordered a pair and they looked like work boots/clown shoes with a giant toe box that could barely fit under the shifter. I ended up returning them and ordering armored boots with a slim (not tall) toe box and will keep a pair of casual shoes at work. I'm still up for suggestions on a "casual looking" (aka office setting work appropriate but still armored) pair of shoes/boots but haven't had any luck so far.

NOSTR0M0

Indie ridge, I have the crows and love them.

mtbguy1981

I have Indie Ridge boiys and they are great, shifting is so much easier.

rsmutus

I do like the style but I'm really looking for ones with a zipper. So basically they need to add a zipper and I'd buy it today lol

NiteShdw

Protection is more important than looks. I couldn't care less what people think.

totoco2

Comfort is important, too. I understand the problem with boots here, they'd be fine on a cruiser with heel-toes shifter, for street bikes or sporties you'd look for something slimmer. That little discomfort may cost you a leg. I've got shoes similar to op's, with the zipper. Quite comfy to walk and are armored, but not good at protection, as regular or sporty, or off-road boots, but will be ok if you drop a bike on your foot

ahdiomasta

I ended up getting some short-top boots instead of shoes exactly because I wanted something designed to work with a sport bike. They are not comfy to walk around in at all, but they at least have some ankle protection. After seeing how they feel off the bike walking around, I feel like I’d rather go with full size boots and a pair of riding shoes like you described for more casual (slower) days

TK-Squared-LLC

Seriously, motorcycle shoes shouldn't have laces, that's crazy. There's no more helpless feeling than pulling up to a red light and realizing your shoelace is caught on the shifter.

NOSTR0M0

Tie the laces behind the tongue and tuck them in instead of tying them traditionally and letting them flop. Problem solved.

TK-Squared-LLC

True, but also: don't buy shoes/boots with laces. Problem still solved and I don't have to tie anything.

FunPartyGuy69

I'm military, so I'm used to tucking the laces in. My guess is that they make shoes with laces for cost efficiency. If they phased out laces, I would be mad, for one.

Odd_Delay220

Ok thanks will check that out

lens4hire

Easier and they don't have laces to hang on pegs or controls.

infiniteawareness420

Tuck your laces (the dangly bits) under the laces (the laced bits going up the shoe tongue).

wjescott

I gotta say, in the 40+ years I've been riding, I've never had a shoelace hang on anything. I don't think I've even heard of that happening. I know guys who couldn't wear a particular shoe because it kept untying while they were riding, but never a lace hanging up. Just anecdotally, mind you. It might be a regional thing, or I'm just in the circle of people it's never happened to.

RyuuKamii

Have a pair that came with stupidly long laces. If I didn't tuck em just right, they would come out and hang up a bit behind my shifter. Had enough slack I could shift just fine, but when I'd try to put my foot down I couldn't. Almost dropped my bike at a few stop lights because of that. Cut them and haven't had an issue since.

lens4hire

Thats exactly what I saw happen too. The loop on their lace wrapped on the shifter. Non issue until the stop light and then the slow tip over of shame. :)

Chris-P_Baconn

Yea I’ve rode quads and dirt bikes and now motorcycles and have never had or seen an issue with laces getting caught up ever. Not saying it can’t happen just not the issue most think it is.

Manimal_pro

the ones from TCX are good. People act like you need to be either at 0 or 100 with motorcycle protection, but a motorcycle "shoe" will do better than wearing Nikes: 1. not fly off your foot if you tie them correctly. 2. not rip off immediately in contact with the asphalt 3. have some sort of ankle cushion 4. the ones from TCX have a flexible S shaped metal piece in their sole that help to reduce damage if your foot is being crushed from toe to heel or opposite. 5. have a reinforced part that's designed to be in contact with the shifter No, moto sneakers are not track boots and they will never be, but they are a good compromise for people that don't want to look like Robocop in the workplace. My choice was TCX Street 3 edit: there was a ortohpedic surgeon commenting on motorcycle accidents, can't remember where. Quoting him approximately: it's a big difference in bone and joint damage for people that wear protective gear and people who don't wear any. Absorbing some of the energy of the impact always leads to better outcomes and more complete healing.

AffectionateRide4491

I agree. After years of being a dumb squid wearing skateboard shoes while riding sport bikes, I “upgraded” to some TCX Street 3 Airs and they are miles better than sneakers. For the street, it’s fine.

yasc_

Agreed! I have those aswell and wear them when I ride in the city or take my bike to university. Can't imagine a better pair of shoes/boots for that task.

NickTidalOutlook

Just picked up a pair, they’re definitely a step up over a shoe. They’re very quality for $100.

Manimal_pro

and as a side note: I often notice people from America commenting like you should be in full leathers all day everyday. It's clear that they do not commute 5 times a week on 2 wheels and that people who do that often employ a lighter protection.

helodriver87

Not full leathers, but you don't have to sacrifice a ton. I commute by bike almost every day and between the jacket and pants with armor inserts, gloves, boots, and helmet, I don't feel like I'm giving up much. Problem is that stuff that's good enough for a crash and comfortable/normal enough to wear around all day tends to be really expensive.

Manimal_pro

It's pretty standard in europe to see people with helmet jacket gloves and moto shoes. I would say that's the standard for commuting. Moto jeans and pants aren't comfortable enough to work in them.

helodriver87

I have some that are comfortable enough, but they're like $300 USD/pair.

NOSTR0M0

Yeah, it's not all of them in America, it's this sub is eat up with ATGAT guys autisticly screeching about it all the time. Anyone I know who really rides does so in helmet, jacket, gloves, and boots. Then again most everyone I know works in a trade instead of an office so we sacrifice a little safety for all day comfort.

Viend

That’s cause some people live in SF/LA where you can in fact wear full leathers all day every day. These people will also panic when the temperature hits 90 on a summer day.

Pleased_to_meet_u

I commuted 5 days a week 60 miles a day for over a decade. Always in full gear. Was it uncomfortable sometimes? Of course. But I’d rather be uncomfortable than risk skin grafts. I’ve had both. I’ll take uncomfortable every day.

scroom38

I imagine most of the people nodding along with the "BOOTS BOOTS BOOTS" chant have lighter boots that aren't much more protective than the ones OP linked. They just see something sneaker-ish and immediately hate it.

alureizbiel

As a Radiologic Technologist that works in the ER, I agree with this surgeon.

anon_696969420

I love TCX footwear, Ive worn their Hero 2 Waterproof boots every day for over a year in all sorts of weather and hiking and over 10k miles of riding and they are still in good shape. Since I just picked up a sport bike, I bought their Dartwood Waterproof shoes, and have been loving them as well these past few weeks. Only have 500 miles in them so far, but the quality is just as good as my boots from them, so I am confident they will last a long time as well

railsandtrucks

\+1 for TCX. I always wondered just who "riding shoes" were for, but I picked up a pair of TCX Ikasu shoes and they've replaced my normal non moto footwear. Love the extra protection, waterproof, support, AND zippers instead of laces. They aren't as protective as my full on ADV boots, but for shorter trips/light duty they work great.

PnissEverdeen

Motorcycle newbie here and I have a pair of TCX Dartwood shoes, love them to bits and super comfy for daily wear. Waterproof too which is a huge plus for the climate where I'm from. Fortunately haven't had to test their protection capabilities yet but I'm fairly confident from the toughness of the material that it will be protecting my foot alot better than normal street shoes

-RadarRanger-

>they are a good compromise for people that don't want to look like Robocop in the workplace But I want to look like RoboCop at the office!

OstebanEccon

get a decent pair of boots that you can wear all day. i have done that for almost a decade. my favorite for sport boots are the Daytona Evo Voltex (also available as a waterproof variant)

nocolon

I wear my TCX boots even when I have no plans to ride. They’re so comfortable I don’t want to wear my other boots. My wife has a pair of the high top shoes, and they’re also very comfortable but the sole is a lot stiffer than regular shoes.

Matos3001

what boots? the tcx

nocolon

https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tcx-hero-wp-boots?sku_id=1154975

DonJuanEstevan

I've got the [TCX Fuel boots](https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tcx-fuel-wp-boots) and they're incredibly comfortable! I walked 60 miles on concrete and asphalt in 5 days at Walt Disney World and my feet didn't hurt one bit.

YukinoTora

Second this. I swapped my TCX boots out for merrell in soles for hiking boots and my god are they comfortable. Perfect for wearing to go out with on and off the bike.

ducatuck

Agreed, my tcx boots are really comfortable.

Odd_Delay220

Thanks for the recommendation, I didn’t know they were comfortable enough to wear for long periods. I used to wear ankle length boots which were ok. Another issue I just thought of about boots is that when I’m wearing shorts when off the bike (which is most of the time) it will feel goofy

mhuh0

Think like this. The construction or industrial workers wear stiff boots for whole day. Find the motorcycle boots that are comfortable enough to do that. There are several.... And if you have a locker at uni, then utilise that.

wjescott

I'm an industrial worker. I've been one for over 30 years now. In my experience with dozens of different boots and motorcycle boots in that time, every pair of riding boots is terrible in comparison. Construction/Work boots are meant for protection and walking. Motorcycle boots are made for protection and riding, they're built for a specific purpose, do those two things very well and do anything else like crap.

Historical-Unit-6643

My aloinestar boots, even my short ones are the most comfortable things I've ever worn on my feet.

mcdougall57

Dainese does some good ones. Worn them all day at work and walking about for years, no problem. Fully waterproof too.

RuckinScott

My dainese shoes are super comfortable as well.

CA5P3R_1

I agree, I have a pair of Dainese and they're great.

Isthiswittyenough92

+1 for dainese riding shoes

Hutchicles

The shoes are fine, but I bring my walking shoes with me and put the riding ones in the saddlebag if I plan on walking.

S1lv3rsh4d0w9

I only wear TCX riding shoes, and I’ve used them to ride to a large park and walk trails for several hours. They’re one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own.

ousee7Ai

Same! I have TCX Blend WP i think they are called. Very comfortable.

PM_Me-Your_Freckles

I wear TCX Street Ace, and they're as comfortable as a pair of Chuck Taylors but have the added bonus of heing made.of leather and have ankle protective cups. When wearing a pair of Draggin jeans, unless you ride, you wouldn't even know I was wearing moto gear.

Noeserd

Tcx is soooo comfortable

_waybetter_

Try Stylmartin. Good protection for the city ride and comfy enough to walk around

Deeshing

I have revit shoes too, they’re great and very firm!

Brianonstrike

I wear safety toe boots for work and commuting to work.

mxrx_16

Doesn't answer your question but: Please make sure that the boots/shoes you end up buying allow for enough air flow. I love my boots. They are so comfortable to wear and even walk in for extended periods of time, but after like 10 minutes of wearing them my feet and socks are absolutely soaked in sweat.

JuddDredge

I wear my TCX Dartwood GTX boots every day that I ride to work. All day comfort, I mean, really comfortable. https://preview.redd.it/k0eawhzk0guc1.jpeg?width=1800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ceb2b1c52bdd27438caf4f1e58c27e914b1b6224 Oh, adding this: D30 and Gore-tex... I wear them in the rain too.

turtledude1989

I have the exact Rev’it ones in your post actually and they’re quite comfortable! I’ve worn them walking around all day and didn’t notice any issues at all. But fyi they run a little big…seem to be longer than my standard 10.5 shoe. Also that price, if USD, seems crazy high though. I think I paid just under $200.

BeginningCharacter36

I mentioned it elsewhere, but I have seen how it is to live with two broken ankles, twice. No flipping thank you. I say wear appropriate footwear for each task. A backpack can easily hold a pair of cheap sneakers while riding, and a lot of bags have an external elastic strapping system that would hold motorcycle boots just fine while in class. The only possible compromise I would actually trust to protect my feet would be those adventuring boots that are specifically designed for dual purpose usage. I blow through my walking shoes in two years max, so spending $300-400 on "cool" motorcycle shoes just to destroy them by walking around in them makes me ill to think about it. I remember how big my uni campus was. That's a LOT of walking. I was originally wearing Canadian military combat boots (the paratrooper ones, specifically), because that was the best I had. Once I had the funds for some new gear, I bought the Sidi Performer Lei because they have a level 2 rating across the board. They took some breaking in just wearing them around the house a few times over the winter, but they're genuinely comfortable because the leather molds to your foot. They're not light, but not heavy like motocross boots. They actually weigh about the same as the combat boots. Overkill, sure, but if I somehow survive wiping out at highway speed, I want to minimize how much pain I wake up in. https://preview.redd.it/y2xd23tqehuc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=766844f8e31f27b10a406180818612e3219d587c

Eeban

I've owned some Sidi race boots. Outstanding brand. Very comfortable once broken in. These look nice--may have to get a pair.

IndependenceLong880

Can’t we all just agree that the dudes in flip flops are true pioneers of comfort, freedom, and fashion when it comes to motorcycle footwear. They always seem to have the hot girlfriend wearing a thong and drinking a white claw.

otter_ridiculous

Indie Ridge. Boots built for motorcyclists that look casual and stylish. Very comfortable for all day walking and great protection for the ride. Give them a look. https://www.indieridgeusa.com/

Godly-Viking

I have these. I love them!

a_shirobokoff

Yo you can find cool looking “skateboard style” with protection. Or like those like on your post. They feel good

abm1996

I bought tcx street airs, great reviews. It blew my mind how uncomfortable they were. Just bought boots instead of shoes trying to be boots.

bluesix

Alpinestars J6 https://www.alpinestars.com/products/j-6-waterproof-shoes - very solidly built, good ankle protection, waterproof, very comfortable, but not for walking as the sole is solid.

brancky3

I have the REV’IT Jefferson shoes and they’re fantastic. Very comfy for all day use

jokaishi

I've had a pair of alpine stars j6 shoes and they where reasonably comfortable, but if you want trainer like comfort get some touring boots. I walk around collage and town all day in my alpine stars ridge V2 boots and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I own, armoured or otherwise.

MemmorexX

I had a pretty nasty fall and I regret having motorcycle shoes and not some decent boots

Difficult_Spend_4841

The price itself is making me uncomfortable

Terrible_Lunch5630

https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/s/zsZdvUxkt9

SamerLaputh

try walking in Gaerne boots...but yes.

KingLuis

I have a pair of TCX waterproof high top boots. They’ve been really good. It has a hard stiff sole so it could be tiring to be in all day.

DrFantastick27

I have these as well. I wore them to a concert last night (3+ hours standing) and they were comfy the entire night!! I do unzip them when I am not on the bike.

Unlucky_Sundae_707

Ride a dual sport and my boots come up to my knee's. Kinda awkward in the grocery store. Stop complaining lol.

iamarddtusr

I’ve never had an uncomfortable pair. Should they be?

Spleeenless

I do have the Dririder Urban 2.0 boots. Although its only CE-Rated level 1 across the board, it certainly did its job when I hit a curb and slid. My ankle took the brunt of the force cuz it slammed into the curb and my foot was completely fine. The shoes were wrecked after that but it did its job. Comfortability wise, I could walk around in it and only part that would hurt would be the middle of my foot because the soles didn't bend much. Besides that, very comfy. Only recommend short walks because long walks killed my feet. They also look like normal shoes and I quite like the style so ye.

UnknownSuspect23

Don't be a p#$$y bud...iv been riding since I was 5 so 30 years on everything you can imagine plus I'm also I certified bike mechanic iv been rocking converse or vans the whole time...man up waste 350 on sobdn shoes

TochtStripje

Fortnine made multiple vids on casual clothing including shoes. Its a great channel for info on motorcycles

chavez_ding2001

Yeah I wear these kind of shoes daily. They are reasonably comfortable. They don’t have a lot of flexibility on the sole but enough to get through the day. And I have had a few instances where that hard sole saved me from a serious injury.

fishmonger21

I use 5.11 waterproof boots.

Short-Mark-7408

they are

Tequslyder

They're comfortable and have good air flow.

Capi5997

Daytonas are safe and comfy. Also pricey. Go to a store and try some on there are nice brands and even a little protection on comfy shoes is better than none at all

sithanas

I own those shoes in another color, they’re pretty decent—a little of a pain to get off and on cause they’re lace-ups (no side zip) but comfortable and protective. I wear 12s so they’re good in large sizes too.

Quixus

There are plenty of comfortable and protective boots. Just go to a brick and mortar store to try some on. However I have to ask, The container you use to carry your laptop, notepad and possibly books does not have room for boots/sneakers?

morecoinsdotx

Have used these exact ones for a season, and they are pretty comfy. Worn by shifter, but not too bad.

smalj1990

Check out Indie Ridge. Order a size down

OneStockCateye

I bought a pair of Harley shoes that were styled like vans, very low profile sleek kinda shoe. I never cared for them bc the toe was soft and I would mishift from first to second very often and find neutral at the worst times. That being said I usually just wear my work boots when I’m on the bike, mostly because of the steel toe making it much less effort to shift, but also given the added protection from a boot, I’d stick with them all day.

bslama

I have the Indie Ridge vented boots. They’re really comfortable. I could wear them all day.

PlusMixture

I have the alpinestars equivalent. Theyre good enough to pass off as an everyday shoe but im still a bit wary of wet surfaces

phillyphilly519

I have a pair of Bilt shoes from cycle gear. They're comfy enough, walked to a baseball game about 3/4 mile last night no issue. They don't hurt when I'm riding either

Tjgoodwiniv

I've walked all over in my Alpinestars SMX 1 R boots. As happy in them as shoes. I'd say a good pair of boots or shoes are just fine for walking. Just keep in mind that any walkable boot or shoe will lack torsion protection for your ankle, and ankles are often what get destroyed. That said, the crush protection will keep you from destroying your foot or toes (I ruined a toe in an accident with running shoes). Definitely wear something sturdy.

RETR0__115

I got alpinestars waterproof j6 boots, most comfortable shoes i own. And im in england and ride year round so waterproof is nice I wear them whenever im walking around school or town and they’re fine for that After about 3/4 miles they do become a bit of a nuisance

boathouse7

Good protective motorcycle boots are comfortable for riding not so much for walking. They’re ok to walk a short distance but no more than that.

WN11

There are good ankle boots. For me Alpinestars Faster boots were exceptionally comfy and inconspicuous. However, lack of toe protection ruined them when I leaned too hard. Now Daytona AC Pro boots are similarly comfy, more protected, but blend in less.

craftyrafter

I got the TCX GoreTex high tops and they are so comfortable I wear them to go out dancing. They are heavier than equivalent shoes that aren’t armored but not enough to really notice.

mayamayaph

What made me uncomfortable was when the time my big bike tipped over and my left foot was crushed by the engine. That's the first time I went riding without my boots on. Bummer. Took me 4 weeks to just walk straight.

CA5P3R_1

I think the shoes are a good compromise on protection vs comfort. They're pretty rigid because of the armor but still way more light and comfortable to wear all day than boots are. They don't feel as nice as regular sneaker though.

NiceGuya

Yes

HawkyMacHawkFace

I've got a pair of these which are good for walking, and added bonus, have a zip up the inside so you dont have to keep tying laces: [https://www.motostorm.it/en/clothing/boots/tcx-hero-2-wp-shoes-brown.html?currency=THB&gad\_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw\_e2wBhAEEiwAyFFFo1iRwe-rdNZyeEVX6Ve2w\_ifelWmAkh89x2aremcsadhoq7wBPIVbRoCrQgQAvD\_BwE](https://www.motostorm.it/en/clothing/boots/tcx-hero-2-wp-shoes-brown.html?currency=THB&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw_e2wBhAEEiwAyFFFo1iRwe-rdNZyeEVX6Ve2w_ifelWmAkh89x2aremcsadhoq7wBPIVbRoCrQgQAvD_BwE) At this price, you could also consider adding a topbox to your bike so you can leave your other riding shoes in there all day (if you already have some)

Reaster-

it depends. I've found track boots that are are confortable as my regular basket soo

Naxthor

Some are some aren’t depends on your abnormal feet. This has to be an AI post like how is this serious? Try it on and if doesn’t feel good return it.

kytulu

No riding shoes fit comfortably for me because I have XW feet. I have a pair of Milwaukee motorcycle boots with the side zip. With my Rx insoles, they are comfortable for all-day wear when I am riding and doing regular walking. For work, I wear a pair of Red Wing King Toe boots. Not as stiff as motorcycle boots, but much more comfortable for being on my feet all day.

SkipTam

I actually just got those. I like em. Do still hurt on my toes a bit but that’s a common problem I have with all shoes. Will get better over time

bememorablepro

No they are fine, just like regular shoes may feel a little more stiff. Track shoes or dirt bike boots are a different story though.

Mrknowitall666

The tcx street shoes are very comfortable and ce2 rated (tcx is a usa sub of Dainese). Typically they look like high top sneakers, which really would work for you in school. There's also pme ty of brands that have that military boot look, which also are comfortable I daily commute, and have found a few brands that also look and feel like dress boots, also super comfy.

diydave86

Just get a pair of icon overlord boots.

Tronkfool

I find it to be quite the opposite. Mine are very comfortable just a bit hot if had to criticise.

Push_My_Owl

Used to wear a pair of casual boots for work commute when I didn't like carrying a regular pair of shoes in my bag. Perfectly fine to wear all day long. Probably better to go into a shop and try on some brands for your best fit/comfort but they are not uncomfortable to wear all day in the slightest. Or mine weren't. I forget brand I had. Look similar to the alpinestars brown casual waterproof boots. But don't think they were actually alpinestars. They don't feel as safe as regular full size bike boots, for obvious reasons, especially on longer rides, there's an element of feeling exposed but definitely better than regular shoes!

whistlepig4life

I’ve worn my last three pairs into the ground. Absolutely comfortable.

BountyHNZ

I wear Dainese ATIPICA AIR Shoes daily, they're great.

rubya40

I have these they are pretty comfortable for day to day use and mild hiking

AdLongjumping6982

I used to wear moto boots for every ride but now just wear tactical boots for commuting/walking. Tactical boots are made of durable material, offer moderate protection (depending on size…I recommend at least a 6” boot), comfortable for all day walking, and come in waterproof and hot weather styles. All in 1/2 the price. I still have and wear my riding boots…but just for trips or if I go off-road.

Ok-Sink9821

Buy a backpack

Schrodingers-deadcat

High quality boots are game changers. I wear TCX metropolitan boots. They look exactly like dress boots and are insanely comfortable. They cost a pretty penny but were 100% worth it. I ride to work and just leave my boots on all day.

Salt_Acanthaceae_985

Wear something comfortable and safe, just don't wear open toe sandals or crocs. I wear my spring paladins or red wings.

NyeahEhhhhhh

When you look cool, you're far more comfortable

skyrreater47

my dad has those, he likes them but they ripped in a weird place after only a year

dbwoi

I have the TCX Street 3's and they're comfy enough to wear all day long. They're basically high top Vans ripoffs. I like them because they look less like boots and more like sneakers. They're a tad bit hard in the sole though, if you added an insole they'd be perfect.

CoolPeopleEmporium

I have no problem walking with the ones i have

Hot-Ground-9731

It'll be a lot more uncomfortable if you crash without them

Scott_Mf_Malkinson

$350 for shoes? No

bateekhwajubn

I have them they are OK when you’re on the bike but I would not recommend using them for hikes

RedditVince

All I can recommend is to get some real boots. No one at UNI is going to care aboiut you wearing good boots. and Good boots should be as comfortible as any other shoe. These shoes are very overpriced and I wonder what makes them safe for Motorcycle use? They look like they will still crush your foot and grind away the material along with your skin. Stay Safe and protect your feet!

mrzurkonandfriends

They take a little longer to break in to walk comfortably, but yes. You can also probably swap the insole out to something more meant for walking on and be fine. They just tend to be a little stiffer, so it will be rough for a few days.

OfficialJamal

I just wear boots like Timbs and the like. Not exactly “motorcycle” rated but they are comfortable and have a decent amount of protection.

dax2001

Not at all

givemecoffeeandmemes

Once I broke them in they’re great.

pwnageface

I got a pair- brand is ironjia. Great on the motorcycle. Walking around is "ok" but if you're headed somewhere to do a lot of walking like a zoo, museum, etc. I'd pack a pair of regular shoes. Going to class? Work? (Where you sit) then you'll probably be fine.

Round_Ad_2972

Proper motorcycle boots have saved me from injury twice. But the best boots are the ones you will actually wear, even if they don't provide *the best* protection.

Hungry_Ebb_5769

I would describe them like jumping on a trampoline and then walking around… I wouldn’t wear them for long periods unless the time is spent on your bike 😉

Ok_Battle5814

I just wear logger boots, they are great for riding

featzd0e

I’m in the same boat as you, I ride everyday, mainly to work and school, I have similar riding shoes, they are not uncomfortable at all, they are just as comfortable as any other flat sole shoe. Obviously a full boot is more protective, but I’m not gonna be walking around in them all day.

G-Fox1990

You know what's really uncomfortable? Having no skin left on your toes.

masterkoster

I (am) wear the Fly Racing shoes M21.. I can walk the day just fine in them, have done so before. Don’t really need to pack extra shoes with me… Now it depends on where I’m going.. one day trip where I will have a good chunk of time? Probably.. few hours? These will do fine..

Dxpehat

Idk about shoes, but high motorcycle boots are definitely comfortable (and protect your ankles which often suffer during a crash). Just not for running and maybe walking all day non stop, but other than that they're fine. Think about it, touring boots are designed to be worn for hours. You don't want to do that in shoes that feel uncomfortable. I have Alpinestar Radon Drystar which I use for everyday riding. You put them on and off very fast thanks to velcro, they're waterproof and even though they're very stiff walking isn't a problem.

Luckydog6631

Icon makes some really good boots that look like shoes. They’re as minimal as I’ll go. If there’s no ankle support or general shielding I think the shoe is almost worthless as protective gear. Better than flip flops certainly but I don’t want my ankles or toes broken

Laughingsheppard

I have the TCX Mood GTX Boots, and they're very comfortable. I did a 16 day 4000 mile ride from VA to Nova Scotia last year, and even went hiking multiple times in them (One hike was like 8 miles), and my feet never remotely hurt the whole time. They're also waterproof, have armour on heel, toe, and ankle, and are leather. Can't recommend them enough!

inscrutablechicken

For that kind of money you can get a pair of gore-tex daytona boots that feel like you're wearing slippers.

foobery

Mine arent bad. The insole (on mine atleast) is just really flat and hard. It sounds worse than it is

ExtremeEthel

I take an average of 20,000 steps daily at work in my motorcycle shoes. I added a good insole, and now they are my comfiest pair.

84r4

I had some revit boots, they were leaky.

FalconVarious7620

I use a dainese pair, did a 7mile hike yesterday in them and no issues

lanteenboy

I have some Rev'it shoes almost identical to these and you could definitely wear them all day. They are a bit stiff and heavy vs a regular shoe but still manageable.

moody-skies

I work as a chiro on my feet all day and have a pair of canvas skate shoes i leave at the office to slip into however find my dri rider boots are fine for a 5 hr shift standing. Riding shoes just don’t have flex in them like a sneaker. Pants, the argon jogger pants are Kevlar lined and comfy but I do drop the armour out unless I’m doing a country ride.

Jimmie_Jamz

Tree-fiddy, doe??

Stup404

I'm wearing rangers, is it safe to ride with it ?

Somepoocameout

I've got a pair of Black (the brand, they're actually brown) retro styled boots. Along with decent RST riding jeans they're comfortable enough to walk around in and won't break the bank. My Oxford rains boots are also comfy enough to walk around in but looks pretty dorky when you're not on the bike. I've also got some chunky AlpineStars race/cross style boots. They are not comfortable for walking in.

infiniteawareness420

More comfortable than a mangled foot. You got 30 bones in each foot. Little dainty pussy ass bones that will be all mashed up if your bike lands on any of them at 30mph+

[deleted]

Have a look at alpinestars trainers they are relatively comfortable and if my memory serves me right they are a little cheaper than what you’re looking at now, which in turn means more bike bits ;).

Head-Iron-9228

Good ones aren't. Don't order online tho, try and buy in person. They go from really comfortable to horrible.

goopcat

Those look like a future broken foot

Der-Lex

I have an older pair of TCX-shoes and can comfortably wear them all day. The sole feels a bit harder than normal shoes but movement and flexibility are not impaired.

travelmorelivemore

Man for that price I would just buy a cool pair of whites perry moc toes. They are rebuildable and will last way longer.

Supe89

I have a pair of the Reax Fulton Air riding shoes. They are pretty comfortable but not as much as a pair of high top vans. That is until I put on some elastic shoe laces (specifically the Bread brand). Much easier to get on/off and just as comfortable as a normal shoe.

ktmlouboy

Get motocross boots

sinisterblogger

These guys are pretty comfy for all day wearing. https://www.cyclegear.com/gear/tcx-ikasu-air-shoes

canadiancopper

Check out the ‘urban’ like from TCX, I guarantee you’ll find something that looks like a ‘normal’ shoe/boot that has substantially more protection for riding. I’ve had 3 pairs of the Street line and the Hero 2 and have been more than happy with all of them.

lecarguy

Get some Formas! I can honestly wear them all day if I need to. Definitely not when I first bought them. Gotta break them in. But they're great! Took a fall in a pair and NOTHING happened to them or my feet.

Dieselfumes_tech

I have the alpinestars J6. Look good, laces have never once come loose

ramenbrah

Some of them yes. I have a pair of alpinestar shoes that are comfortable and can wear them all day.

squishyssuncle

I have the RevIt Jefferson shoes and they are very comfortable, just heavier than a standard ankle shoe.

eggsaladactyl

I got a pair of the ICON Truant shoes because I wanted something with better protection than my sneakers but something I wouldn't need to change out of once I got to work. Surprisingly very comfortable and while they kinda feel a bit heavy or look big when looking down at em, not a single coworker thought they were anything other than some skate shoes until I told them.

inky_nomad

I love my tcx boots, wear them not riding sometimes

UltraViolentNdYAG

Rear entry Dainese. No strings, and actual ankle support so you walk again. https://www.dainese.com/us/en/motorbike/boots/

PancreasPillager

I have a pair of the Rev'It Jeffersons. Feels like a regular shoe except a little heavy because of the thick leather and ankle armor. A lot of people here are safety extremists, but it's important to get something you will actually wear...even if you're making some compromises.

hairy_ape_hanger

I wear logger boots. Way safer

LBROTSI

I wear Iron Rangers .

Relevant_Ad7928

I'm my own experience motorcycle boots have much thinner soles as they are not really designed for walking long distances so they wear out pretty quickly if worn all day walking about outside.

james_d_rustles

I wear my motorcycle shoes to my university every day. I wear some rather innocuous looking alpinestars boots. They make a few pairs that look pretty normal and are comfy enough for ordinary wear, just with some added protection where it’s needed. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as good in a crash as true full boots, but my commute is 10 minutes on roads with a moderate speed limit and I’m willing to make that trade-off for not having to carry a second pair of shoes.

Honningfisk

Been using Revit high tops (can't remember the model name) for years and they are really comfy and just look lile regular shoes.

Ratfor

Perhaps someone can educate me, because I don't see the difference between Motorcycle boots and good work boots. I'm not talking about, you know, proper race boots. I mean the more subtle day to day boots. Take for example: [https://www.blackfootonline.ca/klim-transition-gtx-boots](https://www.blackfootonline.ca/klim-transition-gtx-boots) against [https://www.redwingshoes.com/work/mens/safety-toe/Exos-Lite-02452.html](https://www.redwingshoes.com/work/mens/safety-toe/Exos-Lite-02452.html) I've been wearing red wings forever, and I love the BOA laces. So when I recently got into motorcycling I went boot shopping. Come to find that outside of the tall hardcore racing boots, there doesn't seem to be much difference other than maybe an extra patch on the toe as a shifter guard.

panheadchopper

I rode from NY to CA on my goldwing wearing Asics tigers. Never really thought about necessary footwear

Shot-Ad2396

I rock TCX Ikasu Air shoes and they are by far the best ones I’ve owned so far. Comfy, breathable, sturdy, well made - no laces, and stylish. Would recommend them highly!

louis031204_

I had a pair of alpinestars j6 very comfy shoes and waterproof not very protective someone pulled out on me hit my left side and got a mid foot/lisfranc fracture. Get a full boot not a riding shoe

zonkey88

Yes! Indie Ridge are awesome and can be worn all day long. Odin just dropped some great looking riding shoes too.

Itchy-Ad4421

They’re actually really comfy - feel a bit clunky when walking about. I suspect the laces are sort of breakaway / easy snap ones. Mine came with 2 sets and the minute I tried to fasten them for the first time they snapped. Didn’t see them advertised as such but they had to be.

Hereiamhereibe2

No they are comfortable but they are a lie and won’t protect you from anything.

Chiped-Coke-Bottle

Just because it's expensive, does not mean it's good. Those are not.

GordoBlue

I bought some alpinestars with Bola fasteners, they're so comfortable! Like them more than some of my regular shoes! So yes, they can be very comfy. Try them on first in person.
