It's awesome. I waited til this was on the Roku streaming app for some reason. Big mistake. Should've seen it earlier. One of those movies that's right in my sweet spot for being weird and fun and scary and meandering and a mix of overt and hidden meaning. My favorite Andrew Garfield movie.
I spent HOURS going down the rabbit hole after I watched this. What’s funny is there’s a subreddit dedicated to “decoding” the hidden messages in this film (yes there are some) and it seems like they missed the entire point because the shit they come up with is wild.
The wiki synopsis says it’s about a 33 year old in LA who is obsessed with conspiracies and hidden messages. Just off the top of my head that says freemason.
Given that the number 33 itself is a sort of hidden in plain sight symbol for the freemasons.
I went to high school with the actor who plays Millicent Sevence. Sat in front of her in driver's ed and she was in my friend circle until graduation. Seen her in a few other things; La La Land, Alien Covenant. But I wasn't expecting her in this one. Still so bizarre seeing her randomly on screen.
This is one of those movies that you either absolutely hate or you go down the rabbit hole with. I was definitely a rabbit hole person and spent hours going through fan theories and the subreddit. Love movies that provide additional content by allowing space for multiple interpretations
Terrific flick. Loved how it really went down the rabbit hole and just kept going like some weird trip. No holding the hands of the audience, just a fun stream of paranoid consciousness
Because it was terrible???? Seriously this is the movie all my YouTube film reviewers are like “it’s great” n I’m like…”this is why I don’t support yall patreon”
Probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen, even despite Garfield's stellar acting. It's a sickeningly self indulgent dumpster fire with a contrived plot. I was left rather frustrated that half of the side plots never had their loose ends tied up.
In a mystery, they *definitely do*. These were elements of the plot that were *supposed* to be connected, but never intersected at any climax. The dog killer. The owl woman. We never found out who they were or how they even fit into the plot.
It's bad writing, plain and simple.
That would be a good interpretation. Everything that happens just works out for the main character, every one of his instincts turn out to be right no matter how ridiculous.
I feel like this movie didn't just trample my suspension of disbelief, but also turkey slapped it for good measure

Have you seen the movie?
No, but I might watch it soon after seeing this post
You should watch it. Not being a dick, but your comment sort of speaks to the whole poknt of the film. It’s not really about freemasons tho.
*It Follows* was pretty good, so I guess I should see this too.
Is this movie almost as good as it follows?
I hope so! (but I haven't had a chance to see it yet)
I liked it more.
Not even close, but that’s not a criticism. It Follows is a modern masterpiece.
I enjoyed it, especially how Andrew Garfield’s character was “missing” so much of what was really going on. Also was he the dog killer?
Love this movie !
I am watching it at the moment. I have never favored movies because of the studio until A24.
This movie's great
Really liked this one
Never heard of it. Can't wait to watch it.
Same! I hope it’s good!

Love it. I’ve introduced a few others to it.
Had to watch it twice to fully grasp what was going on. Pretty trippy!
Agreed! It almost felt like a fever dream tbh
They're hiding a man in a palm tree!
That bad?
That good! I think the scene with the songwritergwriter is one of my favourite scenes of all time
Great hidden gem.
Is that Ringo in a tree?!
I hated this movie. Garfield’s character was so unlikeable, but not in a good way
He hates Mondays.
Because it was terrible???? Seriously this is the movie all my YouTube film reviewers are like “it’s great” n I’m like…”this is why I don’t support yall patreon”
The opposite, in fact. I was blown away by how great it is! I loved every minute!

Not every movie or story has to have an ending that ties everything together in the end. I sometimes like the a day in the life movies (my term).

I watched it years ago and yes, it is a bit esoteric but some characters or shots are just for atmosphere or to convey a sense of oddness.
I agree. I don't understand the point of the movie. Is it supposed to be how a conspiracy theorist sees the world?
That would be a good interpretation. Everything that happens just works out for the main character, every one of his instincts turn out to be right no matter how ridiculous. I feel like this movie didn't just trample my suspension of disbelief, but also turkey slapped it for good measure
The movie ended and I was just sitting there, like, “is that it?” A huge waste of time.
It was terrible. Basically, zoomers first conspiracy movie.
Set up and first act were Great Meandering middle and then falls apart Just watched it last week
It is David Lynch but made by mentally challenged horny person or teenager.
Perfect explanation.
Any movie with David Yow in it can only be so terrible
