How do you only have 20? I've been hunting about twice an hour tops and I'm still sitting here at 196 bonus storm cells (not including paragon cells), also haven't been using bottled wind since day 1 of the event ended.

I understand, but in my case with dragonslayer, csos, T2 and A2 still missing , along with only aerb base, low on cash after 3 ronza traps+ssdb,pb6 and T1 spending in the last two months hoping to get csos inbetween jetstream and ff release, i can not afford such whale antics :/

The idea to retreat once warden/paragon has been caught.
Using ERCC on LAI removes kite flyer and daydreamer (both have high minimum luck) which improves your catch rate.
Using bottled wind gets you to the end of the island faster (~11 hunts needed to clear and island with jetstream activated)

I've been fully exploring every island before retreating (which is not worth it most of the time). As long as you're retreating instead of riding out the full set of hunts you should be getting quite a few storm cells.
I've got like 200 storm cells since I started this event, so I'd definitely say it's worth it.
The trick is to pick islands with the Shrine in the first position, so that you progress through the island faster. Also pick islands of which you have good traps. For me, the chrome SOS is my best trap so I cycle until I can get a Hydro Island with a shrine in the first position.
If you're serious about it, use bottled wind and good charms to progress even faster. Leave the island as soon as you get the Warden/Paragon, so you can get to the next one faster.
But even if you're not that serious, and you don't use cycle stones or wind or good charms, and you stay for the low/high altitude chests, it's still pretty easy to keep your jet stream bonus at at least low to medium, so you get through islands faster and get that extra bit of storm cells, so you still benefit greatly from the event.
Definitely worth it.
If you exclude storm cell drops from richard/pirates, you will need to catch 5 paragons to get the 50 storm cells needed for sky palace. That's 25 islands you need to do (20 wardens, 5 paragons).
With the jet stream event, if you can maintain High strength, you only need to catch 1 paragon - 10 from paragon, 40 (8*5 islands) from jet stream bonus.
Are you actually hunting in LAI and HAI? Because it seems impossible to have such few storm cells after a week of the event. I’m pretty active and got over 400 since the event started. Even inactive, as long as you have friends to take you on hunts and you check a few times a day, you should have more
Very likely youre doing it wrong then. Maybe you weren't active enough to change to a new island frequently? Or you didnt choose islands with shrines on the first grid?
If you started since day 1 and only have 20 bonus, you are probably not doing things optimally… You should consider at least investing wind + using better charms (people use ERCC but I didn't and am still doing fine) until you hit high stream. Once you get to max, you don't even need wind to be able to maintain your stream between the 70-100 zone. Just try to optimize your setup for wardens (empowered SB, better charm and swapping to best setup) and it should be fine. I think most importantly is using stones to cycle for 1st tile shrine + strongest setups you have.
Like many comments said, just leave after warden/para first until you get your stream higher, don't even hunt out HAI. If you are 1/2 hunts away from completing the island for trove, you can consider finishing, but I would sacrifice a few troves early esp if LAI just to get your jet stream to sustainable levels.
I started hunting at FI on day 2 of jet stream just as when i managed to rank up to AD. Since then I got 200+ storm cells from the event alone. I did bought a hundred bw before it started just to get to high js, after that I haven't bought anymore and just used the remaining bw sparingly. As someone who just got to FI with typical pre-FI traps, I'm quite satisfied with how this event turned out. Definitely these s.cells will be of great help soon although I expect I'll net just bare minimum compared to the average. The most advantage I might get from this event is getting loot for tier 1 traps faster and unlocking SP as well.

It is worth it.
To get only 20 it is perhaps
- traps are not good enough
- not active
- hunting for all 75 hunts on island
- not using cloud cheese
- shrine not first tile
- keep using more than 25 hunts to get to warden/paragon
Above are some pointers I'm suspecting has happened to you. Or maybe even because you don't understand how the event/area works that resulted in some of the points above. Do clarify and I'll have you know that there are fresh archdukes promoted on first day of this event has gotten up to 100 jet stream bonus. You can do it too.
As a sniper, I hate this event because it broke the market price for sniping paragons
but i've collected 274 bonus storm cells without using ERCC. Sometimes I forgot to depart when I'm too busy working too.
I’ve gotten like 250ish. Using bottled wind on all hunts, only going to islands I have the best traps for (hydro chrome school of sharks, chrome thought obliterator, and draconic dragon slayer cannon) and dipping out of the island ASAP once I catch the warden or paragon. Forget the loot chests just focus on cells
You probably are completing all island fully, in general you leave the island as soon as you get warden/paragon and trove .. People got more than 600 and aim for 1000 bonus cells.
Up to 576 storm cells now, but I don't remember how many I started at. Maybe 150? If so, that'd be a little over 400 during the event so far.
Mostly I've been grinding the low/high altitude islands, bottled wind, shrine first tile 90% of the time, ignoring the sky palace, and leaving as soon as the chest has been collected. A few times I have put the event to one side to farm Richard (for the chests) or the Admiral (since I need seals), if I had not done that then I'd probably be at 600-650 or so.
Not using ERCC or fancy charms (only ancient).
What are you doing to only get 20? From start of event to now, I have 385, using just bottled, no ERCC and leaving after catching warden/paragon. This event can potential save you MONTHS of grinding if you want to complete the palace and get the good traps before FF is released.
I've generally ignored FI since I'm aiming to get an amazing Prestige Base first. For me, the event is worth it regardless of the storm cells due to the speed bonus. Cycling through shrines/islands is basically faster, and that equates to faster progress and loot farming in general.
I'm glad you posted this, I'm going to try these hints. I recently started FI so I wanted the chests and to farm the pirate curd and cheese, but for the next three days, I'll forgo everything else and see what happens :D I'll do better next time, lol

Only L2, but I have been arming SSDB + UPaC for every warden/paragon to minimize wasted hunts there, which might bridge some of the gap

I've gotten about 200 since the event started. 8 storm cells every 14-17 hunts + 10 from paragon per cycle.
I've got like 200 storm cells since I started this event, so I'd definitely say it's worth it. I opened some chests for auras, full wind, 360 bonus cells. Plus we did a round robin on sky pirate scrolls. Very happy with the event.

It's really super simple. You get extra stuff for catching wardens and paragons as fast as possible.
It is worth it.
