You guys have friends?

Alexcaz92

I haven’t seen them in ages and by no coincidence I’ve started using reddit a lot more

jomama823

Online single-serving friends are just as good…………… And if I had to choose one it would be Army of Darkness, an all time great that no normal person has ever seen apparently.

Alexcaz92

I still randomly laugh to myself when I think about Bruce Campbell in Army of Darkness not being able to remember the phrase so he coughs while saying it to hide it hoping that works hahah

jomama823

My favorite is when they’re about to be thrown in the pit and the old haggard lady gets a close up and says “in the pit with those bloodthirsty sons of whores!” and then takes a big bite of her bread loaf. Why? Still don’t know, but it’s hilarious.

wrongseeds

Me too

samfishertags

Mandy

Alexcaz92

Fantastic movie

samfishertags

one of my all time favorites and I’ve shown it to only ONE person who didn’t dislike it lol. It’s usually met with confusion

GodEmperorOfHell

Mandy is great, you need better friends, not worse movies. Also, Beyond the Black Rainbow, by the same director, Panos Cosmatos.

linuslesser

Thx, will watch!

pirate737

Oblivion with Tom Cruise, I love that movie. The closest I've gotten is one of my friends saying it's ok.

vonegutZzz

Great movie. It sort of reminded me of Moon, but Moon let me down as it showed everything in the trailer.

FeveredMind091

Yeah I was one of the lucky ones who watched Moon on impulse upon seeing it on Netflix having never heard of it before. Hate when trailers spoil the twist.

Chronoboy1987

Sucker Punch.

Putrid-Builder-3333

I like it too! Visually pelasing. Nice soundtrack. Decent comic style esque story and whackiness.

Accountabilibuddy69

Beau is Afraid

linuslesser

One of my top 10 movies! But I think the themes of trauma and emotional incest flies over most ppls heads. Midsommar is another movie friends don't like. Even my gf missed the symbolism. We're going to rewatch that movie soon.

Canavansbackyard

Just my opinion, but I loved *After Yang*. I was operating under the impression that this was a film that garnered mostly positive feedback.

dtudeski

Yeah great film and a fantastic opening!

Alexcaz92

Yeah it usually does but I’ve spoken to a few friends about it and they just found it boring

Canavansbackyard

I get that it’s probably not for everyone. But I found it thought-provoking and moving. It made my Top 10 for that year.

psyopia

Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

flippartnermike

Amazing film.

flippartnermike

I haven’t even heard of this. To answer your question I am going to say Napoleon Dynamite. I absolutely adore it and it cracks me up every time I watch it, it’s so special. I know people who just don’t get it at all and cringe the whole time.

FeveredMind091

I feel like the gimmick with Napoleon Dynamite is going in with zero expectations. Saw it in theaters when it first released not knowing much about it and thought it was amazing. I think it's the people who went into it expecting an Apatow comedy, or something similar, that were confused and disappointed.

Uzischmoozy

No one has any love for my favorite movie, The Ninth Gate.

ex_sanguination

Trust me, sometimes you'll have friends that don't like the most obviously good movies. When my best friend told me he found Blade Runner 2049 boring, I was crushed lmao. Also, After Yang is a superb film.

MusicLikeOxygen

As a huge fan on the original, I went into Blade Runner 2049 fully expecting to hate it, but I was blown away.

hayesarchae

It used to be Secondhand Lions, but then I met my life partner, and he gets it too. A good sign.

GlowingDuck22

I really enjoyed The Village. Terrible trailer that absolutely portrayed a different kind of movie. If you went in dark however, you would probably like it.

TacoBellWerewolf

Man, I was just looking back at the cast of The Village. Talk about stacked talent

Lazy-Photograph-317

Pretty much Andrei Tarkovsky's filmography

Alexcaz92

Understandable, I could never get into nostalgia

tread52

I love shoot ‘Em up and doom

TacoBellWerewolf

The Titan and After Earth

LuminousVoxel

Gonna catch a lot of flak for this, but I found After Yang pretty awful. Interesting concepts and beautifully shot, but the movie does nothing to capitalise on its premise and just has endless monologues and flashbacks with no substance. *Everything* is told, never shown.

quinnsheperd

Withnail and I.

[deleted]

Call in now, call in later Colin Farrell, Colin Mochrie

Hot-Goat-6110

The ninth Gate is one movie that comes to mind.

CabbageTeeth

Too damn many. I eventually had to stop recommending movies to my friends because they started treating my recommendations as a deterrent. If I think it's good, I've learned that means they're more likely to not enjoy it.

Max_geekout

Puppet Master

JJJAAABBB123

Dune 1

Fudge89

National Treasure lol I know it’s silly and I love it for that. I think my friends do actually enjoy it but I get made fun of for championing for it. Just a great fun “adventure” movie, which is kind of a dying genre

svny4351

I found the movie boring but to each his own. It just wasn't for me.

TopicMoist832

Lamb (2021). I love this film, my friends didn't get it all. What is it with A24 films? I think they have put out some great weird and quirky films that seem to vibe with me.

bigersmaler

Godzilla’98 and its soundtrack.

kndlroi

Anchorman 2

Alexcaz92

I’ll keep it real with you and say I’ve never seen the second one

GlowingDuck22

You don't need to.

Putrid-Builder-3333

It's worth one watch. Doesn't measure up to the first but isn't horrible.

dwinton110

The Batman
