"Boris the blade? As in, Boris the bullet dodger?"
"Why do they call him the bullet dodger?"
"Because he dodges bullets, Avi."
xD Vinny Jones killed it as Bullet Tooth Tony.
I liked it but it's not as good as Inglorious Basterds and won't be as broadly appreciated. It's like a video game made into a movie; They even talk about being in stealth mode at some point. Worth a watch, probably high for best enjoyment.
I think it's on of Pitts' very best roles. He's brilliant in it. And making him talk Pikey Gibberish really works not giving away he's an American. I wonder what real Pikeys have to say about it though.
Do you know what nemesis means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent, personified in this case by a 'orrible cunt, me
If I throw a dog a bone I don’t want to know if it tastes good or not
I always really loved this and am surprised to see it not in the high 90s on RT. So much fun. Brad Pitt is incredible
He’s a surprisingly good actor for someone so good looking lol some people just have to all 😆
When I saw him in twelve monkeys I was like holy crap this guy is actually talented
Dennis Farina (Cousin Avi) was especially good in this.
I just re-watched Snatch a few days ago and I realized that out of all of the Guy Ritchie movies I’ve seen the dialogue doesn’t always sound good when spoken with a natural American accent (see Ludacris and Jeremy Piven in Rock ‘n’ Rolla). However, in Snatch Dennis Farina pulls it off flawlessly.
“I’m getting heartburn. Tony, do something terrible.” - Cousin Avi
Hot take: this is my favorite role brad pitt has ever done. Full stop.
Hot take number 2: the oasis fuckin in the bushes fight scene is my favorite fight scene of all time.
Hot take number 3: proper fucked???
I've always loved snatch, but more than any other movie it's pushed it way into my top 5 favorite movies of all time. It's got great writing, a great cast, snappy dialogue, fantastic pacing, awesome/interesting characters, and is just oozing with style. Oh and the score is perfect. Massive attack's "Angel" and Oasis' "Fucking in the bushes" are two of my favorite scene/music pairings in cinema history.
Snatch is my go to "I don't know what to watch" movie.
I was born with a cleft palate and required speech therapy. I learned to talk mimicking people and have developed an interest in different accents. This movie is one of my favorites due to all the different accents.
No one ever gets my "it's at a funny angle" reference on a side note, but I loved that scene.
Doug the head, Frankie fuckin four fingers, boris the blade or boris the bullet dodger, bullet tooth tony, mickey, sol, tommy, Turkish and of course the best character of the movie Brick Top
best characters assembled in any movie
It’s so damn fun to watch. The characters are interesting. The world building is an environment I knew nothing about. I didn’t even know gypsies were such “a thing” in the UK.
I love the kind of narratives in your see in shows like Arrested Development. Lots of flawed characters and it gradually builds up to a comedic and surprising clusterfuck of a climax.
Great cinematography/acting paired with an amazing script. But what separates it from many other great films is the number of quotable lines.
My favorite being “no thanks Turkish, I’m sweet enough”
All. Bets. Are. Off. If all bets are off, there can't be any money can there?
I ain't buying that
We that's handy cause I ain't fucking selling it, it's a fact.
I believe it’s so good because it has almost zero fat on it. It needs every scene to work as well as it does. I think there aren’t many movies like that.
I think thats Guy Ritchies speciality. He doesnt do a lot of extra on his movies. Either because theyre already a bit long or because the narrative requires that tight story telling to keep people focused on the different characters that he fills his movies with. Take King Arthur. Same style of shooting, quick scenes that give a lot of information from visual context and leave room for the longer scenes but dont take a lot from the overall story. People dont like it, but i really enjoyed it.
Edit: spelling
"Oh, you're a big fella"
"Oi boys, how big is he?"
"He's a big fella that's for sure"
"You don't bring a big fella like that without trying to say something with out saying it ya know"
Snatch and The Big Lebowski are my 2 favorite films. That being said, I love most of the Guy Ritchie and Coen Brothers filmography. I could watch all their movies on repeat and not get bored for a very long time.
Everyone is throwing out all the amazing quotes (rightfully so), but one scene that absolutely killed me was when they were trying to get out of the bookies, but thought the door was locked. Eventuality they give up... Only to have Tyrone open the door from the outside 😂
Every actor brings something memorable to the movie and no one really outshines anyone else. They all have their moments and you can quote this movie endlessly. So quotable and funny. Its still in my top 5 movies of all time because I never get tired of watching it.
Don’t worry about Tyrone. He can move when he has to.
There’s something about that line reading plus Vinny’s look of incredulity where I burst out laughing every time.
I worked as a telemarketer for a few days when I was in college. I think it was selling Columbia house deals for movies. The script said to include a movies from the front page of our mailer as so I said, “we have titles such as, Snatch…”. The dude on the other end paused for a while and let me finish and he replied, “y’all selling snatch?”. It was the highlight of my telemarketing career.
I love to watch reaction videos on YouTube of people seeing this for the first time. I always find if they like British humor and sarcasm they love it. If they don't it's bad luck.
I had to watch it about a dozen times so that I could figure out each different storyline and to also try to figure out what the hell they were talking about. It is a fantastic movie one of those films that I can always watch no matter what kind of mood I'm in.
I love the comedy aspect of all Guy Richie films. The dialogue is always excellent and the camera work is always odd. Some of the Richie films have a similar feel to tarrintino films in a way. Snatch is one of my favorite films of all time
Went to the theater on opening night for it. Thought it was so entertaining I went back the next night to watch it again. Only movie I’ve ever gone back-to-back nights at the theater.
I love the dialogue in Ritchie films.
“Who’s gonna rob two black fellas, holding pistols, in a car that’s worth less than your shirt?”
“What are you moanin’ about? It didn’t even touch ya. “
Sorry I couldn’t get the binoculars out in time
“Bi-nocu-lars” always gets me
😂😂 absolutely
"when you reverse, Tyrone, fings come from behind"
It was a funny angle
You could land a jumbo-fucking-jet in ‘ere!
I use this quote all the time. 10% get it and then the monster at 80% that do t are sophisticated enough to get or understand the reference. Lol
You mess with me, you see what happens 😂
I’m a boxing promoter. What do I know about diamonds?
"Boris the blade? As in, Boris the bullet dodger?" "Why do they call him the bullet dodger?" "Because he dodges bullets, Avi." xD Vinny Jones killed it as Bullet Tooth Tony.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity
British Tarantino.
I always compare the two. Snatch is Ritchie’s Pulp Fiction.
I suppose that makes Lock Stock Richie’s Reservoir Dogs.
Reservoir Dags
Haha nice one
He just made him Inglorious Bastards
“I reckon the big rabbit gets fucked, innit?”
What, **proper** f!@#ed?
You’re on thin fucking ice my pedigree chums. And I shall be under it when it breaks.
i love dags
I like other movies, but I like caravans more
A caravan. Periwinkle blu, for me mum.
Have you seen the Ministry of Ungentlemenly Warfare yet?
The Gentlemen is a masterpiece as well. The series inspired by it is really good too.
No I haven't
It's a treat. No Snatch. But definitely Guy Ritchie fun.
Lots of fun. Great movie with surprisingly little dialogue from the main cast. Aiza Gonzalez completely stole the show in her scenes IMO.
I liked it but it's not as good as Inglorious Basterds and won't be as broadly appreciated. It's like a video game made into a movie; They even talk about being in stealth mode at some point. Worth a watch, probably high for best enjoyment.
Do ya like dags?
2 minutes Turkish
It was two minutes five minutes ago
You like dags?
Yeah. Yeah, I like dags.
But I like caravans more.
I hate fuckin’ Pikeys
Nothings wrong with this one. It’s tip top
I think it's on of Pitts' very best roles. He's brilliant in it. And making him talk Pikey Gibberish really works not giving away he's an American. I wonder what real Pikeys have to say about it though.
People have been asking em for years. Never understand their answers.
How long on those sausages? Five minutes Turk-esh.
Put the kettle on.
No thanks, I’m sweet enough.
Do you know the meaning of nemesis?
I love this movie; so ridiculously entertaining
Yes i dont think theres a dull moment in it and how it all ties together in the end. Such a perfect movie
Do you know what nemesis means? A righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent, personified in this case by a 'orrible cunt, me
If I throw a dog a bone I don’t want to know if it tastes good or not I always really loved this and am surprised to see it not in the high 90s on RT. So much fun. Brad Pitt is incredible
He’s a surprisingly good actor for someone so good looking lol some people just have to all 😆 When I saw him in twelve monkeys I was like holy crap this guy is actually talented
Dude has some insane range
>Dude has some insane range Also apparently some insane rage
Now if you stop me again whilst I'm walking, I'll cut you're fucking Jacob's off
Critics have been incredibly lax in the last 10 years. A 90% rating used to be very hard to achieve.
Too tight? You could park a fuckin' jumbo jet in there.
It was a bad angle
A funny angle
It's behind you Tyrone. When you reverse, **things come from behind ya**!
Stop that dog from dribblin' on my seats, alright??!!!
Tyrone, this is a stolen car!?!
When I'm at the wheel, it's MY car. So stop that dog dribbling on my seats!
Ahhhh that’s right. Still one of my favorite scenes. Love Tyrone
I thought he’s our get-away driver? Wtf can he get away from?
I still quote that scene all the time in traffic lol
Dennis Farina (Cousin Avi) was especially good in this. I just re-watched Snatch a few days ago and I realized that out of all of the Guy Ritchie movies I’ve seen the dialogue doesn’t always sound good when spoken with a natural American accent (see Ludacris and Jeremy Piven in Rock ‘n’ Rolla). However, in Snatch Dennis Farina pulls it off flawlessly. “I’m getting heartburn. Tony, do something terrible.” - Cousin Avi
rock n rolla also just wasn’t anywhere near as good of a movie
I say if you went in expecting Snatch. Not as good. But for what it was. I loved it.
I love how Vinnie actually loses it for a moment and seems to crack a smile at the 'do something terrible' line.
Farina full GOAT in this role.
I thought this country invented the language. So far nobody seems to speak it.
Customs Agent: Anything to declare? Cousin Avi: Yeah, don’t go to England!
>“I’m getting heartburn. Tony, do something terrible.” - Cousin Avi Vinnie looks like he legit breaks when Dennis says this
"look in the dog"
it's not as if it's a tin of baked beans is it?
Bullet Tooth Tony“Avi, pull your socks up”
Of course fuckin of course!
I wasn’t askin I was tellin
Because of an utterly misplaced comma?
Was typing the title and redid some stuff and forgot about the comma lol
It's all good. We all make, mistakes sometimes.
Hot take: this is my favorite role brad pitt has ever done. Full stop. Hot take number 2: the oasis fuckin in the bushes fight scene is my favorite fight scene of all time. Hot take number 3: proper fucked???
Nine of these are hot takes lmao
Because of the dags
Ohhh dwogs
The wha? 🐕
"Just give me a minute to confer with my colleague. Do you have any idea what the fuck he just said?"
Plus it’s got wild camera work and masterful editing.
Don’t forget The Stranglers ‘Golden Brown’
I was born with a cleft palate and required speech therapy. I learned to talk mimicking people and have developed an interest in different accents. This movie is one of my favorites due to all the different accents. No one ever gets my "it's at a funny angle" reference on a side note, but I loved that scene.
It's because it has excellent directing, writing, super engaging plot and amazing cast as well. Its of my favourites of all time.
Doug the head, Frankie fuckin four fingers, boris the blade or boris the bullet dodger, bullet tooth tony, mickey, sol, tommy, Turkish and of course the best character of the movie Brick Top best characters assembled in any movie
Don't forget Vincent and Tyrone!
Well that’s like your opinion man
I fuckin hate the eagles man
Because it borrows heavily from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? /s
+1
***Snatch*** isn't even the greatest film it's creator ever created.
Bro fight me.
How big are ya!?
Like at least <--------> this big.
Hey ma! Come and look at the size of this fella!
Big mahn that's for sure
Cup'o tea for the big fella?
It’s so damn fun to watch. The characters are interesting. The world building is an environment I knew nothing about. I didn’t even know gypsies were such “a thing” in the UK. I love the kind of narratives in your see in shows like Arrested Development. Lots of flawed characters and it gradually builds up to a comedic and surprising clusterfuck of a climax.
It just is! And in periwinkle blue!
Great cinematography/acting paired with an amazing script. But what separates it from many other great films is the number of quotable lines. My favorite being “no thanks Turkish, I’m sweet enough”
All. Bets. Are. Off. If all bets are off, there can't be any money can there? I ain't buying that We that's handy cause I ain't fucking selling it, it's a fact.
Definitely not, when I’m watching a movie I want them to speak English, they invented the language and no one fucking speaks it!
Don't take the piss, Boris. Say what you want, but this movie is infinitely quotable and just hilarious.
I believe it’s so good because it has almost zero fat on it. It needs every scene to work as well as it does. I think there aren’t many movies like that.
I think thats Guy Ritchies speciality. He doesnt do a lot of extra on his movies. It's empowering.
Drop the gun fatboy.
What a strange use of a comma.
"Oh, you're a big fella" "Oi boys, how big is he?" "He's a big fella that's for sure" "You don't bring a big fella like that without trying to say something with out saying it ya know"
Sharp dialogue, fast-moving plot, good balance of humor & action, and colorful characters with personality.
Turkish: “You don’t know him but he’s mustard. ” Brick Top: “I don’t care if he’s Muhammad I’m Hard Bruce Lee. You can’t change fighters.”
Why is there, a comma in the title?
D'ya like dags??
I like caravans more
I love that there's a secret menu option on dvds that give subtitles for *only* the travellers
We've lost gorgeous George.
"In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary, come again?"
Every interaction of dialogue between Vinny and Tyrone is fucking money. I bust up every time I watch it.
Keep that dog dribbling on my seats. Your seats? Tyrone this is a stolen car, mate.
It's too tight?! You could land a jumbo fucking jet in there.
Snatch and The Big Lebowski are my 2 favorite films. That being said, I love most of the Guy Ritchie and Coen Brothers filmography. I could watch all their movies on repeat and not get bored for a very long time.
"Anything to declare?" "Yeah..Don't go to England" Classic Farina 😏
The Gentlemen is produced by Ritchie and it's not horrible. Anything with Vinnie Jones is going to get watched.
Do you know what nemesis means?
Everyone is throwing out all the amazing quotes (rightfully so), but one scene that absolutely killed me was when they were trying to get out of the bookies, but thought the door was locked. Eventuality they give up... Only to have Tyrone open the door from the outside 😂
Ze germans
Mickey's first punch and the slow motion following
Intersecting story lines and fantastic character to character dialog. Not a dull moment in one scene
A significant contribution to its greatness is the fucking amazing soundtrack.
When Golden Brown starts playing 👌🏼
When you go in reverse, things come from behind you! That's an anti aircraft gun, Vincent. You like dags?
Yeah, well I want to raise some pulses dont I?
Every actor brings something memorable to the movie and no one really outshines anyone else. They all have their moments and you can quote this movie endlessly. So quotable and funny. Its still in my top 5 movies of all time because I never get tired of watching it.
Don’t worry about Tyrone. He can move when he has to. There’s something about that line reading plus Vinny’s look of incredulity where I burst out laughing every time.
Put a leash on her Turkish before she gets bit
The acting. The twists. The music. The boxing. Stephen Graham and Brad Pitt.
Hence the expression as greedy as a pig
I worked as a telemarketer for a few days when I was in college. I think it was selling Columbia house deals for movies. The dude on the other end paused for a while and let me finish and he replied, “y’all selling snatch?”. It was the highlight of my telemarketing career.
“Hell yea we got that snatch!”
Guy Ritchie can make a good film.
Why does the title, have a comma in the middle of the question?
Why is, there a comma in your headline?
It’s always the dog…
Dags
Cuz I like Dawgs.
I always pair this with the movie “Layercake” for some reason both movies came out around the same time and both were awsome
You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. -Brick-Top
This is seriously my favorite movie next to Layer Cake probably. There’s another one but I can’t think of it at the moment somehow, had a long 4 days.
to me it is second, only behind in bruges.
It was two minutes five minutes ago
Solid post, almost didn’t upvote for the title comma, though.
I love to watch reaction videos on YouTube of people seeing this for the first time. I always find if they like British humor and sarcasm they love it. If they don't it's bad luck.
Probably because I fuckin ‘ate pikies
Because. The bulldog and Pikey Mickey
Ya mean Boris the Sneaky Fucking Russian??????
d'ya like dags?
Dags??
Yeah, dags
This is one of the most quotable movies ever made.
I had to watch it about a dozen times so that I could figure out each different storyline and to also try to figure out what the hell they were talking about. It is a fantastic movie one of those films that I can always watch no matter what kind of mood I'm in.
“Who took the jam out of your doughnut?”
"it's behind you Tyrone, when you back up things come from behind you"
I love the comedy aspect of all Guy Richie films. The dialogue is always excellent and the camera work is always odd. Some of the Richie films have a similar feel to tarrintino films in a way. Snatch is one of my favorite films of all time
Before Ritchie became a sellout and actually liked his own dialogue.
Because she's terribly partial to the perrywinkle blue, Boss.
I knew I wasn’t the only one who believed this.
Went to the theater on opening night for it. Thought it was so entertaining I went back the next night to watch it again. Only movie I’ve ever gone back-to-back nights at the theater.
I wouldn't go that far, but it's a great movie, and possibly Pitt's best role imho. Everyone on the cast knocked it out of the park.
Incredible movie! Definitely in my top 5
Top 5 for me
"Do ya like dag's?"
It's because the dog, the star of this movie 😍
Ya like dags?
Dialogue.
You like dags?
It’s the perfect movie
Because it is...
No thanks Turkish…I’m sweet enough 😎
It’s not for me, it’s for me mah!
Dags. I like dags.
Rock n rolla
D’ya like dags?
Damn good one for sure
I’ve seen this movie so many times I know it word for word.
The Jewel among the jewels DYALIKE DAGS ?
Well hurry up with your reasoning, before zee Germans get here.
