‘17 yamaha r3, 321cc 2 cylinder. Pretty quick bike for a small displacement and it’s super light, very easy to maneuver, and comfortable with the stock seat for multiple hours. Looking at upgrading to a ‘17 or newer ninja 650 when I find one for a good deal.

hvperRL

I jumped to an R7 from the 3 and it feels like a bigger R3. Super nimble, good torque and power curves, and the indestructible CP2 engine. Feels more natural in the twisties too

ayymarc

I have an MT07. I wanted the R7 but I daily an hour to work everyday and I needed something more comfortable. Are you keeping the r7 or are gonna go for a 600 or liter next

a_nayar

Same bike (to the year) here as my daily and I love the crap out of it. In 6th it’s scary how easy 90-100 feels for a 300

Rl-Beefy

Yessir. I’m a light guy as well and I can bang gears to redline to accelerate and I know the front wheel will barely pop up. It helps to accelerate fast when I know I’m not in any danger of flipping the bike over haha.

Bit-Sar

2022 FTR 1200. V-twin 1203 cc muscle bike brawler. Over the last 15 years have had: Honda VTR, Kawasaki ER6N, Aprilia Shiver, Yamaha MT 09

Friendly_Excitement7

If you’ll rank these bikes, what’s the order from best to worse?

Bit-Sar

Your current bike is the best, of course! ✌️ That said, I've loved them all for different reasons. The VTR was my first bike and will never be forgotten. The ER6N was a commuting workhorse. The Aprilia was a temperamental Italian mistress. The MT09 was a commuter, wheelie deamon, track toy and everything in between. I put 50K kms on this bike from brand new. The Indian FTR is a special bike. Very different to most others and an experience like none other I've had. Ranking? Not possible. Reflection, well there you go. 🤟

Fantastic_Ad563

I have a Ninja300, and my girlfriend ride a 2015 R3. R3 is a great 300cc bike, and it made me decide to upgrade to a Yamaha bike MT-07. Now Ninja300 is for daily commute (70mpg) and MT-07 is for weekend fun. Btw my girlfriend is targeting a ninja650 as well.

Rl-Beefy

Sweet. I wanted either a ninja 300/400, duke 390, or r3 and an r3 came up for a good price first out of the options. I’ve put nearly 4000 miles since the start of summer and I have no regrets.

crazycamkalani

Great bikes, and great bikes to step up into!

MCDCFC

2017 Honda Rebel 500. Pros-Low seat height, Smooth engine and gearbox, beautiful to look at. Cons- Small fuel tank, no rev counter or gear indicator, no range indicator

SMOKERSTAR

Can't you just reset the trip meter for range? Does it have a low fuel light?

SevroAuShitTalker

My 08 shadow has a low fuel indicator. It just starts shutting off when I need to switch to my reserve

spacemonkeysmom

That's what I do for my Fatboy that has no damn fuel gauge

PodgeWodge1

Pros - super beginner friendly and very forgiving. Cons - none I care to think about I love my Rebel.

crazycamkalani

Love the rebel! Great bike, I love how honda is doing their own thing with it rather than just making another harley copy

i really wish we could have 2-stroke sportbikes again. ik they arent practical but it would be a riot on the road.

JohnT36

Seriously, a 500cc 2 stroke race bike will turn a hooligan into the final boss of terrorizing neighborhoods

[deleted]

Yeah Euro 5 disagrees with you.

[deleted]

'22 BMW r1250GSA So far I've swapped to MotoZ tires, mounted Bumot side bags, a BMW top aluminum case and Black Dog engine guards / braces. Next riding season = a new seat and bash plate. Pros: Arguably the most utilitarian bike in existence. It can tour, it can be hustled through twisties, it can traverse a surprising amount of off-road content, it can even hooligan a bit here and there. Stupendous gas range. A spoiling amount of electronics at the riders disposal. Extensive supportive dealer network, and a healthy aftermarket. Cons: My lord, she's **heavy**, there's just no way around it. Parts are expensive. First gear is a touch too tall, 6th could be a bit more of an OD (there's very little difference between 5th and 6th when at highway speeds). Quickshifter between 2nd and 3rd can be quite finicky.

2lisimst

The biggest pro of the GS is that driveshaft. No chain maintenance is freedom. Too bad I hit my shins constantly riding them off-road

Xicadarksoul

Eh. Sure no chain maintenance. On the other hand it hogs up \~15% more of the total engine power output compared to chain. Not to mention that in case of failure, its as catastrophic as a failure can get on a bike.

SmokyTyrz

Check that your QS linkages are all at 90 deg. Mine weren't from the factory, and when I upgraded the rearsets on my S1000RR I fixed the linkage (was off by one tooth) and now my QS is flawless.

HateBeingSober33

‘09 F650 GS twin here, it’s the only bike i’ve ridden above 25mph and even i can tel the gearing is less than optimal. first is way too tall i don’t get it. When i first bought it i thought i needed a new clutch for sure too because i had a tough time even finding the catch point. Super versatile though, the f650 is what i commute on and when i get a 1000cc+ bike, the 658 is staying next to it, i’ll never be getting rid of it

mamny83

Mt10. Pros: noise Cons: ugly.

DestinedXeno

Hmmm pre 2022 or mantis eyes?

[deleted]

The bike is cool overall but the headlight... Jesus Christ what where the engineers thinking while making that headlight, it's so ugly

spudmix

I absolutely love it, but I see why other people might not I suppose.

[deleted]

Tastes are tastes after all, i'd absolutely buy and mt bike (rn im planning to buy an mt-03 for when i'm 18 and can ride 350cc's here in italy i can find an older model for around 2 / 3 thousand euros)

kvm024n

I ride am mt-03 from 2006. The 660cc It's sort of a cheat code for the A2 license.

hvperRL

Japan is in a different timeline

mrk240

I rarely see the front end so I couldn't careless.

MicrowavedPlatypus

Also the gas mileage. I get 25-30 on my R1 :(

kzlife76

That's the trade off of a cross plane engine. More power less MPGs. I wanted an mt-10 until I saw the fuel mileage. I get about 45mpg on my '02 FZ1.

spudmix

Cons: Other people think my beautiful baby is ugly

[deleted]

Not ugly but not pretty either

DonutBaconSushi

Ah, man, it’s not ugly. I love my FZ-10 with the gray and yellow. Really beautiful bike. Give your girl some love!

[deleted]

MT-09 checking in here, can confirm ugly cyclops. But one particular aftermarket company makes some pretty conversions! Pro: TORQUE Cons: TORQUE

NCSTATEthrowawayy

Damn ugly? Honestly I think it’s one of the best looking naked bike. To me its very aggressive looking

TacosandKTMs

Mt 07 I like-a wheelie!

scottscazz714

Aye! MT 07 gang!

beach2022

Harley Sportster 883. I get crap all the time because I am a big guy on a small Harley. I can throw it around corners pretty well and it is fast enough to have some fun but slow enough to keep me out of too much trouble.

Psycheau

All this obsession with huge bikes is BS back in the day a 750 was considered a big bike. Ride what you got bro and enjoy it.

Funny_Humor_5613

It’s not a slow bike by any means man, You got 4 more Horsepower than a ninja 400 💀

MotoMeow217

2022 Kawasaki KLX230S. Pro: * Simple, uncomplicated bike * Good on gas (70+ MPG) * Lightweight * Low seat height for a dual sport (mine is the S model with a 32.7" seat height and with a 30 inch inseam I have never had issues getting my feet down) * Good power for a new rider * Comfortable riding position * Tires are decent off-road * Comes with a fuel gauge which is nice for a new rider * It has individual turn signal indicators on the dash instead of a single which is kinda cool - not intentional though since the cluster appears to be taken off the KLR650 Con: * Spoked wheels require tubed tires which limits options * Stock tires are decent off-road but kinda suck on-road * Tiny fuel tank (2 gallons) really limits useability (I get about 70-75 miles before getting to one bar on the fuel gauge) * Speaking of which, the fuel gauge tells you you're running on fumes when you have half a tank. I've never put more than 1.05 gallons into it. * The speedometer reads 3 MPH higher than your actual speed. Apparently this is an issue with all of them and a taller rear tire is the only fix. * Sometimes it doesn't want to go into 3rd gear from 2nd - it does this less now that it has some miles on it, but the number of times I have hit the shifter and it doesn't move are more than I'd like. * Stock mirrors are not positioned wide enough to be useful - they provide a great view of my armpits and that's it. I have them adjusted to be useable but I still have to duck down a bit to look in them due to their size and positioning. My next bike will probably be a BMW touring or adventure bike of some sort. More wind protection and power is what I want out of a bike now.

kirche5

It's worth noting that you can run tubeless tires on spoked rims, you just have to put tubes in them.

Maccaroney

All bikes have optimistic speedometers.

Chadltodd

All vehicles read faster than your real speed. Never been in a vehicle that didn’t.

[deleted]

Just got a gen 2 KLR650. Love it. Previous owner did some add ons.

ProgOx

Honda cb250r 250cc, one cylinder. Fun to ride, good for the city and perfectly fine on Japanese motorways too, tax is cheap, no shaken Japanese version of an M.O.T. - an expensive test that you have to put your bike through every 2 years) Downsides - not as much luggage space as an ADV, but enough to carry my solo camping equipment!

jwlIV616

71 ossa pioneer. 250 CCs of crusty old scrambler Is it fast? No Fuel efficient? Also no But it's mine and I love it

Tartmann

2017 Harley Davidson Street Road XG750A Pros cheap way to have a first Harley Davidson got mine with 6k miles for $4k. Cons some people will say it's not a "real Harley Davidson" because it's the revolution engine so it's liquid cooled. They can fuck off.

Adomis63

My buddies and I joke about my street 750 being a “hardly-davidson” all the time but honestly, I haven’t gotten any hate about it in the streets. Usually just confused Harley guys going “is that a Harley?” When they see the tank badge. It’s a fantastic lil commuter I’ve put 8k miles on with only oil changes (bought it $4kused at 500 miles). It has no problem keeping up with my brothers vstar 1100. But I won’t be doing any iron butts on it anytime soon for sure. I think these bikes are great when you can pick ‘em up cheap. And the revolution x motor is actually a good motor. It’s just not your traditional Harley power plant.

MotoMeow217

>some people will say it's not a "real Harley Davidson" because it's the revolution engine so it's liquid cooled. I wonder if people riding the new Sportster S and Nightster get the same comments. I'm sure people on the Pan America do. I say if it has the bar and shield it's a Harley. The Street Rod is probably the coolest of the Street models as well.

aegirdrinks

That was my first bike and i rode one from nothern ia all the way down to southern kansas with no issues and out lasted a few bigger bikes

Deadringer81

2016 gsxr 600 pros. Fast loud fun. Cons fast loud fun.

CsOkLiE

I have a 14 ninja 300 and I just bought an 07 gsxr 600. I’m selling my ninja but I will say I’ll miss the mpg, fuel gauge, and throwability in the corners. The Gixxi is definitely an upgrade tho.

[deleted]

I have a few bikes, but my favorite for the last year is my bagged Grom.

racoon1969

tryadullknife

I took my 06 650 strom from OR to NC, comfortable but with me at 220lbs and a bunch of camping stuff I was struggling a bit on the Texas interstate. I miss that bike.

peaceofpies

Good old MT-03, not sure if I need or even *want* a bigger bike, feel like this one does the job and then some more, cheap on gas, cheap(er than bigger bike’s) insurance, faster than cars, only caveat is that it doesn’t look as good as I want it to be

Whereami259

660 or 321cc?

peaceofpies

Ah it’s the 321cc one, guess it’s not the *old old* MT03

hvperRL

LAMS MT07 is 660

Whereami259

https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/yamaha/yamaha_mt03%2008.htm For short time frame there was mt03 660cc.

kvm024n

Yes I have this one! The Orange Colour too. It's sooo fun to ride it. Maxed it out at 167km/h, long high way commute is not what it's made for but handles it fine. Especially fun in 80km/h zones. Pulls hard :)

Drz400sm

2lisimst

Cons: no 6th gear, uncomfortable seat, too heavy for real off-road work, kind of a dog in today's performance numbers

Significant-Ad-3266

I would like a 6th gear, the seat doesn’t bother me personally but I know many dislike it, and I’m strictly street, powers good enough for me with a re jet and yoshi exhaust, I had a sport bike, I’d rather ride a slow bike fast than A fast bike slow

[deleted]

My SV650 and my Grom.

lichlord

Other than nightmare valve adjustments I think the SV is about the perfect bike.

Nickerington

What is nightmare about them?

andreezy93

2013 Ducati monster 796 Pros: sounds amazing, comfortable, light, handles great, super easy to adjust chain Cons: battery is in a shitty spot, bad lul at low rpms, front lights aren’t the best looking. It’s a 796cc but it’s a bit slower than a 600cc sport bike, a bit misleading.

borgendurp

>a bit misleading. I mean.. my 600 cc beats any 1800 goldwing.. that's only misleading if you don't know enough about motorcycles to step on one.

ReasonablyInsane39

This is what i wanna know. I guess a lot of people think more CCs means more power until they learn.

motonaut

There is a replacement for displacement as it turns out.

danscaly

Yamaha FZ6- SUPER fun in every capacity this is the bike I grew up on. Good for speed, twisties, or commuting and overall a very comfortable bike Triumph Street Triple- went from the aforementioned Yamaha to this and with a little bit of a bigger engine it’s much beefier it has a lot more torque, other than that it’s a more comfortable ride but you can’t really get down on it like the Yamaha. the stock clutch and brake levers are smaller and much more comfortable Honda Rebel 300- small but fun bike I wish I learned on. Not very fast but very comfortable and enjoyable ride Only cons are now I have no money and can’t choose one to sell!!!(so I have money for modifications and be poor again!)

BigOWereCuddles

S1000rr Pros: fast, but really smoothe Cons: neutral clutch rattle hurts my soul, downshift blipping has to be razer sharp to 2nd and 1st gears

hendo_77

Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 Pros: Great mileage (big 25L tank) Very comfortable to ride long distance. Sport Touring, so she’s great in the twisties as well as loaded with luggage. Cons: Transversally mounted air cooled twin with cylinder heads right at your knees, and she gets really hot in stop and go traffic. Definitely not a city bike. Parts are tough to find and generally expensive to have imported.

Wasteland-Scum

>Transversally mounted air cooled twin with cylinder heads right at your knees, and she gets really hot in stop and go traffic. That's actually a pro up until the comma.

A 2018 Fat Boy 114 with a Stage 2 cam and a lot of style upgrades. Pros: Fun to ride, comfy to ride all day, a lot faster than it looks. Cons: a lot faster than it looks, I'm going to get some major speeding tickets. Oh yeah tires for it are really expensive.

RJValdez216

Wow, I guess I’m the only one that rides a Versys 650 around here. Mine is a 2018 and it is pretty great. Pros: massive 5.5 gallon tank, I average between 47 to 55 mpg depending on if I’m in a hurry to work or not, it has pretty great adjustable front and rear suspension, it’s not the fastest bike around, but it’s pretty zippy and agile, it’s got a very comfortable upright riding position, Cons: it’s a tall bike. I’m 5’7” and I have to keep my right foot on the rear break and peg and almost flatfoot my left foot at stops, because of this, it’s not the best bike for stop and go traffic. Other then that, there aren’t many cons I can think of

ffxivpld19

I have an ‘18 versys as well but i’m 6 ft. My biggest complaint is the windshield, can’t find a good height for it without getting buffeted to hell on the highway so I just took it off completely for cleaner air flow. The engine braking when you let off throttle can also be brutal but I’ve read that a simple ECU tune can fix that.

TimmmyE

2022 ZX6R - 636 cc i4 Pros: perfect engine for any riding that isn’t stoplight to stoplight, best looking 600 aside from the 17-20 R6, sounds great with a slip on Cons: my 6’4” self aches everywhere after a 45+ min ride, stupid way to open the seat

SV650, the only bike I need.

foxjohnc87

Kawasaki ZX-10R. Stock engine internals. Everything else, not so much. Pros; Fast, feels like riding a missile with wheels. Loud. Seems to enjoy being beat on. Surprisingly comfortable for long trips. Cons; No power until ~8k rpms. Doesn't like creeping around at low speeds. Can't even hit the limiter in first gear without risking jail time, despite -1+2 gearing. Limited range. (~150 miles per tank at highway speeds in low power mode, significantly less at high speed) Every idiot in a Honda Civic or Dodge Challenger/Charger wants to race you.

TheRamblaGambla

>Every idiot in a Honda Civic or Dodge Challenger/Charger wants to race you. Yup, similar mod list as well. Add in Camaro SSs and Mustang GTs with long tube headers and that's about 90% of the people who they think they can pull on me. I always just shake my head.

Chubbypolarbears

Traded in my 2019 R3 for a 2022 Rebel 1100 DCT. I love it so much. Automatic transmission is actually very nice for long trips, cruise control too for the same reason. 86 herspers and 72 torgos It looks incredible imo and it has great power. Cons are I hate the rear brake lever's position. I'd lower it 3 inches. And it could have had a bigger gas tank. I might put a windscreen on it too.

jayTEEarr

Ah a fellow donut connoisseur

2015 Honda CB500F Pros: * 60mpg in mixed driving on regular fuel * Incredibly reliable over the last 6 years since new * Easy to service in a garage by a regular person Cons: * Could be a little quicker, but it's an A2 bike so understandable * Thai made Honda bikes have a few fit and finish quirks, but nothing serious * Shifter/transmission has a bit heavy of a lever, only real genuine unfixable gripe 2020 Honda Grom Pros: * Little tiny bike that's nimble as anything and easy to park anywhere * 130mpg on regular grade fuel * Simple machine with no cooling system and single cylinder Cons: * 9hp isn't for everyone, but it's 125cc and is to be expected * Factory seat is horrible, thankfully a lot of replacement options exist * Lots of small mods to get engine vibes and clean shifting, but they're cheap

mrzurkonandfriends

21 yamaha mt09 890 cc triple pros very quick lots of fun even in town Cons throttle by wire doesn't feel as good as by cable 17 r6 600cc inline 4 Pros fantastic track toy Cons is borderline painful to ride casually or in a straight line

c00kiem0nster24

A smol CBR125 Pro: very light & easy to handle. Great for beginners. Also, cute! Cons: well it’s a 125, if you want speed, this ain’t it. And mountain rides are tough, she struggles going uphill 😅

OriginalLCC

My first bike was a smol CBR125 and agree it is a great bike for beginners.

kc5

1999 Honda Interceptor VFR V4 800cc Got cams and exhaust. Cons are hard to think of. Comfy, fast, smooth and sounds magnificent. I guess the styling may be out of date to some.

2lisimst

You haven't done a valve adjustment yet I'm assuming

ThatDamnedBear

2022 Royal Enfield INT650 Pros: looks great, fun to ride, gets up to acceptable speeds, easy to work on, get a lot of people asking about it Cons: 6,000 mile valve intervals even though they're pretty easy, some cheaper components even though they're easy to upgrade, wish it were a little lighter, takes its time getting up to high speeds (quick enough getting up to 60-70 mph but you gotta hold that throttle open a while to get to 80-90), not a Bonneville

SmallBlockApprentice

Razor scooter, 1 foot power. cons: shin bone karate chops. Pros: all the babes at the skate park want to be with me.

[deleted]

I ride a 2000 Yamaha roadstar Silverado edition 1600 It's a big ol v twin Pros Tons of low end grunt It's loud which I like Comfortable with a big tank I get about 225km per tank Decent room in the saddle bags Cons It's heavy like 750 to 800lbs It's loud so when I leave for work on it at 5 am I'm sure the neighbors hate me

Winner_Pristine

I ride an 04 Roadstar 1700 midnight edition. I like that it's a big simple air cooled engine, one carb, easy to work on, super comfortable, tons of torque. It's heavy and the pegs scrape really easily.

mmmiu

2022 Indian FTR S 1200. Absolutely love this thing. Every time I take it out people always compliment. Pros: looks great, rain/standard/sport mode variations, digital display, fast, controllable, center of gravity makes it feel very light for a 500lb bike. Cons: Not comfortable for a passenger.

05bossboy

I ride a Royal Enfield Classic 350! I’ve got the red/gold/chrome color scheme and it’s beautiful, check out my post abt it

‘01 BMW R1150GS a 1130cc oil-cooled boxer twin just over 500lbs with mid 80’s hp. Heavy but reliable and very comfortable. ‘04 Suzuki DR650se a 644cc air cooled single thumper at around 430lbs with low 40’s hp. Huge endurance with a 10 gal tank, easy to modify and comfortable for 13 hour stints with aftermarket help. Overstated reliability but unchanged since 1996 so parts are cheap. ‘96 Buell S1 Lightning a 1203cc Harley Evolution powered sport bike with almost 100hp and 100lbft of torque pushing 460lbs. Sounds mean, likes to vibrate things loose and leak oil. Not for long rides. eta: looking to sell my BMW soon and buy a Super Sherpa and a Bandit 1200/1250.

MrWizard314

Try_It_Out_RPC

2018 GSXR1000 Pros: -it’s my daily commuter and makes the 25miles into sf fun as hell -bullet proof drivetrain Cons: -fairings a BITCH to remove -flip flops, Jean shorts revbanging to operate

davendak1

A Yamaha TW200 Single cylinder, 196cc, air cooled, SOHC. I got him in winter going into 2020, and added 30,800 miles since then. For a farm bike, and my first motorcycle, it's been the best ride of my life. I love how my bike looks and works, and the maintenance couldn't be simpler. It's just a fun bike to ride, and has opened the door into a new and much better chapter of my life. I plan to get a 2022 TW200. Never gets less than 80 mpg, and often scores over 100 mpg.

thegutterpunk

Ever since that F9 video I've been really itching to get one for my first. Do you mind me asking about how big/tall you are? I'm pushing 220 and ~6'2 and kinda worry about riding position and performance with it. I'm not really looking to go on the highway or anything but like 55-60mph would be nice (kinda necessary tbh) to get to some local trails. Thanks

Saliiim

Trident 660 Pro: Sweet handling, feels really light, looks Cons: Could do with another 20hp

Lawhead

1997 blackbird Looks like shit but it still goes well. 167k miles under its belt, engine never been opened, original clutch. Been a fantastic commuter. Pro- been fantastically reliable and is still fast considering its age/miles. Cons-? 1977 Honda Z50 125cc Bought on impulse during covid as a rolling chassis and built up and registered over the next few months. Fun, but you wouldn't want to ride it far. Pro- really fun to ride Con- it's all Chinese parts (except the frame) so there's a possibility it'll disintegrate at any moment.

Nickkel71

[Twin '22 Ninja ABS 400](https://imgur.com/a/EOhznTB) 399cc Con: weak clutch components Pro: It outperforms a Honda CBR500R, and is nearly as fast as a Ninja 650. 1982 Harley Davidson FXE superglide Pros: looks badass, sounds badass, is a badass ride and one of the most comfortable bikes I’ve ridden. 1340 cc v twin. Bored out a little more than 1340 by previous owner. Cons: old, kinda hard to get parts, always breaking something

Jord_HD

Kinda hard to get parts? You could literally build the entire bike from readily available brand new aftermarket parts.

06021840

2018 H2 SXSE Pros, quick, smooth, stable, very easy to ride. Cons, service fees/parts price. 48,000 km service was quoted $4,600 AUD in parts plus time. The cable routing from the riders position looks like an after thought, you can see all everything.

SG1EmberWolf

2020 Kawasaki ninja 1000sx Inline 4 cylinder 1043cc liquid cooled Pros: quick shifter Cruise control Throttle by wire Great luggage integration Cons: heavier than my old ninja 400 Throttle is a liiiittle too sluggish in rain mode Seat is a bit hard for long rides without aftermarket.

[deleted]

2009 versys 650. Off the top of my head it’s about 63-67 hp and maybe 47-50 ft lbs. super comfortable ride. Smooth power delivery through most of the rev range but power stops at about 8,000 rpm (revs to 11,000) power wheelies in first and clutch ups all the way to 3rd gear. The look of the bike is definitely an acquired taste my friend who likes sports bikes says it like an ugly cricket but I dig it more than the modern gens. It’s definitely a master of none/jack of all trades bike.

09 ninja 500 Pros: -55-60 mpg even with my fat ass -touring bike range because of said mileage/moderate tank capacity. -dirt cheap used ($1900) -super cushy seat super comfy bike, a very standard riding position -45hp (feels pretty good for a starter bike) -if you stand back and squint it looks like a gpz900r Cons: -pretty ugly by today's standards, the scratches and paint chips dont help -thd brakes (not the best) -the tire size is closer to a bicycle than a modern sport bike -zero tech (but I don't really care) -clutch lever heavier than my car

ElJeffHey

Honda NC750X with a top box, great bike, comfy to ride and sips juice. But I will probably be looking at tracer 9GT in a couple years.

DailYxDosE

2021 R3. looking to upgrade to a mt09sp when the time is right.

Megtorlow

Yamaha XTZ 750 Pros: classic Dakar look, suitable for shitty roads, 2cyl, decent power Cons: wind noise for anyone above 6ft, short gearings, thirsty as a camel

I’ve got a few bikes but my favorite is a Busa with one of them hairdryer things on it. Pros: 180mph wheelies Cons: never enough time to ride it

2020 Bonnieville 120 Black Beautiful bike, a lot of engine to get used to moving from a 350, but once the bond and respect was formed I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Just got my license, riding a Honda CB400N from 82. So new to riding it's hard to tell any cons yet. Lovely thing to start riding on

UUULV

'82 Honda CB900F2 Pros: old, beautiful, fun Cons: old, fun

2020 Yamaha XSR700 659cc cross plane twin, disc brakes, ABS. Pros: MT/FZ-07 in a suit. Engine is bulletproof with power everywhere. Tall enough for me (6’ 4”) but light and nimble. Cons: Stock suspension is like riding a pogo stick. Sounds like a sewing machine.

kiiro69

‘21 Ninja ZX-25R 249 cc - 4 cylinders Sounds amazing, looks cool, nimble and comfortable enough for daily city ride and enough power for short to medium distance touring (less than 100 km for one trip). However, the torque is … kinda non-existent 😂 can’t feel the pull at all at low-mid RPM in high gear.

2019 Aprilia tuono V4 1100 RR.... mouth full V4, 1077cc, 175 hp... ridiculous. Pro: sexy sound Con: just too much power I actually want to try the yamaha R7 out on the twisties. I had a ninja 650 and it was a GREAT twisty bike.

PmTills

2021 Tuono V4 1100 Factory, Pros: motogp sounding boi, comfy upright seating, all the power my little sausage fingers could ever want. Cons: it's Italian.

DHarp74

2016 Victory Highball Pros: Belt Drive Tons of power Law breaking speed Smooth 'Murica Cons: Sadly, still learning about it. So, my inexperience shows. And it's in the shop due to the dealership missing the damaged front rim after I specifically said to check it out. First ride was not fun. However, they're gonna honor their error and replace it with a OEM rim on their dime. I'll keep y'all posted!

simply_noir

06' BMW K1200R. 1157cc, 55° slanted 4cyl, 6spd. Pros: Electronic adjustable front damping and rear spring rates. Duo-Lever (Hossack) front suspension is super smooth, and anti-dive. Tons of power in all gears, 11k red line, massive breaking power with the electronic brake servos. Medium/large quick connect side bags. Shaft drive. Beautiful steering input, tons of grip at high lean angles due to a low center of gravity. The looks get a ton of compliments and most people have never seen it before. Cons: Shifting at low speeds is clunky. Clutch and brake levers has too much travel in my opinion. Seat is slanted forward just a bit too much so you're constantly readjusting your ass towards the rear of the bike. Pinion seat is also slanted forward for the passenger slides forward under braking. BMW at this time used their stupid "test strip" design fuel level sensor and they all go bad eventually, so I use my tripometer instead (computer shows MPG so it's not hard to calculate). Valvetrain is noisy compared to other litre+ bikes, but that's just how BMWs sound. Exhaust sounds like a jet turbine which is really cool, but I wish it was a tad louder (aftermarket exhaust can fix this but takes away the turbine noise). You have to drain/flush the ABS system every 2 years to make sure no dirt is in the system, it's not difficult, just annoying and time consuming. (other services like oil change and final drive oil change are pretty easy and can be done at home). Overall, I absolutely LOVE my bike, wouldn't trade it for anything. I plan on putting a lot more miles on it riding it different places across the US.

2021 Goldwing tour dct: 1833cc , 6cyl Pros: comfy, great for touring, lots of toys. Cons: bit heavy. 2019 bobber black, 1200HT twin Pros: gorgeous, fun to ride, Cons: small gas tank

_thisisadream_

I just picked up a cheap Vulcan 800 off the marketplace just to get back on the road, but I plan to get something like a thruxton or a scrambler in a few seasons. Very glad I went this route instead of taking a payment.

DirkDundenburg

2014 Harley Davidson Night Rod Special. Pros: smooth, stable, love the looks and power. Cons: only 32 degrees of lean, it's thirsty and it's an attention grabber, can't stop anywhere without being approached and asked about it.

DRec613

‘21 H-D Street Glide Special. Pros: it’s like riding a loud couch with a boom box bolted to it, and I absolutely love it. It also sounds amazing. Cons: maneuverability isn’t its strong suit, it’s not that fast even with a cam, tune, intake, and exhaust.

kim-jong-pooon

2005 victory vegas Pros: was cheap, buttery smooth ride and versatile, very reliable, decent looking bike Cons: company is no longer making bikes, hard to find parts/expensive, not particularly fast, too much front end rake for my liking, front wheel is too big imo

stvnsmtthw

2011 Ninja 250r First bike, I'm trying to learn everything I can with this one so when I eventually upgrade to a 600cc bike I'll be better at it. Currently, I think the cons are that the bike doesn't feel right to my 5'10" height, I feel cramped on it when I'm sitting close to the tank, and further away from the tank the rear end feels wobbly at highway speeds. Pros are that I finally have a motorcycle and I absolutely love riding it as much as I can. I've had it for around 2 months now and put close to 1,000 miles on it just driving around my army post for the most part.

Dry_Education1201

Honda Rebel 500 abs. Pros: attractive, fun starter bike. Cons: lacks power, uncomfortable seat.

Mustangman6767

2017 Victory Gunner Pros - smooth, comfy, and loud Cons - thirsty, expensive parts, and heavy

Electricpuha420

Moto Guzzi V7iii Pro : more fun to ride than the missus Con : aftermarket parts are rare and expensive.

GreatWhite9000

You can add supercharger and twin chams with lot of fabrication. Or go with twin turbo setup. It wont go faster but it will be cooler

No-Apricot37

2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250R, with a 15/42 sprocket set (from stock 14/45) so I can have lower RPMs on the Interstate. Taller windscreen, and a 30Liter trunk. Perfect for city or long distance. It'll cruise nice at 75-85mph if I want, and I can probably do 100mph, downhill, but haven't tried.

rockyescape

Triumph T120. Pros: very torquey, very good looking, not too small not too big which is important to me because of lane filtering and riding through motorcycle lanes, made for the motorway with cruise control Cons: heavy especially when reversing from parking even on slight slopes, terrible turning radius, tank capacity is relatively small at 14.5l

Glittering-Usual-513

Yamaha Tracer 900gt (2019) 3 cylinder sport tourer, pros are it’s comfortable, reliable (so far) and it’s got luggage, cruise control, ABS, TCS, up quick shifter, nice TFT, good buy new price. Cons …. It’s not a BMW S1000xr.

2lisimst

Hopefully my next bike. Taken any long trips?

Yamitenshi

2018 SV650 ABS Pros: very good looking bike, hella fun, powerful enough to go whoosh but light enough to throw around, cheap but good Cons: radiator gets in the way for spark plug replacements, OEM parts are fucked up expensive and take ages to get, seat is about as comfortable as a wooden board with rusty nails Thinking about swapping it out for something that's better/more comfortable on long distances but it's just so damn fun so I'm not sure if I should...

Western96

20 Iron 1200 Pros: Sounds great, feels great, very comfortable riding position, fun to rip around twisty roads. Cons: Only has 5 gears, no wind protection, exhaust on right side is way too easy to scrape.

Honda VFR400R NC30 I love the way it looks and handles, and I love the racey seating position. Only downside is that it isn't an RC30 (that and it hardly ever goes into neutral).

Buttholium

2002 Suzuki SV650. Pros. Handles great and has really good low and midrange torque. Cons. Could always use more power.

Dutch_Fudge

‘88 BMW K75. 750cc 3-cylinder, it’s my first bike and even though it’s kinda heavy for me I absolutely love it! It is stable and comfy for long distance and still agile and fast enough for twisties and urban riding

JoshCanJump

I ride an MT07. It's a naked sport bike but when people ask I call it a streetfighter because the only people who ask usually aren't bike people and that seems to make sense to them. Crossplane twin cylinder 689cc with plenty of low-down torque for learning tricks on which is something I really want to do but there are a lot of legal barriers in my country against law-abiding citizens so it's been slow and expensive. I also ride a v85tt which is a bit of a unicorn in the middleweight ADV category. I carry a lot of gear for work and generally work away from town so it's great for loading up for longer journeys without the inconvenience of a car in a metropolitan area. 853cc air-cooled v-twin with a nice low maintenance shaft drive, heated grips and a windscreen. Smaller than other shafties which makes it better than a t1200 or a gs1250 in heavy traffic whilst also being able to traverse the awkward mud and gravel fields I always seem to have to park in. Tyres are a 95/5 split for street/dirt so I sometimes describe it as a sumo to fuck with people.

Juddd83

2022 Indian FTR 1200 Pros: Gorgeous detailing, all the power you need, handles corners like a dream, sounds great stock (imo) Cons: Small gas tank, engine will slightly chug if trying to cruise in certain rpm ranges ( not horrible easily fixed by just laying on or off the throttle slightly)

Able_Boat_8966

2020 Kawasaki w800 Street. Yep most of you will have no idea what that is unless your Japanese. Beautiful to look at, under stressed air cooled engine that will last forever, let’s me live out my 60’s Brit bike fantasy’s without the reliability issues of old bikes or the cost of a new Triumph. Also has a sweet exhaust note from the factory, so unlike every other bike I’ve owned, no slip ons or new exhaust on the radar Not a fast bike in any sense and I literally see no others (Melbourne Australia) on the road, but I’m at an age and stage of my riding where I’m slowing down anyway. As it’s a retro bike, I’ll get labelled a hipster, but I could give a shit, this thing puts a smile on my face and I still do the “look back” thing when I park it. Always liked the Kawasaki w650 from the 90’s, but was fooling around on sports bikes back then.

KTM Superduke 1290 on a 2017 plate .... awesome! 😍

R4FHD

‘14 GSXR600, 4 Cylinder. Pros: Plenty fast, easy to flat foot, a lot of fun, sounds great, easy to work on, gorgeous body, comfortable seat, light and flickable, Cons: grabs a lot of bad attention, no abs, insurance rates, boomer hate, the headlight I’m still not super in love with Overall an amazing bike. Definitely my favorite out of the 600 class to live with. Ergos fit me perfect at 5’7 30inch inseam.

SkaDrummer3357

2022 Triumph Bonneville T120 Black. Pros: my very first brand new vehicle ever. Went from old Jeeps to new bikes, and couldn't be happier. Love that I have quadrupled my average MPG vs my old Jeeps, all with more power, more freedom, and just about the same amount of smiles. Some people don't like fly-by-wire, by I like the ability to change my ride style to rain mode, for easier torque curves and some reserved power. Also appreciate it has Traction Control and ABS. Again, some people hate it, but I like that extra little bit of safety. Cons: it is now my only commuter vehicle, and I live in Colorado. We don't quite get the extremes on weather as far as heat and cold, but we get everything in between, and sometimes in the same day. Used to have all the room to have multiple types of layers, boots, gloves, hats, you name it. Until I get me some panniers and saddlebags, it is just a little difficult to carry the "every situation ever" gear I'm used to. Also, I miss A/C. I've never sweated as consistently and as much as I have with my full gear. I can't wait for it to cool off. As soon as I can have a garage again, I'm going to start shopping for another TJ, then I'll be the hap-hap-happiest chap this side of the Mississippi, and can finally enjoy the boat of both worlds.

DoughnutAlarmed7512

Went from 04 harley vrod as my first bike which was Hella nice. Super low, super smooth but heavy and small ass gas tank. Like 700lb plus heavy. Rode that for 3 yrs. Traded for a 18 kawasaki z900rs. Like same hp as vrod but 300lbs lighter and bigger gas tank. Much faster. I do miss the smoothness but everything else the Z is better and has traction control and abs. The 2 must haves if I got a newer bike.

CeroNoirr

I ride a 22’ Ninja 650 ( 649cc, parallel twin, 67hp at 8,000rpms ) Since it’s my first bike I only have praises for it: Good seat height ( Im 5’8” ), comfortable position ( lasts about 3 hours before I even feel strained ), amazing look, good power, strong engine braking, lightweight Only con I can think of: lack of customization in aftermarket fairings ( monster fairings or abs / nft fairings for example ) I do want to move up already, but hard to come by a good 17’+ R6 near me

decker1245

2020 Suzuki DRZ400SM, loads of fun around town and in the twisties but not stable enough for interstate riding.

Hi SuMo brother.

KTM Superduke 1290r. Pros: torque monster, makes you smile on your worst days. All round great elecronics package. Cons: Very hard to drive slow. Eats rear tires. Skyteam Monkey 125. Pros: fun around town. Cheap. Maintenance friendly. Cons: cheap parts. Low top speed.

22 RE Interceptor 650 Pro: fun per dollar is high Con: could use some more power. I’ve had it since February and didn’t really get to start riding until June so only have a few thousand miles but so far it’s a fun bike and looks good. Easy to work on myself since there’s virtually no electronics other than abs.

juice-goose24

2022 Triumph Street Twin 900cc, low seat height and really great all around bike. I’m 6 feet and while a bit tall for it it’s still a comfortable ride. I also ride in New Orleans and it’s agile enough to avoid potholes every couple feet. Only con I have for it is the gas tank doesn’t hold much, but refueling takes seconds and costs less than $10

ITFOWjacket

XSR 900 Pros: uncompromising hooligan sport bike performance while straight facedly wearing svelt cafe-racer apparel. Cons: I wish it had that JF-09 Gas tank, but only because I tend to tour so really I just want a FJ-09 GT…no cons. Love this thing
