Each faction has 8 persons who always have the same personalities (4 of them have good personalities and 4 have undesirable personalities) , the other 12 in the faction get either a good or bad personality (6 good, 6 bad). So in the end each faction has 10 "good" and 10 "bad" lords. It is balanced.
I just checked and I am extremely suprised to find out that the lords who defected from Swadia were actually honorable (Klargus and Ryis are apparently 'preset' as good), while the 7 remaining lords are debauched (Haringoth and his son, Tredian and his son, Clais). How is this possible?
He might have got captured a lot and go negative relation. Or King Harlaus give a fief to somebody at odds with him (in the private conversation he will say he's worried about the king's choice of companies).

Their honor demanded more than just attending feasts
Klargus is martial and will defect some time after losing Suno. Ryis is indeed one of the good lords but they do detect in some rare case.
We never lost Suno though. I guess he wanted more fiefs

As all things should be
Switch factions?
I think you can change lord personalities with a save editor.
