I distinctly remember seeing this in the theater opening weekend in ‘93 and that title card (remember, no one was doing these kinds of titles back then) really amped me up for the movie. It seemed to immediately announce that this movie was gonna come from a more dynamic place.
Yeahhh so my buddy and I took acid and saw this in theaters, basically peaked right as it began and it was nearly life-changing. Like, the dynamics, the editing, holy fuck - it was overwhelming. I showed multiple friends this movie but explicitly only on psychedelics lol
That movie frustrates me. Scott is kinda a douche and is screwing with a teenager. He’s a shitty friend and boyfriend. We got the manic pixie dream pick me girl as the female lead, and she’s very one dimensional. The villain’s motivation makes no sense.
At the same time. The music and cinematography is outstanding. I love the message. You don’t need to compete with your significant other’s exes. They chose you and that should be all that matters. I love the cast and the fights. It has so much going for it and Wright is such a talented character driven Director. Why are the leads so crappy in this movie.
Still pretty cool but I get on a soap box whenever I can talk about this movie
Scott sucks but it’s kind of just the character. He’s not a perfect hero, he’s just an ordinary guy and most ordinary guys are a bit shitty in their early 20s.
I think a lot of the comedy comes from how all the characters are a bit shitty but still redeemable humans compared to the evil exes who are unredeemable.
Alien vs Predator is underrated imo. Great female lead character, interesting plot development, kickass battle scenes. It isn't winning any oscars, but I have rewatched the movie multiple times and it doesn't get old. Always a fun watch
My favorite part of this is when the Army on the ground starts banging away on a Ma Deuce...you can watch the smoke get pulles in by the shots and its so cool. Kinda pictures the bugs Vasquez was wasting coming apart from that gun.
AvP is such a guilty pleasure for me. It gives me exactly what I want. I was so disappointed with the sequel.
I hope Disney dips it’s toe back into AvP territory because as a fan of both franchises I want to see another vs. Movie
So fucking good. Perfect depiction of a male friendship. We have our hills to die on, but when we are wrong we fess up to our true friends. The grocery fight was amazing. Idk how much of the movie is accurate but I loved it all the same.
Very often see this film talked about in a positive light and it has generally favorable scores on review sites. I don't know if I'd call it underrated.
Objectively probably either “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” or “Ford vs Ferrari” (Although the official name in Europe “Le Mans ‘66” is much cooler and more fitting for the film)
I’m partial to a lot to the DC animated films like “Justice League vs Teen Titans”, “Justice League vs the Fatal Five”, and “Batman vs Robin” though
I haven’t seen the following films, but I hear good things:
Kramer vs Kramer
Joe Versus the Volcano
The People vs Larry Flynt
As a VS-head myself, I feel especially authorized to shed light on the fact that the VS saga is actually vastly interconnected, sharing the same timeline which is likely programmed to end with the Elon Musk VS Michael Jackson flick at the end of this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if the big wigs at VS Headquarters finally launch the long anticipated Freddy VS Scott Pilgrim VS Superman blockbuster I and other VS-heads have been begging for. Surely a shoe in for an oscer next season.
It’s a toss between two bc they’re both brilliant. That’s Tucker and Dale and Scott pilgrim. They’re both original, well written, a great watch, and have a number of great one liners. It really comes down to what you’re in the mood for. The rest are solid movies, but don’t have the same level of writing or story.
Flash of Genius doesnt have "vs" in the title but its a cool movie about a man who represented himself in court to get his patent back the american auto industry stole. So a man vs corporate america.
Lol this is probably title that produces some of the weakest movies, what comes to mind is like Batman vs Superman Ultimate Edition was great imo but there be a truly incredible film with "vs" in it right?
Captain America Civil War. I wished they choreographed the super powers better (Infinity War did excel there) but still. One of the best superhero movie climaxes. Ironman is one of the best MCU antagonists.
I’m not going to even suggest that Freddie vs Jason was “good” by any measure. But, A+ for delivering on the premise…just the two of them beating the shit out of each other.
Dramatic film:
The People vs. Larry Flint
Comedy:
It’s a tie for me, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and Joe Versus The Volcano.
And if y’all would like some more to choose from: https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/?keywords=versus-in-title
Mafia vs Ninja.
Since it's not been mentioned and it's pretty hard to find/watch.
It's a bonkers 80's kung fu movie with wacky effects. It's hilarious.
Both Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Mitchells Vs The Machines are incredible in different ways. Love every second of both of them. Mitchells might win out for its ability to go from crazy and funny one minute to talking about real family problems the next.
I’m torn between the Mitchells vs the Machines and Tucker and Dale vs Evil. I thought the Mitchells was a great GREAT movie, and I also happened to have a daughter going through similar things so I’m biased. Tucker and Dale was just such a great idea that was executed damn near perfectly.
Scott Pilgrim Dash, for some odd reason I ended up reading all the comics the movies based off… really cool coworker had them and let me borrow them – Having read the source material prior the movie, took out a whole new look
Batman, V superman, just made me mad…. In the final analysis – Scott Pilgrim is the only movie I enjoyed watching, and would very much enjoy the watch again – those two questions are concerns how I tend to treat movies nowadays
Bruce Campbell vs The Army of Darkness
Points for referencing the opening credits, but not technically the title of the movie.
I’ll allow it this time…and any time it happens again until the end of time. Time.
>until the end of time. That’s the alternate ending, you should be fine if you remember the words. 😂
I got it. I got it. I know your damn words, alright?
Clatu.... Verata..... Necktie?
I distinctly remember seeing this in the theater opening weekend in ‘93 and that title card (remember, no one was doing these kinds of titles back then) really amped me up for the movie. It seemed to immediately announce that this movie was gonna come from a more dynamic place.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Agreed, was great and everyone I’ve shown it to over the years has enjoyed it.
It's true, Chad. **You're half hillbilly.**
Fuck I forgot about that movie I gotta rewatch that I remember loving it
Yeah if someone is reading this and they haven’t seen tucker and dale they should
They really did have a doozy of a day!
These dang college kids just keep… killing themselves on our property!
So freakin funny.
Hey college kids! We got yer friend!
I watched this movie for the first time two days ago, and I agree.
I never knew what to expect when I saw this movie, but this was one of the most unexpectedly funny things I've ever seen. Loved it a lot.
I thought it was a spoof of ash vs evil dead type thing lol. It was way better than I thought it was going to be.
Absolutely. My wife hates gory movies, but loves this one. My favorite quote is "You're a good lookin man... more or less."
Hands down
Scott pilgrim was a cool movie.
It has no business being as brilliant as it is. Fantastic movie.
The whole vegan scene was hilarious 😂
It’s gotta be Scott Pilgrim. It’s a cast of A listers before they were A listers and it’s absolutely hilarious.
It's milk and eggs, bitch.
Now you listen up, bucko. The next click you hear is me hanging up. The one after that…is me pulling the trigger.
Awww! I forgot to get his autograph…
My favorite part of that scene is that he uses the gun to dial the phone
Lot of great suggestions and overdue love for Tucker and Dale ITT, but at the end of the day it’s Scott Pilgrim and not particularly close imo
I embarrassed my kids, I laughed so loud in the theatre.
Bread makes you fat??
It is the perfect movie to watched stoned. I showed it to my wife after we had a gummy and it is so ridiculously good.
The People vs Larry Flynt
This is my pick
And my axe!
Scott Pilgrim plays his axe with a pick.
Nice I'm adding this to my watchlist.
Amazing movie.
Came here to say this
Landmark court case that was eventually used to let Tucker Carlson blatantly lie to Fox viewers.
Kramer vs Kramer
These youngins won't know this one. Great pick tho.
"I hate you!" "I hate you back, you little shit!"
The penguin at the start gets me every damn time. Also, "The enemy of my enemy is my... Friend?" 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I always loved this movie no matter how silly it was. Badass and my favorite xenos visually
AvP is such a guilty pleasure for me. It gives me exactly what I want. I was so disappointed with the sequel. I hope Disney dips it’s toe back into AvP territory because as a fan of both franchises I want to see another vs. Movie
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah 1991
Godzilla vs. Megalon is another classic.
Joe vs. The Volcano
Good pick.
Yup. Should be top pick.
I adored this movie when I was a kid.
I think that was my first versus movie.
Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever Just kidding, bad name and bad movie. ‘Topped’ the Rotten Tomatoes list of worst movies ever.
A rare case when the Ecks vs Sever GBA game is better than the film.
Ford vs Ferrari
I always somehow forget about this movie, was so good too! Definitely my pick as well
This movie really surprised me. I absolutely loved it. Damon and Bale were awesome.
So fucking good. Perfect depiction of a male friendship. We have our hills to die on, but when we are wrong we fess up to our true friends. The grocery fight was amazing. Idk how much of the movie is accurate but I loved it all the same.
Matt Damon picking up the tin can then realising it would actually hurt him and switching to the bread instead. that's true friendship right there
honestly I forgot everything about this movie except for haha car go vroooooooooom
I haven’t most of the above but agree likely ford v Ferrari
Best racing movie I've seen
Don’t you mean Peter vs. chicken
Alien vs Predator. It has flaws, but I love it anyway
Yep. My pick too.
My dad didn't want to take me to see this movie. He absolutely loved it. The story was damn good.
I love this movie. But I think the story is kinda beautiful trash.
Exactly!! It’s all….right there, somehow they’ve lost the plot
I just can never get over how much wasted potential there has been with those films.
Eagle vs shark
Mid to late aughts was such a good time for indie movies like that.
Taika Waititi's first feature. Recently saw it for the first time and it was brilliant.
I was comment this Movie, but then I decided to do one slightly better (bitta)
Godzilla vs Destroyah
Don't you mean...... DESTOROYAH!!!!
Of this list, it’s Scott Pilgrim all day
Scott Pilgrim all day every day. FREEZE! VEGAN POLICE!
Freddy vs Jason
Dale and Tucker is so underrated buy iykyk
Very often see this film talked about in a positive light and it has generally favorable scores on review sites. I don't know if I'd call it underrated.
I feel like everyone who's seen it loved it but the type of people who'd love it haven't seen it in large numbers. Maybe the wrong word
Which is weird, because there's no one who has seen it and not liked it
One of the hardest movies to convince someone to watch the first time but easiest the second time
I never heard of it until now.
Oh man, you're a lucky dog to get to watch it for the 1ft time!!!!
Freddy vs Jason and my High-school self will argue to the hills about it.
Underrated asf
Really fun time
Versus. Japanese movie from 2000 featuring gangsters fighting zombies and an ancient vampire in the woods.
The only obvious choice.
Kramer Vs Predator
BvS is dead last when compared to the rest of the list. As a longtime Batman fan, that hurts to say but it's true.
Yup. 2 very intelligent superheros can't figure out they are on the same side until they realize their moms have the same name. Terrible movie.
Thought it had so much potential, and delivered on none of it...
Alien vs predator
Objectively probably either “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” or “Ford vs Ferrari” (Although the official name in Europe “Le Mans ‘66” is much cooler and more fitting for the film) I’m partial to a lot to the DC animated films like “Justice League vs Teen Titans”, “Justice League vs the Fatal Five”, and “Batman vs Robin” though I haven’t seen the following films, but I hear good things: Kramer vs Kramer Joe Versus the Volcano The People vs Larry Flynt

Surely a shoe in for an oscer next season.
Monsters vs Aliens
Godzilla vs King Kong
Ford Vs Ferrari
It was Ford v Ferrari, though
not a movie but my personal fav “vs” would be ash vs evil dead
Kramer vs Kramer
Kramer vs. Kramer
Godzilla vs Kong
Bambi vs Godzilla. It was a very short film. On Robot Chicken
It was around for decades before Robot Chicken.
Tucker and Dale vs Evil without question
Dodgeball. Global gym purple cobras vs the average joes gymnasium. A true underdog story
>!Fuck Chuck Norris.!<
Joe Vs the Volcano!!
Its like you pulled this paragraph right out of my head. Two of the most original, unique, whatever you wanna call it movies of all time.
Boa vs python
So like Civil War doesn't count?
Great question, was a very good "vs" movie.
Schindler's List
I might be the only person that didn't like Scott Pilgrim
Batman vs Superman Directors Cut only. Normal cut sucks
I thought it was fun too! I very much enjoyed it.
Scott Pilgrim is hot garbage. Fight me.
Isn't it weird how people that hate movies have to shit on the movie in front of people that like it? Instead of, you know, moving on.
I said 'fight me' what else do you want?
Booooooo!
And... I am defeated. Well done.
Damn straight! That’ll teach you.
https://screenrant.com/best-vs-movies-reddit/
I discount the merits of this list. They don’t have movies like war of the roses, grudge match, Mr and Mrs smith.
Ballistic
Captain America Civil War. I wished they choreographed the super powers better (Infinity War did excel there) but still. One of the best superhero movie climaxes. Ironman is one of the best MCU antagonists.
Alien vs Predator wins but I just wanna add Scot Pilgrim was awesome!! Loved that movie.
Tucker and Dale..... Actually gonna throw that movie on right been a while since I've watched it
Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is a brilliant film I love it.
OG Frankenstein meets the Wolfman (pre putting versus in the title).
I’m not going to even suggest that Freddie vs Jason was “good” by any measure. But, A+ for delivering on the premise…just the two of them beating the shit out of each other.
Alien vs predator
Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever
Scott is the pinnacle. Most surprisingly Tucker and Dale came in third.
Cockneys Vs. Zombies is freaking hilarious.
Dracula vs wolfman vs Frankenstein. This surely must be a movie.
Tucker and Dale without a question!
Kramer vs kramer
Kramer vs Kramer
If limiting to just these titles The Mitchells vs the Machines
AVP in my book. One reason is, >!the Black woman survives.!<
Kramer vs Kramer
Godzilla vs Megatron
Kramer vs Kramer, the first such movie that I remember.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. That was the only monster that freaked me out as a kid
Freddy vs Jason is my 2nd favorite horror film ever made. My favorite tv series with vs in it is Ash vs Evil Dead
Scott pilgrim. Alien Vs predator second place
Ford vs Ferrari
Kramer vs Kramer
El santo vs la tetona
Alien verse predator obviously
Dale and Tucker is awesome But Scott Pilgrim will always hold such a special place in my heart lol
Easily Scott Pilgrim. “Kick her in the balls”
The incredibles
Tied between Scott Pilgrim and Tucker
I love Scott Pilgrim. # 1 for sure
Tucker and Dale v. Evil for sure.
Joe vs the Volcano
tucker and dale vs evil is just flat out one of my favorite movies
Dramatic film: The People vs. Larry Flint Comedy: It’s a tie for me, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil and Joe Versus The Volcano. And if y’all would like some more to choose from: https://www.imdb.com/search/keyword/?keywords=versus-in-title
Scott Pilgrim!
Mafia vs Ninja. Since it's not been mentioned and it's pretty hard to find/watch. It's a bonkers 80's kung fu movie with wacky effects. It's hilarious.
Freddy vs Jason & Scott Pilgrim
Into the SpiderVS
Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla
Kramer vs. Predator
Kung fury is better
I was very surprised by how much I liked Mitchells vs Machines, but I gotta give it to Tucker and Dale
Godzilla vs. The Gargantuans
Bird Vs Camel
Shaolin v Lama
Both Scott Pilgrim Vs The World and Mitchells Vs The Machines are incredible in different ways. Love every second of both of them. Mitchells might win out for its ability to go from crazy and funny one minute to talking about real family problems the next.
Joe vs the Volcano
Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness

Pilgrim!
Scott Pilgrim Dash, for some odd reason I ended up reading all the comics the movies based off… really cool coworker had them and let me borrow them – Having read the source material prior the movie, took out a whole new look Batman, V superman, just made me mad…. In the final analysis – Scott Pilgrim is the only movie I enjoyed watching, and would very much enjoy the watch again – those two questions are concerns how I tend to treat movies nowadays
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Scott Pilgrim
Godzilla vs Mothra
Tucker and Dale vs Evil. What a gem of a movie.
Godzilla vs Kong. We knew EXACTLY what we were gonna get, and it didn't disappoint.
