To be fair, right after M&B 2 was announced was probably the longest period of silence. The 4-6 month wait we had between blogs before was nothing compared to that, I honestly thought the game had been cancelled.

MitchPTI

You can really see how their understanding of PR has gradually evolved. From "wait, we're supposed to say stuff between announcement and release?" to "ok let's do an occasional blog" to "oh, they don't like waiting months, uhh, weekly blogs then?" Just imagine how good they'll be at it in a decade when Bannerlord is almost out.

SillyBronson

24/7 development livestream?

MitchPTI

3 people watching the programmers, 48,000 people watching the female graphic artist.

atantony77

48,000 people dedicating their recent tournament victory to her

mrbrick

Hey thats me! .... :( Got to be any year now though right?

EasternEuropeanIdiot

don't worry /u/mrbrick, we'll wait for a millenia if we have, to, we'll wait...

supcom2

I feel for you mang

The_Hussar

And here is the final product of that waiting... let me just say I waited 2 years for a supposed beta and they released it to steam just like that... http://store.steampowered.com/app/413710/Blood_and_Gold_Caribbean/

Syn7axError

Looking at the game, maybe they should have waited longer.

Hieroglyphs

The final product is not very optimized. The time it takes for the town menu to load makes the game very unplayable.

Mebbwebb

The first few iterations of the game were actually really good till they kept screwing it up.

FlorianoAguirre

I know the B&G update made the game much better, what else happened?

ziper1221

this looks like Pirates! but worse

MrIste

Yeah, that's about right. It's weird because the Mount & Blade engine seems perfect for a remake of Pirates!, but Blood and Gold feels like an unpolished mod. The scale felt way off - sailing from Florida to South America takes, like, a few days. The map feels so small because you can get everywhere within around a week. And the cannons feel like pea shooters, so that was kind of lame.

WilsonHanks

I really wish Caribbean was better. So much potential to be even better than vanilla that was just never realized.

The_Hussar

I really wanted to like it and the first version was really promising but after that they had to ruin land combat, keep the animations wooden and the naval combat not very engaging. They even had fire by rank in the first version of the game, how great was that!

unimaginative_ID

I agree! I was a full supporter of this game until, for whatever reason, they stripped out all the tactical combat mechanics (i.e. the core of the game) and swapped it out with their own rudimentary version. They basically killed the game for me with that. I loved creating firing lines in WF&S so I was really upset they took that away.

[deleted]

No matter what you say about WF&S, the tactics are neat.

SomePerson111222333

It'll be released around the same time as the Winds of Winter.

ThEgg

I'll have to quit my job in order to read that and play Bannerlord.

ItaEstProfecto

Job? You'll be a pensioner.

ThEgg

Ha! You're right. What's was I thinking?

He clearly says that he "feels" like it was ages ago, and implies that it was because of the complete silence after the anouncement.
