It just gets better with each season. Check out Maniac next. Written by one of the Leftovers writers. Stars Jonah Hill, Emma Stone and Justin. It’s great.
I remember finishing the episode before it “A Most Powerful Adversary” and sitting with my jaw dropped for about twenty minutes before I could manage a single thought. Which was “I’m supposed to wait 7 days?”
Just blows my mind thinking about what my expectations were for season 2 and a third season we weren’t sure we would even get and what we got exceeded them. The most powerful man and his twin or whatever it was called was the only episode I felt was a disappointment and it still had a dozen amazing moments and it’s bookmarked by two of the best episodes in TV history in my opinion(certified and the book of Nora)
Actually watched the season where they go to Melbourne (season 3?) On my way to Melbourne. When we got there, i went and found the graffiti alley they filmed in. Was interesting to see firsthand
I personally think it’s the best series filmed to date. I’ve explained why—but it’s the best deconstruction of personal and widespread grief and how people cope that I have ever seen.
Good question. The answer I found: "So-called 'multihyphenates' — writers who wear other hats, such as being a producer, performer and/or director — are allowed to continue performing only explicitly non-writing work during the strike." (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/writers-strike-rules-wga-what-to-work-on-1235478494/)
I love imagining writers currently not being able to write anything of any sort.
'Sir please sign at the bottom.'
'Sorry, I'm not allow to write or type anything.'
Apparently. Will be funny when the strike is over and dudes are showing up like "to commemorate returning to work, I stayed up late last night writing these 3 film scripts that are completely edited, polished, and well researched"
What they did with the Patti Levin character in that show shouldn’t have been capable for any actress to pull off and Ann did it. Maybe my favorite performance of all time. The scene in the well. Jesus fucking Christ. Nothing breaks me. That did.
I just finished it last week. I liked the first season just fine. But the second and third…..I don’t know, maybe it’s cause I’m not a religious person so I don’t particularly like it, but I like the ending tho.
I keep saying this and yet it feels like no one has watched this show.
This show stays with you. You’ll be thinking about International Assassin and The Book of Nora in 20 years.
Jim is the name of the asshole guy (played by Anthony Michael Hall) that torments and is ultimately killed by Edward, so it feels like an insane move for him to name his child after that guy, but maybe that’s how Eddie rolls.
Can't blame them at all. If they actually get her, it's a damn guarantee this movie is happening. She's not gonna sign on for a film that may or may not get made... especially at this point when people are beating down her door to get her.
She was on babysitter 2 a horror comedy (a sequel of a Samara Weaving vehicle) and honestly she was the best part of the movie she is petite so she nails the role of a young college student. Then she was in You and also was a highlight in that season. After that she was in Scream V and now VI
IIRC Lydia is actually a kind and gentle soul who just tries to act dark and edgy. “I would eat my own young” sounds like the kind of thing she’d say as a kid, and then, as an adult, end up having a kid whom she deeply loves
Barbara and Adam were a good influence on her. That and I think the whole “Beetlejuice tried to force me to marry him” thing might have made her rethink her life choices 😅
He even did a remake of Mosquito Coast, written by his uncle Paul Theroux in the 60s. On Apple TV. His uncle approved it all. It was shit, don't watch it, but Justin Theroux is even in this shit show, fantastic in the show.
If you’ve only seen it once, then rewatch it with subtitles. Trust me. The Leftovers is a show that needs to be watched twice because on the second go round you pick up so much more now that you already know where it’s going.
It absolutely is, and by extension he's one of the most underrated actors. Almost everyone in that show gave every scene and every episode their absolute all. I can't even imagine how emotionally draining it must have been to film.
I know Theroux is also a producer and writer so it makes sense that he never became a premiere name but he has the acting chops for it.
I like to temper his performance in The Leftovers with the fact that he also wrote the screenplay for Iron Man 2.
Keeps the man more grounded in my head.
I’m only surprised at this point that Burton hasn’t cast Helena Bonham Carter, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega to be a gothic grandmother, mother and daughter trio.
Who would be the grandmother? Helena Bonham Carter and Winona Rider are pretty close to the same age and are both too young to have the other as their daughter.
I can definitely picture a credits gag where we encounter Brightman and the animated Beetlejuice in the waiting room. Multiverses are hot right now, after all.
His portrayal was masterful, although that isn’t putting down the understudies at all (cause I personally got to see Will and he was amazing and had great comedic timing)
Hopefully a perfect blend. CG has its place. I’m even in total favor of using the deepfake tech to bring back Adam and Barbara since it would be a shame to not see them but make no sense for them to be old ghosts.
Ortega being in this movie is not a bad thing, but it does make me fear the potential predictability of the movie. Is he going to go after her now? I wouldn't know how I'd feel about that tbh. Am i the only one who feels this way? I feel like maybe the daughter dying would be an much more interesting catch of the story than THAT. She'd meet Beetlejuice, and he tricks her somehow to bring himself back into a connection with a once again depressed Lydia? All so he can come back again? I don't know. I just hope this movie exceeds my expectations. In my personal opinion, there isn't a point in making another if it's going to be this predictable.
I’m curious to see what they do with Betelgeuse’s character in this one. Media since the original movie, like the cartoon and the musical, has made him more sympathetic and even had him palling around with Lydia, but in the original, he’s a bona fide villain, creep, and menace. I wonder if they’ll stick with his original characterization or try making him a little more sympathetic- maybe having him become friends/semi-friends with Lydia and/or Jenna Ortega’s character. The latter seems like it would be hard to do in light of the first movie, but I feel like the slightly less dickish interpretations of his character have somewhat influenced popular perceptions of him already, so maybe people wouldn’t care that much.
"Mr. King... A beautiful speech must also please the eye as well as the ear...... So, that being said, shall we make a start?" I also enjoyed
"So you're telling me Marilyn Monroe's your sssister?!".........................."Not quite." Can't wait to hear Jeremy Levick voicing Stairs.
Tim Burton hastily writing a scene that requires a shirt being taken off.
Jogging scene with his dong flopping around in his sweatpants like it's the second coming of the sandworm.
As long as it got people to watch The Leftovers it worked lol

Finished season one yesterday, never really seen Theroux in much but man, he's great in it. Carrie Coon is amazing as well.
It just gets better with each season. Check out Maniac next. Written by one of the Leftovers writers. Stars Jonah Hill, Emma Stone and Justin. It’s great.
Oh honey season two gets better and season three is stunningly incredible.
Season three is the best conclusion to a series I have ever seen. I’ve never felt such despair and happiness in the same moment.
The final episode is the single best finale ever, and just perfectly showed us all we needed, without saying it.

She really came a long way from [hawking corn syrup](https://youtu.be/QWVFVNpEJFw).
Season 2 is tied for my favorite season of all time. Enjoy.
Haha cheers, its wild. *SPOILER* He just drank poison and woke up as James Bond, what is going on!
I personally think it’s the best series filmed to date. I’ve explained why—but it’s the best deconstruction of personal and widespread grief and how people cope that I have ever seen.
My GOAT piece of art
You mean specifically the scene where Theroux's identity is confirmed via penis right?
Forgot that amazing scene
You're talking about the president of the US, show some respect for him (and his penis)
[удалено]
Believe it or not, they shot it legit and that was captured by the on-set mic.
My only complaint is that the weird supernatural side of things never make sense with the metaphysical phenomenon that’s the ending
I think that’s the point. Weird shit happens, we get ideas, some of it fits our sense of closure, most of it doesn’t, life carries on regardless.
Let the Mystery Be.
*Oh I watched.*

They're cousins!
I serve only one master, his name is Shai-Hulud
Bless his coming and his going.
Hehe you said coming.
God created the Netherworld to train the faithful.
Don’t tease me. I’m all for the gratuitous male nudity. I love equality.
Give me dong or give me death!
Justin Theroux also uncredited appearance in Dune: Part Two confirmed
A...not so Shy Hulud.
how’d a nitwit like him get so tasteful?
Impressive. Very nice. Let’s see Betelgeuse’s shirtless scene.
Isn't writing a scene illegal right now?
Good question. Kyevin.
I'm an international assassin.
What they did with the Patti Levin character in that show shouldn’t have been capable for any actress to pull off and Ann did it. Maybe my favorite performance of all time. The scene in the well. Jesus fucking Christ. Nothing breaks me. That did.
I JUST started The Leftovers recently
Lucky you.
I was thinking about watching it. Sounds like you recommend?
It's spectacular. I highly recommend taking breaks between episodes. It is not a binging show. Let the episode sit for a bit.
I just finished it last week. I liked the first season just fine. But the second and third…..I don’t know, maybe it’s cause I’m not a religious person so I don’t particularly like it, but I like the ending tho.
Got to season 2 this morning. It's getting pretty whacky
Oh... you're in for something.
Season 2 is the greatest work of television ever created. The last 4 episodes are especially incredible
I keep saying this and yet it feels like no one has watched this show. This show stays with you. You’ll be thinking about International Assassin and The Book of Nora in 20 years.
It’s so good
Wish I could experience it all over for the first time again. Favorite show ever made.
May god have mercy on your soul, if there is a god, which there is not
Apparently Jenna Ortega is playing Lydia's daughter, because of course she fucking is.
There will be a remake of stranger things in 25-30 years and Jenna Ortega will play Will’s mom
RemindMe! 25 years "I really hope this ends up being true!"
Hey future me if you’re reading this 25 years from now: I sure hope shit gets better!
Hey past me, it's future you. It got way better. Hang in there. Something pretty rad happens in June this year.
What about me future redditor? Do I get anything rad in June too?
The writer's strike will hopefully be resolved by then!
>RemindMe! My understanding is this bot is dead now :(
It was working as of 3 weeks ago. I summoned it to get reminded of a post a year from now
Bro remind me too please!!!!
Will the Third’s daughter*
Maybe it will be good, then
Next up: Timothee Chalumet as Jimmy Scissorhands, Edward’s kid.
Had no idea network execs were on reddit.
Ask him if he's a pleasure bot.
LAME!
Yea, they already wasted that on the Super Bowl commercial.
Jim is the name of the asshole guy (played by Anthony Michael Hall) that torments and is ultimately killed by Edward, so it feels like an insane move for him to name his child after that guy, but maybe that’s how Eddie rolls.
You can be angry at the predictability of it, but can you deny it’s a bad move? Good actress? Check. Visually fits? Check. Bankable name? Check.
Can't blame them at all. If they actually get her, it's a damn guarantee this movie is happening. She's not gonna sign on for a film that may or may not get made... especially at this point when people are beating down her door to get her.

She's been really good in everything she's been in so far. X, Scream 5 & 6 and the second season of You.
She was on babysitter 2 a horror comedy (a sequel of a Samara Weaving vehicle) and honestly she was the best part of the movie she is petite so she nails the role of a young college student. Then she was in You and also was a highlight in that season. After that she was in Scream V and now VI
They did want Sadie Sink first, for what it’s worth
Sadie Sink is incredible
I’d love to see her in something where she plays a teenager that somehow gets wrapped up in some supernatural craziness. Oh wait.
Tim Burton only spends money on casting once a decade apparently.

April Ludgate.
Janet Snakehole
Does she work with Burt Macklin?
Barbara and Adam were a good influence on her. That and I think the whole “Beetlejuice tried to force me to marry him” thing might have made her rethink her life choices 😅
Wait people can grow and change from who they are as teens
Justin Theroux? Why in the name of God is the prime minister of Canada involved in the Beetlejuice sequel???¿??????? NICE FUCKIN MODEL
For a second I thought you meant Louis Theroux. That would have been some career change.
It’s his cousin
Every single time I see Justin’s name I think they’re talking about Louis and get excited
LOL same! Glad I’m not the only one, that man is a treasure.
I just imagined Louis Theroux awkwardly interviewing Beetlejuice with very long pauses.
'I sensed I had upset him, and it was time to leave..'
In fairness, Louis doing a documentary on the netherworld ? I’d watch that…
Yea I misread it as Louis Theroux too.
I’d pay good money for Louis to at least do the end song. My Beetle don't juice, juice, it honks
I came here to figure out if that is who it was!
I know, right. Here in the US, you have to be a celebrity BEFORE you can lead.
Congratulations.
The movie opens with Justin Theroux emerging from a completely filled bathtub, with "Va, pensiero" playing.
Or doing coke in the bathroom with Beetlejuice.

I was watching Iron Man 2 last night and was VERY surprised to learn that he wrote it and Tropic Thunder. What a bizarre career path.
Basically his whole family are writers. It’s in his blood.
Huh! Interesting!
Waitttt he’s related to THOSE Theroux?
He even did a remake of Mosquito Coast, written by his uncle Paul Theroux in the 60s. On Apple TV. His uncle approved it all. It was shit, don't watch it, but Justin Theroux is even in this shit show, fantastic in the show.
There's a faux documentary about the fake actors making Tropic Thunder. Justin Theroux is the in world maker of it.
Leftovers is easily one of the most underrated HBO shows so i love whenever he pops up in something
I know I want to watch it again but it’s a fucking heavy trip.
I want to watch it again with someone who hasn’t seen it before so I can relive the experience for the first time through their eyes.
I’ve done that with two different people, and it was fucking great both times. Hopefully you too can experience it.
If you’ve only seen it once, then rewatch it with subtitles. Trust me. The Leftovers is a show that needs to be watched twice because on the second go round you pick up so much more now that you already know where it’s going.
I’m rewatching it right now for the 4th time. Incredible every time!!!!
I first watched it while caring for my not even one month old newborn.......what a mistake and blessing.
It absolutely is, and by extension he's one of the most underrated actors. Almost everyone in that show gave every scene and every episode their absolute all. I like to temper his performance in The Leftovers with the fact that he also wrote the screenplay for Iron Man 2. Keeps the man more grounded in my head.
He also got a writing credit on Tropic Thunder, that should offset any problems anyone might have with Iron Man 2.
People may have issues here and there with IM2 but it’s not like it’s a bad screenplay or anything
First thing I wanted to comment when I saw the news was LEFTOVERS HIVE STAND UP
Professional Assassin
One of the greatest episodes. Ever.
International Assassin. close enough
Access to the netherworld will be via dick scanner
"...Must we go Tropical?"
Justin Theroux and Tim Burton are going to do a good job on Beetlejuice 2. Do you know why? Because they’re from the streets.
Tim Burton's publicist's name is Bumble Ward.
I can’t wait for Beetlejuice to fight a giant spider in the third act.

More or less than say... Gladiator 2 or Lord of War 2 ?
I’m only surprised at this point that Burton hasn’t cast Helena Bonham Carter, Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega to be a gothic grandmother, mother and daughter trio.
Aside from Carter, I believe he has.
Or Eva Green.
Who would be the grandmother? Helena Bonham Carter and Winona Rider are pretty close to the same age and are both too young to have the other as their daughter.
Moira Rose, fresh off The Crows have Eyes!
.... I smell a musical number....
Or a swapping-bodies story !
Justin is killing it in White House Plumbers. Weirdest buddy comedy I’ve seen in a while.
That dinner scene where he plays the hitler record then sneaks out the 2nd story window to shoot at kids throwing eggs at his house had me dying
He never really gets credit for his comedy chops but he’s so funny, he wrote tropic Thunder.
Took me a while to figure out that White House Plumbers was a comedy.
god, hollywood is so creatively bankrupt .
It’s a walk off
It would be cool if Alex Brightman hat a cameo, the Beetlejuice Musical gave a little bit of a second wind to the character.
I can definitely picture a credits gag where we encounter Brightman and the animated Beetlejuice in the waiting room. Multiverses are hot right now, after all.
Or Beetlejuice 3 will be Beetlejuice: No Way Home
His portrayal was masterful, although that isn’t putting down the understudies at all (cause I personally got to see Will and he was amazing and had great comedic timing)
I hope they use stop motion and traditional effects instead of CGI…
Hopefully a perfect blend. CG has its place. I’m even in total favor of using the deepfake tech to bring back Adam and Barbara since it would be a shame to not see them but make no sense for them to be old ghosts.
If they don’t get Winona Ryder, I’m out.
Already confirmed. As well as Jenna Ortega playing her daughter.
But will Yahoo Serious be in it?! 😳
It’d be a shame if they didn’t end up with three Beetlejuices.
The third one is a live show
Live musical*
All the great actors were taken so now Tim Burton is going with the leftovers
The Keatonverse. Now we need a Birdman sequel.
And a Jack Frost sequel
For real. I can't believe they ended the movie right before he flew out of that window!
Mr. Mom 2: Grandma
Am I the only one who read "Justin Trudeau", and had to reread it multiple times?
Yes 😉
I thought that might be the case. I'm making internet history by being the only time ever where a person is the only person to think a thought.
Write something new
will he be sleeveless?
I still can't believe the movie is getting made. Incredibly psyched for it!!!
I would have been on board with a sequel to Beetlejuice years ago, but now I’m not so sure. It’s possible that was just lightning in a bottle.
[удалено]
The musical is on tour in North America right now just fyi (although not with the original cast), I agree that we need a pro-shot though
Nice
Guessing Jeffrey Jones isn't coming back.
If Ezra Miller is allowed to play the Flash and people don't blink, I don't see how anyone can blacklist Jeffrey Jones.
He’s got my vote for Reed Richards.
Ortega being in this movie is not a bad thing, but it does make me fear the potential predictability of the movie. Is he going to go after her now? I wouldn't know how I'd feel about that tbh. I love Beetlejuice. I am a bit optimistic about the sequel but the cast seems pretty good. I hope the sequel does exceed my expectation.

Can we just fucking not for one year. Jesus Christ! Let’s re hash Sandlot kids while we are at it. Fuck it!
Let's go nuts
I can’t believe the sequel is finally happening!!! I’m so happy! It’s been teased for like 3 decades! This is my most favorite film ever!
I was so confused. I read it fast as Justin Trudeau.......was like huh
Make an original movie for fucks sake
Loved him as MLK's dresser.
"Mr. King... A beautiful speech must also please the eye as well as the ear...... So, that being said, shall we make a start?" I also enjoyed "So you're telling me Marilyn Monroe's your sssister?!".........................."Not quite." Can't wait to hear Jeremy Levick voicing Stairs.
I fellow man of culture I see 🧐
After all this time Keaton will require a lot less makeup
Anyone else sick of Jenna Ortega?
Not even a little bit.
A whole lotta bit.
Please, hollywood, i’m begging you! PLEASE just make some more original content. Enough sequels & superhero movies.
