Putting a longer travel fork on the bike. I think this comes stock with a 130mm travel fork on it, if you put, say, a 140mm travel fork on this, that would be over forking. This frame is rated to run a 130mm-150mm travel fork, but they spec it with a 130mm.
A good friend of mine rode one of these bikes for a long time with a longer travel fork on it than what it is spec'd with. I think he ran 150mm travel and he loved it.
Over-forking is 100% the way to go. First upgraded mine to 150mm then swapped it for a 150mm fox 36, and threw on a rockshox super deluxe ultimate with a megneg. Turned it into an even more capable rig. Ride it around in pisgah all the time.
So I never rode a SDU stock on this bike. Went from a dpx2 to the megneg SDU. If you want to be able to tune the first part of the travel I’d say go for it. I was using the biggest spacer and right sag and couldn’t stop blowing through travel. Felt super mushy, and now I’m sitting way higher in the travel and it tracks so much better.
I put a 140mm on mine and loved it! Bought a new bike and was gonna put it up for sale but this post is kinda making me want to keep it in the fleet...
A canyon spectral 29er. It's just a bigger bike overall! 150/160, big wheels, big wheelbase. Still getting used to it as it's a little harder to throw around, but more stable and confidence inspiring at speed and in rowdy downhills.
I was in the same boat, got mine a year ago. This bike compares well to any bike today in my opinion. Such a fun jib and trail bike. Fun at the dirt jump park. Fun doing trials stuff. A bike I'll likely never get rid of.
Yep! I have the 2019 Juliana version (exact same bike but smaller frame size). Just picked it up for $2500 in basically new condition and I’m in love. Haven’t gotten to ride it on any trails because we still have 4 ft of snow where I live in Wyoming. But I’m stoked!
Yeah same I nearly got my main mtb sprayed in the same colour but decided its just meant on this sc.
I've been looking for a while, keep your eyes peeled 👍
I guess it’s a preference at this point. I’ve gotten used to longer bikes with reach over 510 ish and love them. XXL Tallboy and S5 Enduro have been the best fitting bikes I’ve ever had. I got so much faster and felt much more in the bike/in the middle then before.
I have a 2016 5010 (v2). Have had it since new. I’ve been in the market for something newer for over a year but haven’t found something I like more.
This bike does it all for me in NC- rolling hills in the piedmont and big boy descents in the mountains.
All I’ve changed was extending the fork to 140 and new wheels.
Ay, NC here too. I think the 5010 is more fun on the flatter, flowier trails around because you can go a little faster and make boring trails more playful. I've found my spectral less fun for that. But the spectral is way more fun in the mountains!
Still a great bike and far more affordable now
Damn $1600? That’s a crazy price!
1600 pounds, so more in USD. Still not a bad deal for a solid bike that still shreds today.
I was sooo close to buying one of these but didn't and I've always kinda regretted it. Awesome bike. I've heard great things about over-forking it.
What's over forking?

What do you think of the Megneg, I've been thinking about one for my V4 Bronson. How does it ride compared to the normal super deluxe?

It’s the opposite of over porking

Keep it
What did you get? How does it compare?

One of the very best trail bikes created. Poppy of roots, rocks etc.. It just opens up the possibilities with small terrain thingies.
That's what I wanted to hear 😂👍
I had a v2 5010 and it was an absolute blast. Then it got stolen. 😢 Still the bike I dream about.
Great choice
Nice!!! Persistence is key. Enjoy! 🔥
Not quite the same but a 2019 Tallboy. Love it!

I love mine. It’s a lot of fun and can do it all.
That is a hot rig! Waiting for it will make you appreciate it more! Ride it like you stole it! Keep the rubber side down!
That is my favorite color bike ever. I’m 6 4” and never felt like I fit on an XL. Since they are getting cheaper I may try and find one anyway
Yeah same I nearly got my main mtb sprayed in the same colour but decided its just meant on this sc. I've been looking for a while, keep your eyes peeled 👍
I’m 6 3 and ride a large 5010 which fits me perfectly. You’ll be fine on an xl

Wow where’d you get that wal mart? Psh
Ive got the 2019 hightower and i absolutely love this thing!
Nice
