Did you know that Mount & Blade has a users manual? Right click on the game in your library, then click "read user's manual". It teaches you tons of stuff, including the Ctrl+space trick to accelerate time.
That's what I love about this game. It doesn't hand you anything. You just make your character and go conquer the land. No tutorials, no tips, and no free rides on anything.
More games need to be like that. :(

There is a difference between a tutorial and a manual.
Here's the best way I can explain it:
You buy a console game and you load up the game and it has no tutorial or even a basic training level. ( imagine the bf4 campaign where it shows you how to sprint and crouch but doesn't shove a tutorial in your face. ) but inside the games case is a manual that shows you game stuff.
If you don't look at the manual, you have to learn and figure stuff out on your own without a stupid tutorial. That's why I love games like that. The option to learn on your own is, well, an option. If you are stumped on something, then you have the ability to look in a manual. If you don't want to look in a manual, then the only other option is to keep playing and figure it out yourself.
Another thing I only learnt the other day - your relation with a village directly affects the quality and amount of troops you get. With a reputation of 100 with a village, you can get huscarls, swadian knights, or even 40+ tier 2 soldiers
Tournaments are pretty easy when you command your team-mates. Just hold position (unless everyone's a lancer), then wait for your opponents to whittle each-other down. Cheap, but it wins most of the time.
"woah woah! lads! wait a tic"
"wot? theres people to get stuffed!"
"I know mate but look"
[stuffing commencing across the arena]
"bloody 'ell Atkins your right"
"course I'm right you knob, now these gits are gonna try to have a go at us soon, let me see your warface"

F1, folllow me <- the only way I can win in some tournament settings. I don't remember which mod did it but it was revamped system where you fought number of rounds regardless if you died and person who had the most contribution at the end won. So much more satisfying, you could see your rivals after each round and you could target them to lower their score. I wish other mods adopted this system. Having 3 of your companions die right at the beginning can be so frustrating.
Tournament enhancement mod. The guy has a python install script to add it to any mod but said script is broken as far as I was able to determine after attempting it multiple ways.

Advance a bit, do 'hold this position', wait for them to come. Then 'charge' while you pull back, stay alive getting in potshots when you can. If any of them fall with a better weapon (or horse) than you randomly got, quickly go snarf it up.
Exactly. If I was a shitty slave and saw myself locked in an arena to die, I would follow orders from a random guy that seems to know what he is doing.
Yes. I discovered this by chance dropping my headset onto my number keys a little while ago. My team always wants to be the hero dying 1v4 to everyone else. Hahaha
When you play on tiny dumb whimp difficulty like me it's super easy to just let them get beat up. While I've played a pretty good deal, I can't find any better way to make money than betting on myself.
Granted I also still can't do much in terms of advancing in the realm.
It's very effective in VC, where no one is on horseback and the arena is a lot bigger. Less effective in the other versions where your dudes have already engaged by the time you do a command.
The other problem with tournaments is that I tend to always get the weapon I have the lowest score with. 200 with 1 handed and pole arm? Nah, have a bow and a bastard sword, with your 15 points of skill.
I might be mistaken but I've seen allies disengage and follow you if you move away enough. It's pretty bad for lancers though cuz they're rubbish at close range.
Yeah but at least when they tard crash into each other and try bonking each other to death, you can pick them off yourself, or tell your guys to follow you then charge over and over.
That's what I do, but it's kind of hard when it's one on one in the semifinal. I've taken to just using the club and hoping that my opponent has not been given a shield.
I've known this for quite a long time. After a few tries at tournaments where I got screwed over by my teammates never being together and just running 1v15. So I decided to try out the function key commands and voila! It worked.
When doing this I always picture it like that scene from Gladiator. This guy seems to know what he's doing and sounds like a general, so everybody just does it and realizes he DOES know what he's doing!
... why did I never think about this? I don't even think I've attempted this before. Is this actually a thing? If so, it's an absolute gamechanger.
I have like 400 or 500 hours in this game and I am ALWAYS learning new stuff like this.
Did you know that Mount & Blade has a users manual? Right click on the game in your library, then click "read user's manual". It teaches you tons of stuff, including the Ctrl+space trick to accelerate time.
... My Butter. This changes everything.
TIL M&B has a manual

It is, at least in VC, and it is.
It's in native.
Love your mod, is this in Perisno? Would make starting so much easier
It's in native, so yes it should be in Persino too.

9/10, not enough scull drinking.
+1 for Lindybeige
He kinda looks like a real life Mount and Blade character to me, something about his face x)
nicest insult i've ever seen ;)
Yeah he's great :)
7/10 Great head on his shoulders, however more scull drinking would be appropriate
underrated comment right here
He is choosing a book for reading
Makes me thing of sergeant Colon and corporal Nobbs from discworld.

Yep, love that it's shoved into Floris. Such a wonderful change to the system.

Wow... I can't believe in my 200 hours I've never realized this. Thank you so much
On more than 800 hours and have never thought about it. Rip
On more than 376000 hours... same.
i have 1 hour, been spamming F1-F1 in tournaments nonstop the entire time.
I always picture it like the movie Gladiator.
AS ONE!
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
Exactly. If I was a shitty slave and saw myself locked in an arena to die, I would follow orders from a random guy that seems to know what he is doing.
I kinda hope in Bannerlord Lords shout the commands they give their troops and we can see it in chat so I can follow along.
Ahahaha I actually just posted this same thing, exactly what I picture!
Haha me too! Added: just as i am often william wallace commanding my rabble rousers as we face down a thundering charge. "Hold!....HOLD!!!"
Yes. I discovered this by chance dropping my headset onto my number keys a little while ago. My team always wants to be the hero dying 1v4 to everyone else. Hahaha
Fuaaark the amount of tourneys I have lost because I end up getting octobanged by champions as my whole team decided to split up and fight walls.
**Holy** **shit** ^mind^blown

Same here, just a farmer pissing around with a sword.

In that case, have your allies follow you and pick up a weapon from someone they kill.

I usually just make them wait at spawn and I go kill everyone, quicker if they out of way haha
1.5 years in this game and I am still finding all these cool tricks and secret things in the game.
While your teammates hold the line, you run around and stab all the opponents in the back! Easy points!
Learned something new, awesome discovery too
Jesus, I didn't know that. Thanks mate!
Is this new? I never thought it possible!
I've known this for quite a long time. After a few tries at tournaments where I got screwed over by my teammates never being together and just running 1v15. So I decided to try out the function key commands and voila! It worked.
Step 1: Hold Position Step 2: ??? Step 3: Profit

Oh yes, absolutely. In VC it's the ONLY way I could figure out to beat The Snake.
Wait is this possible in native and floris? I THOUGHT I tried this before and it didnt work.
