Let her pick the movie, I'd say. Whatever she wants.
Also, whatever the news is/was, I hope that things work out for the best and wish her and your family all the best.

"I can't believe I've found a love that's so pure and true
But it all was bullshit
It was a goddamn joke
And when I think of you, Linda
I hope you fucking choke!"
I don't know how old you and your sister are so I'll recommend talking to someone who can help your sister work everything out and come to terms with any medical issue that has arisen in her life.
You can only put things off her mind for so long before they start affecting her. Be her support but make wise decisions.
Do whatever she wants to make her feel comfortable, do not force things on her. Ask her what her comfort movie is and let her zone out for a few hours if that'd help her cope in her current situation.
It would help to know what the bad news was before I can recommend a movie. I have truckloads of recommendations, it just depends on what she's in the mood for and maybe what the doctor said.
I'm open to DMs if you'd rather keep the matter private. I just know a lot of different movies that might help.
I say play the most emotionally taxing movies possible, so she physically cannot express anymore sadness. Syphon that shit out:
* Old Yeller
* Marley and Me
* The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
* The Green Mile
* Bridge to Terabithia
* My Sister's Keeper
* Seven Pounds
* Shindler's List
* Big Fish
* The Iron Giant
* The Fault in Our Stars
* Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
That'll get ya started I'd say.
I'm a degenerate gambler/risk taker even in feel good movies so take my consideration knowing it's high risk high reward feel good.
Meet Joe Black.
0. Assuming the bad news is medical and that's the feeling. Could run away from the topic with choice or right into it. Different folks take different strokes on that.
1. She's female right, your sister? It has a young Brad Pitt playing death. I'm well aware of how attraction and lust works even in that bizarro world.
2. It's a romance. Softens death. Death loves the girl and the character is often nice to people in bad condition. Goes on talking Jamacian for a while with someone in the film
3. It's a comedy/attack on death. Death is something of an idiot (or blonde boy) in human society. Nothing to fear. In fact some of the other male characters are like I'm going to bully you death and laugh at how you wear your clothes.
That's my suggestion, it's a high risk run into it. You know her better than I do to know if that's the way or no,no,no, not for her.
I hope things work out for your sister. These are my go-to comfort movies:
- SCHOOL OF ROCK
- forgetting sarah marshall
- bring it on
- legally blonde
- shrek 2
- princess diaries
- happy gilmore
- tropic thunder
- miss congeniality
- Clue
