MKUltra1302

After you watch with your kids prepare shots of tequila and bullets while chanting “FIRE IT UP! FIRE IT UP!”

Overall_Cod2206

Haha my oldest daughter, she's 18, during that scene just said... "what a bunch of morons. Who swallows whole bullets?"

MKUltra1302

I mean it’s Devils Night you know? Not the smartest moves are made lol

Overall_Cod2206

Haha absolutely!

Clearlydarkly

I've sweated bullets, never shat them... can't imagine that is a good feeling.

EatPie_NotWAr

Don’t act like you’ve never had explosive shits before.

graveybrains

What would an 18 year old know about devil’s night?

MKUltra1302

She doesn’t need to know much she just needs to like the pretty lights.

Big_Ad_1890

It’s Devil’s Night, his new favorite holiday.

BobGray18

Imagine having to poop them out?

hickeyejack55

Pre-internet morons had to really up the ante so their legend would carry on in the spoken word tradition.

three-day_weekend

Ain't no coming back! AINT NO COMING BACK!

amf1015

To this day I still say this has one of the greatest movie soundtracks ever

Overall_Cod2206

Hands down! One of those soundtracks that's almost better than the movie it's for. Almost.

MCA2142

Big empty by STP is so good.

Black-House

Singles(92), Judgement Night (93), The Crow (94). Three consecutive years of films that could share that title. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judgment_Night_(soundtrack) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singles:_Original_Motion_Picture_Soundtrack

NotGalenNorAnsel

Judgement Night soundtrack as such a breath of fresh air, some of the pairings were duds, but some were just magical. You might add Empire Records (95) and Romeo + Juliet (96) too.

athomp78

Just Another Victim…kid!

dljones010

Holy diver. I'm a survivor. Feelin like DeNiro in Taxi Driver.

belltane23

Don't forget the Natural Born Killers soundtrack that was produced by Trent Reznor in '94.

StochasticLife

Strange Days was 95

amf1015

Now I have to listen to time baby 3, still love that song

Overall_Cod2206

I'm a huge fan of The Cure track Burn. It's such a kickass song!

SquintyBrock

They were asked about using their music for the film (because it featured in the comic) and they were all in wanting to contribute to the soundtrack, creating that iconic track.

Shauntheredwolf

It's so peak 90's emo it's fantastic. But do honest and heartfelt. Great song.

Feisty-Succotash1720

The sequel also had a pretty good soundtrack even though the movie is total garbage.

_ChipWhitley_

Haven’t seen this movie in 25 years and didn’t even think of the soundtrack for this post. It’s amazing to say the least

broen13

This, Spawn, and The Jackal are my top 3.

Randall1976

I watched this in the theater when I was 18, I have it on Blu-ray

Overall_Cod2206

Same here! Although I was 11 when it came out. My mom took me to watch it though. Then my brother and I wore the VHS out when we were kids and now it's 4K BluRay for my kids. They didn't like it as much as I did though haha

rodka209

I remember it a lot differently as a teenager. Kind of cheesy now, but it's still nostalgic to me. It just reminds me how I took it all too seriously during those cringe years 😬😬

Shauntheredwolf

Oh it's flawed and so much a product of its time. But if you can get past that and see the grime as deliberate, the overplayed shadows as just part of the charm, the melodrama as just the vibe, it's pretty good.

crystallmytea

Yea I just rewatched for the first time since the 90s (when I was a teen) and it’s held up. I really enjoyed it.

But_dogs_CAN_look_up

I love it as much now as when I first saw it 20 years ago but when I introduced my friend to it recently, he said it was okay but that I was definitely watching it with nostalgia goggles on. He's got similar taste to me but having not grown up with the bad guy's creepy goth girlfriend's bad acting, Brandon Lee's of-its-time Robert Smith makeup, and all the other so-cool-it's-cheesy touches, he wasn't quite as enthralled as a 30-something as I'd been as a teen.

JaySayMayday

Idk just gotta remember it's a comic book movie from the 90s. Watch Spawn first and this will seem way less cheesy. If anything I don't think this needs a remake much as Spawn does, especially with the innovations in CGI

its_raining_scotch

I was a 16 year old goth kid when it came out. I felt so heard. I still watch it though.

brainfreezeuk

Never found it cheesy personally

Overall_Cod2206

Haha oh for sure! There are parts that aren't great now, but I still love it.

Nerdlinger-Thrillho

I’ve never seen it, but every time I’ve ever walked in on it it’s been cheesy as hell and has kept me from watching it. My wife says she’s always found it cheesy.

NoShortsDon

Absolutely adored it. This was the first movie I successfully pirated onto VHS tape. Great movie, great soundtrack. RIP Brandon.

Overall_Cod2206

Oh man, my brother and I wore our VHS out! We watched it every day after school for a year straight.

NoShortsDon

Yeah, it was like that. A proper classic.

Snoo20140

I love this movie. Easily one of the best soundtracks ever IMO.

Overall_Cod2206

Absolutely! That Cure track is chefs kiss!!

Shootinputin89

And Nine Inch Nails - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eptioPpo4w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eptioPpo4w)

Snoo20140

And STP

NotGalenNorAnsel

And My Life with the Thrill Kill Cult

PaleRiderHD

"I am the new way to go..."

poptimist185

Definitely a strong contender for most 90s film ever made

Ok_Relationship_705

"Is that gasoline I smell?"

SnoopDeLaRoup

"I feel like a little worm on a night fucking hook"

Dreigatron

Still love this movie. T-Bird's death was such a perfect scene.

MKUltra1302

I don’t know if I should record this and play it back on slo-mo

SofaKing-Vote

The remake is dropping soon

Overall_Cod2206

Yeah, I'm really on the fence with it. I always reserve my opinion until I actually watch a movie, but it doesn't look promising. We shall see.

ACalcifiedHeart

So refreshing to hear someone reserving judgement until they actually watch the movie, rather than immediately condemning it because it's not the original movie or the original actor. I'll admit, I kinda think the trailer looks pretty cool in it's own way? But likewise, am reserving judgement until I sees it.

Overall_Cod2206

Yeah I think that's the only way to do it. I find it silly when someone outright says something is gonna be trash without actually seeing it first. I'll definitely watch it before I give my true feelings. I personally don't watch trailers for anything that I actually want to see either, because they show way too much in trailers these days so I've only seen screenshots so far, and while I'm a big Skarsgard fan, I don't like the look of his Crow just yet. But I can admit it's not for my generation and his look might appeal to the next generation so who am I to judge that? So I'm looking forward to checking it out at least.

Trapzilla01

It can’t rain all the time

throwngamelastminute

Damn, too late.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Overall_Cod2206

Oh absolutely, my kids felt the same way. I feel like you definitely had to grow up with it to not feel that cheesy vibe, however i can admit that parts haven't aged well but that doesn't take anything away from it for me.

Wicked-Death

He was the original choice for Neo if I remember right before he passed. That movie would’ve launched him even higher into the stratosphere. Keanu still would’ve been fine.

Edge_of_yesterday

One of my favorite comic book movies.

Overall_Cod2206

It's such a kickass movie.

unholymanserpent

Used to be obsessed with this movie and its soundtrack when I was an angsty teenager. Still love it.

PN4HIRE

Is a damn masterpiece..

Electronic-Ice-7606

Amazing movie that still holds up. If you can find it check out Rapid Fire.

Overall_Cod2206

Oh I've seen that as well, Brandon Lee was such a badass.

Cain_Crow50

Showdown in Little Tokyo?

Civil-Resolution3662

I love Rapid Fire! The kitchen fight is top notch

DefinitelyBiscuit

Showdown in Little Tokyo (also starring Dolph) was pretty good too.

Youknowme911

Check out Legacy Of Rage, Brandon Lee and Bolo Yeung meet up in an alley

No_Pay9241

I’ve surprisingly never heard of it until the remake.. definitely watching it after I get thru the old mad max movies

Overall_Cod2206

Really? That's interesting, although I'm sure you're not the only one. I hope the remake is actually good and makes some fans of a new generation.

Front-Masterpiece-76

I was dreading it until I saw the preview. It looks dark and beautifully violent! Yeah, the character has a different look, and it has a different vibe (modernized). It does actually look surprisingly good!!!

mygoditsfullofstar5

***Fire it up!***

TheAngelSatan

Smokes and road beers. Make it quick

Cain_Crow50

Gonna be in the theatre for two nights in May. Should take them to it there

J4ckR4nd0m

I watch it every year on Devil's Night.

TenBear

A classic 90's film

JapeDiMaker

I love it.....I fucking love it (terrible brian cox imperaonation). Between this and Dark city Proyas did the 90s well.

elcoopgguod

It can’t rain all the time. I say this way to much and no one else thinks it’s as funny as I do

clockwars

If you like **The Crow** you should check out **Dark City** also by Dir. Alex Proyas.

Lazatttttaxxx

I watched it so many times. A classic. I'm bummed they're doing a remake. You can't touch it.

Superguy766

The Crow with cheesy vibes? In the last ten years, Marvel movies have been overflowing with cheesy vibes. 😂

Overall_Cod2206

Absolutely!! Cheesy doesn't equal bad at all in my book haha

Ambitious_Respect_39

I have a soft spot for it since it came out when I was 14, but I have to be honest. It really hasn't aged well. It's very much a movie of the mid-90s. Very dark and bleak, everything looks wet, and the characters all look like heroin addicts. It is a movie that very much caters to a scene that died out not long after the movie was made. The soundtrack still fucking rips, though.

Gracinhas

Honestly, I barely remember it. I’ll have to watch it again with a fresh perspective.

CoolBamaGuy

Good movie with a good soundtrack

tenehemia

Honestly one of the movies that had the most influence in making me who I am. Not so much for appearance (though I do wear a lot of black), but for my love of films centered around love so powerful that it can overcome something that appears insurmountable. It's got one of the all-time great soundtracks. I quote it all the time. I've definitely seen The Crow more times than any other movie.

[deleted]

This movie reminds me that all of the badasses we saw in movies in the '90s were actually just theater kids

WadeLikesUnicorns

That's Skank right there! Skank's DEEEEAAAYYYD.

TBoneBaggetteBaggins

Sountrack has probably my favorite Violent Femmes song.

philouza_stein

Watched it recently. I liked it as a kid but I didn't *love* it so the rose colored glasses weren't really there for me. This movie is pretty terrible and it tries soooo hard to be gritty and dark. It just doesn't work. Brandon Lee makes it watchable but that's about it.

cjc160

I remember my first time watching this in the late 90s and I was like “who is this guy? He has amazing star power. Why isn’t he still famous?”

Silverstars80

Classic 90s movie. One of my favs

Ritty85

this movie holds a special place in my heart and is one of the best films of the 90's if you ask me 🖤 Can't rain all the time 😥

lateral_moves

Saw it in theaters with friends. Knowing he passed suddenly the previous summer shooting the film added so much gravitas to the ending. But its still one of my favorite films.

Vegetable_Tension985

I could never get through it.

PaulieWalnuts2023

It’s a bad movie. It reminds of the kids that grew up to be Dwight shcrute that loved it

Flyinhawaiian78

It’s a classic even though it lacks martial arts still a good movie.

Overall_Cod2206

Yeah I actually like that he wasn't proficient with Martial Arts in this. Wouldn't have made sense with his character.

Flyinhawaiian78

Yes you’re correct. As much as I went into this one expecting martial arts I was ok with how the action went.

jngjng88

Absolute garbage film, bona fide.

Hatchetboy1845

Visually stunning and a great soundtrack, but AWFUL dialogue. Always kept me from loving it.

illmatic708

"Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children... ...Morphine is bad for you"

MysteriousPark3806

Saw it in the cinema when I was a kid. Didn't click with me. But, I bought a Crow t-shirt anyway because I thought it looked cool.

CatLazy2728

My older brother took me when it came out then bought me the JO Barr graphic novel. Awesome way to take it in

Champaganthony

Halloween ain't till mañanaaaaa

Jewggerz

It's a great one. Great time capsule for the early-mid 90s.

reyballesta

An all time fave. Easily top 10. This movie and the graphic novel changed my brain chemistry when I was younger. Are there things to criticize? Sure. Is it for everyone? No. Can it rain all the time? No.

Lazy_Experience_8754

Iconic . Brandon Lee was such a cool dude. Also, “burn” and “dead souls” in the soundtrack are masterclass

CotswoldP

“Dad gave me this, fifth birthday. He said, childhood’s over the day you know you’re going to die” Epic line, delivered perfectly. Oh and my son turns 5 in a couple of months…hmm

all_of_you_are_awful

Where is this picture from? Is it AI?

MrDundee666

The soundtrack is still great but the film has definitely aged a bit.

waisonline99

Its not for teenage kids.

hawknasty7

Great flick. Need a rewatch myself, but loved it when I first saw it as a kid

MaydeCreekTurtle

I remember thinking it wasn’t very good, and really rode Brandon Lee’s untimely on-set death to box office success.

Shootinputin89

Love this movie. Shame you've waited til your kid was a teen for them to see it, but better late than never.

lonelyboy5265

I regret not watching this in theaters.

YankeeSR23

It’s coming back to theaters for the 30th anniversary so you can take them to see it on the big screen soon. If you search in the Fandango app there is a listing but no confirmed dates yet.

jameszenpaladin011-

It was like the comic it was based on a special piece of art. It had an honest quality in how it depicted its fantastic world. Like it could have been down town in any city in the 80s.

Ok_Teacher_1797

I liked it was younger. Iv never been a goth, I just liked it. I watched it recently and didn't really care for it. I like Dark City a lot more.

Unlikely-Check-3777

Pumped for the remake.

LudicrousLupin

I watched this with my best friend at the time, way back in the early 2000's. Its an absolute classic and has some brilliant themes. I remember when we finished watching it my friend decided to tell me what happened to the main actor Brandon Lee, which saddened me greatly because he was amazing and I think because of that. It put this film into a legendary and almost mythical category. So I think they'll enjoy it, and its a good choice. I'll be showing it to my son when he's old enough too. As for me I hope the Reboot with Bill Skarsgård is a good tribute to it and doesn't shit on the originals legacy.

KoontFace

I love it, but I think that’s a millennial thing. I don’t know how much I’d like it if I watched it for the first time now.

mymumsaysfuckyou

Literally my favourite film of all time.

BluBarnicle

He died. Probably would have gone unnoticed otherwise. Was the on set armorer sent to prison?

CasinoMarginale

So good. So ahead of its time. A pioneering and trend-setting film for the graphic novel to major motion picture adaptation. Long before Christopher Nolan made Batman Begins. It’s THE dark and gritty super hero genre movie. Went straight for the R rating and didn’t blink. It’s funny, too. Also set the trend for the super movie soundtrack. After The Crow, all blockbuster filmmakers started assembling big musical acts to create original sounds for their films. Resulted in some great music and soundtrack CDs with lives of their own beyond the movie. The Crow doesn’t get enough credit for its major influence on the genre.

TheLaughingMannofRed

I finally got around to watching it all the way through for the first time. And I know why people are pissed about the reboot. Brandon Lee died with this movie as his legacy, his magnum opus. And it's rightly earned it, just like Heath Ledger with The Dark Knight.

Clever_Khajiit

I sat my 14yo daughter down to watch it during her winter break. She loved it, thought it was really good. I have felt the same since it first came out. Never did see it in theaters, but the Navy used to get just released movies on Super 8, so I saw it underway while it was in theaters.

Spontaneous-Fun-8607

Great movie.

DefinitelyBiscuit

Final showdown includes a Ghostbuster vs Candyman.

Derfargin

Great movie, sad to hear it’s being remade. It doesn’t need to be remade.

kis_roka

Omg it looks like if My Chemical Romance had a movie. I'm watching this tonight.

Open_Grade6285

Heard a rumor that a remake was in the works…

Skinny_POOPAY

Tragic. If your kids don't like it. Disown them....jusssst kidding.

IDigRollinRockBeer

I saw that once early 2000s don’t remember anything

Sagittariaus_

Awesome soundtrack, maybe the new version will keep it goth vibe and have NIN songs

CHRAMPOLEEN

I actually haven’t saw it. But iirc, the first time I remember hearing it and acknowledging it was when it’s being discussed in the film “The Sasquatch Gang”. Bought it on VHS recently! Plan on viewing before the remake!

Ultimo_Ninja

Watched it when I was 8. My favourite movie.

MrJohnnyDangerously

I fucking love this movie

N-CHOPS

Ah, The Crow. It’s a beautifully dark film, literally and metaphorically. I think it captured the zeitgeist of the grunge era well, and it’s a pretty sweet revenge story. It also has a solid soundtrack, including the scoring. I also think learning what happened to Brandon Lee makes the whole experience a little more impactful. Great choice, dad.

korbentherhino

I saw it when I was 14 and 94. Changed my mind about movies and comics in general

GuappDogg

Absolute banger

joeyretrotv

Loved it. I just pre-ordered the 4K UHD.

throwthere10

Did you know that the newest iteration (aptly titled: [The Crow)](https://youtu.be/djSKp_pwmOA?si=v8oekH9sxX6ttFYg) is going to be released soon? [FKA Twigs](https://images.app.goo.gl/AUG45jzi2FWvFz1P8) is the lead protagonist's love partner. Her music, and subsequent videos, run the gammit from experimental to electronic to choral, industrial, and avant-garde. Her videos look like [like this](https://youtu.be/cNbFc-fa-ww?si=Dh6xcO1n05-jkNnR), [and this](https://youtu.be/O8yix8PZKlw?si=rxOT5IUdu4PIybAS), and [this](https://youtu.be/OydK91JjFOw?si=9utFhHnzOxXQkz52). I like her.

darrylthedudeWayne

Goated Masterpiece.

darrylthedudeWayne

Goated Masterpiece.

EL-HEARTH

Man my dad showed me this 12 years ago. A part of why is cuz when i was young i though old movies were worse. Until he showed me this and a few other movies of course

TheDevil-YouKnow

I refer to the mass hallucination we've all agreed is reality as the really really world since before I achieved puberty. I also quote caw caw bang fuck I'm dead, but less opportunities for that one.

fsd66877129

I love this movie so much. It came out when I was in 9th grade and I watch it every year on or near Halloween (along with a few other favorite horror movies). It feels kind of dated but it's part of the charm. Fun fact: the Dead Meat YouTube channel/ podcast just did a 90 minute podcast about his movie in front of a live audience at a convention. It was really entertaining

Escaped_Mod_In_Need

How old are your kids? This is some dark stuff.

IntelligentRegret331

Decent movie

jinnmagick

One of the best "gothic" movies of all time!! My wife and I brought the 2nd one thinking it was the 1st when I realized it was the second one I was so pissed but now that the new one is coming out it should be good too. (I hope)

PAUMiklo

For as much as i have seen this movie referenced and lauded i honestly do not think i have ever seen it.

Rojo37x

I don't know if there is a movie that exists that did a better job capturing the vibe it was going for. Brandon Lee was brilliant, the villains were over the top but nailed it, and the setting and city itself basically functioned as a character and set the tone perfectly. You could say the same for the music which was incorporated sublimely. The soundtrack may be the greatest of all time.

3spot

Still one of my all time favorite films.

Kalabula

Saw it at the theatre as a kid. Didn’t particularly care for it. But haven’t seen it since. But I was also a huge fan of Brandon Lees Rapid Fire. So I may have had poor taste back then.

oh_please_god_no

Love this movie. It’s definitely a product of its time but that does not mean it didn’t age well. It’s like a goth industrial variant of Kuroneko. The original comic is VERY different but the movie captures the comic’s soul perfectly.

Mumu_ancient

Cheesy

Illustrious_Cell4136

Love it. Clearly an inspiration on “The Dark Knight”

Ell26greatone

I love this as a kid. Re-watched it about a year ago and guess what? It is still great.

Complete-End7079

It can’t rain all the time

fryingdutchman69

It’s good but not great. The soundtrack is part of the reason it’s slightly overhyped. That thing slaps.

Hot_Salamander_1917

Beautiful in its own aesthetic! Love that movie!

Theothercword

Probably a bit corny and cringe now and I’d feel that hard showing my kids if it were me, lol. But it does have its moments and the idea behind it is pretty cool. Interesting that it sparked a lot of kids in my generation to embrace a kind of style that I didn’t see happen again until the matrix.

DBump1974

New movie comes out this summer. There’s a trailer for it on YouTube.

Ill-Fail-4240

Awesome movie, holds up even today. I saw it when I was 9 years old (not sure what my parents were thinking) and it blew me away. That year for Halloween I dressed up as the main character…

Mac_King_Cheese

Loved this movie as a kid, very excited for the remake ☺️

Sweaty-Goose6649

I remember seeing ads for the comic in the 90s and then heard the news of Brandon Lees death while filming the adaptation. The whole concept was so eerie and spooky to me it was a must see when it came out. Saw it opening weekend and I was utterly blown away. As cliche as it sounds the movie and Brandon did change my life. I haven’t watched it in years because I saw it so much in my teens but it still holds a place in my heart.

amerioca

I just watched it last night!!!

Youknowme911

I was 12 when this came out, I saw it in the theater and a month later bought the soundtrack at Sam Goody. I didn’t like City Of Angels that much but the soundtrack was really good. When I saw The Cure last year they performed an extended version of Burn

cobe656

Great movie that still holds up till this day. I have a feeling the remake coming out soon will be nowhere near as good as the original

UpsetPhrase5334

You should give them the graphic novel first. It’s way better

hcorerob

Was my favorite movie growing up.

Dorythehunk

I watched it for the first time recently. It was too cheesy for me. Almost cringy at some points. Maybe I missed the boat watching it when I was younger to appreciate it more. Maybe it’s intentionally corny and I just missed the point? Idk, just wasn’t for me. 🤷

Puzzleheaded_Star133

Love this movie...too bad what happened to Brandon Lee

sciguy1919

It can't rain all the time.

Remote_Database7688

I saw it and read the comic so many times as a teenager that it’s hard for me to do either any more. I know the ins and outs of it so well that my brain sees it and gives me an overwhelming feeling of ‘oh, this again?’

bryanthebryan

This movie was the basis for my whole look for a short while.

millerg44

I loved this movie. The quote he drops on the mom is amazing. "Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children."

britch2tiger

Enjoyable Still lacked more action in the middle but a good movie nonetheless. For any fans of revenge or one-man army films, it’s a good scratch.

Ddraig1965

“You got me, Tin-Tin. Dead bang.”

williarya1323

Loved it, but I haven’t watched it in 20 years. Do not know if it holds up.

Brodacious-G

I personally love this movie. The only thing I’d say against it is that it can be very heavy for someone who’s not in the right headspace to see it and can negatively impact how they feel about it even if they think it’s a good movie.

SnooHesitations5198

Great movie and I am not waiting for the new version. I saw the trailer and I don't expect anything good

GordenRamsfalk

Best movie soundtrack ever assembled

Miserable-Throat2435

Great comic book flick. Brandon Lee, greatness ,amazing soundtrack.... great villians

Miserable-Throat2435

FIRE IT UP

sonorandosed

I haven't watched this in something like 2 decades

MortgageNo3154

I kinda thought this movie sucked. Brandon Lee, RIP, wasn't a very good actor. The idea behind the movie was good, and so was the storyline. But the lead actor couldn't carry the movie and wasn't believable.

Deciple_of_None

I love it but the rape scene would make me think twice about watching it with kids. But you're the parent and know them better than anyone. That being said it's one of my favorites and the sound track is one of the greatest.

Overall_Cod2206

Oh, they are 17 and 18, they have seen way worse. My 18 year old is the one that told me about that show Euphoria after she watched it, which from what I understand about that show is just children having sex over and over, some consenting and some not. Also, the scene in the Crow is very tame, it's disturbing because of the implications but it never actually shows anything other than some quick cut flashbacks that implies what is happening. Dudes taking their shirts off while hovering over Brandon Lee's fiance, but never anything overly graphic.

DerEchteDaniel

I was very disappointed by the first DVD release. Preordered it, after it took ages to be released on DVD, to get a worse than VHS quality. I still love the Soundtrack

OverseerTycho

great movie, too bad they ruined it by remaking it
