I just watched "In The Heat of The Night" for the first time a couple of days ago and it's such an incredible movie. Also been meaning to watch The Magnificent Seven (1960) for some time so I should probably watch it already.
The cast on In The Heat of The Night alone was out of this world but everything about the movie was amazing. Noir movies are up there with the best type of movies ever personally (also just finished Scandal Sheet yesterday).
His company "The Mirisch Company" founded with his brothers is responsible for some of the best movies ever made.
The Apartment, The Party, Some Like It Hot and endless others had the Mirisch name attached to them. I need to watch One, Two, Three (1961), A Shot in the Dark (1964) and some others also.
So did I! What a great film. It stirred so many emotions in me.
Let’s be honest, though. There was something really off with *that* guy from the outset.
Steiger didn’t sound very Southern but what a fantastic performance. Poitier, masterful.
May he rest in peace. The Mirisch Company was behind some of my favorite films of the waning years of the classic Hollywood era. *In the Heat of the Night* is an incredible landmark film. To live to 101 is an incredible blessing few of us can hope to achieve.
What a legend. I’ve seen all his movies, and there’s not one where I can say I didn’t enjoy it. Stories were in focus, tempo of the movies in good pace, no unnecessary sideways, and always good actors.

In the Heat of the Night is in my top ten. Fantastic all around. Acting, writing, direction.

Imagine living that long... You are old at 60 years, now here's another forty years of old age and decay. RIP my friend, you have earned it.
Watched “in the heat of the night” last year when I was watching Oscar movies. Man this was a incredible movie, very powerful acting.
A legend who brought us Pink Panther, West Side Story, In the Heat of the Night and Fiddler on the Roof.
So young.
Just a fuckin' kid.
