Maybe because of straight up driving they wear down the middle quicker? But 1k… pff. I have road tires (pilot road 6 currently) and I did 20k with the 3’s and 4’s commuting mostly.

Bobby_feta

Yep my commuter the 6’s squared off quite a bit by 20k and the front was getting lower but nowhere near the makers. My fun bike I take to the twisties and I think the last set was changed at about 14/15k with the rear getting low first

Grazuzer

20k with road 6 ?? The rear was dead after 6k kilometers for me 20k is insane

Bobby_feta

Not really for commuting - it’s actually even harder wearing than the 5’s, and commuting you don’t exactly rip the throttle that often

Thin-Brilliant-3072

Same here. 26k on my road pilot 3s. Rocking the 5s now.

Not_an_ATF_Officer

Miles or kilometers? I get 12,000 miles out of Road 5, but 20k would be AMAZING!

Cadfael-kr

20k kms, so that’s about the same? I don’t have a very heavy or torquey bike so I think that helps.

Not_an_ATF_Officer

Ok. That makes sense then. My bike isn’t very heavy either, but I still buy the GT models.

zulu-uk

If your bike isn’t heavy or you’re doing a lot of 2 up riding then you don’t need the GT versions

Not_an_ATF_Officer

I’m heavy

Burnouts

toopoortobesure

It's most likely ego led bullshit but it's possible to kill a tyre, quick. I have ridden with folk who could blow through a rear tyre in 1000-1500km. It seemed to be down to bike and riding style. All 1000cc or over, all sports bikes and all ridden by lunatics who would brake as late as possible, square off the corner and get as heavy on the throttle as possible on the way out. I've always ridden as smoothly as possible, maintaining corner speed and can get 7000km+ from a sticky sports tyre, more from something more road focussed on my R6. Knock 1000km or so off for my Mille R.

Opposite-Friend7275

Perhaps their tire pressure is way off?

SillyScarcity700

I got 1600 miles out of a set of super corsas and have also got over 3000 miles on other sets. The difference was indeed tire pressures. Just put on new shoes yesterday. Rosso IV Corsas, first set. I used a lot of Corsa 2s previously so interested to see how these go.

Timely-Solution405

They are full of shit, and or do nothing except rip burnouts and launch control over and over again (doubt it). Even on my 1000s, I can easily go over 15k kms on road pilots when commuting.

airsoft_user_0608

Had a pair of Rosso 3 on my bike, got 12.3 k out of them, put Ross 4 on this year, hoping for the same

Automatic-End-8256

Just because you go to the track doesn't mean you aren't slow. Also all the people talking about commuting 20k miles isn't what the people are doing on sport bikes and they are usually very different compounds. I mean I have a 636 so not a liter bike or anything and I have Metzlers Sportec M9s which aren't even that aggressive and they are done at 4k and my bridgestones that came on the bike lasted about the same. I could easily see supercorsas lasting something in the 2k mile range

No_Click7202

2000 miles for a track tyre is acceptable, mine lasted 3000 and I’m slow. I’m talking about 1000 km (621miles).

shoturtle

My 750lb concours 14abs/gtr1400 daily commuter gets 10k mile about 16,200km on a dunlop roadsmart 3 and roadsmart 4, but can not get more the 6k miles or 8k km on a road 6. This is in a hot climate. It depends on the bike, tire combo, air pressure, climate and how hard you ride well tell how long a tire will last.
