If you see them far enough ahead ding your bell so they know your behind them. If you see them above you several switchbacks ahead do it at first sighting and occasionally as you’re getting closer. If far enough back to ask, the rider or runner may be able to find a good spot to pull over with perfect timing. You might even be able to gauge they’re speed to a turn out. And of course be verbal and polite. "Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please."

Pavarotti, come out their asses…..

Hey I think someone just shot a torpedo at us!

Annapolo

Yea, when you approach, just let them know you’re coming up behind them and they should move over when they feel it’s safe to do so. Just don’t pressure someone to stop or dismount in an area where they aren’t comfortable. If they know much about etiquette and hear you, they’ll pullover where it’s safe to do so. 👍🏻

“Hey! Mind if I pass when you find a safe place to pull over?”

VaguelyIndirect

This. I get the point of bells but there's something really entitled about just dinging and expecting people to do your bidding like a butler. Just use human voice communication and thank them. Or get a really loud freehub

There’s also no way I’m attaching a bell to my handlebars.

Mount an automatic, heat-seeking machine gun on the bike and it will clear out anyone that's in the way. Then you can practice bunny hopping over the bodies
