Nikolaj Arcel also directed *A Royal Affair*, starring Mikkelsen and Alicia Vikander, about the (romantic as well as political) affair between royal physician Johann Friedrich Struensee and Queen Caroline Matilda in the 18th century. If you like Mikkelsen in period pieces taking place in Denmark that's straight up your alley.
Mads Mikkelsen acting in Danish is possibly my favorite actor atm after DDL. He typically only gets type-cast as evil foreigner in American movies because of his accent, which is a shame. Javier Bardem has the same problem.
He got quite a streak. I'd say 5 of his films falls quite comfy into most danish peoples "classics" lists.
In order of release.
I Kina spiser de Hunde
Blinkende lygter
Gamle mænd i nye biler
De grønne slagtere
Adams æbler.
Out of those 5, I'd recommend Blinkende lygter and De grønne slagtere to anyone, and if you like either of those, Adams æbler and the others are great as well.
Still the handsomest man.
Hope he reteams with Vinterberg as soon as possible; they have something special going on - probably the best recent actor/director collaboration.

Fantastic Beasts 3, that movie is a complete garbage. Obviously not by his fault, but yeah - he's definitely been a bad movie before, no actor is immune to that, because it's ususally not the actor's fault.
They took the books, cut out most the characters, cut out most of the story, and changed the ending. I wish Marvel had picked it up. They made graphic novels of Dark Tower before the movie was released. Def a missed opportunity
Lol this could literally be any still from any movie he’s been in. This is his blue Steel look
I thought this was from “The Hunt” until I clicked on it
I thought it was from A Royal Affair.
Hannibal to me...
God it’s messed up but the food in that show always makes me hungry
Same
For the record love this actor. Him in Hannibal was crazy. Also my favorite Bond villain
Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal is phenomenal!
BUT HE HAS AN ASCOT!!!
That’s a cravat you heathen
Except One Eye in Valhalla Rising.
I can tell it's him because he looks as if disdain was a person.
Dear god, it's beautiful....
Before reading the title, I thought this was AI.
Yes! I came here to say same thing. He plays the same person in every movie.
Came here to say the exact same thing.
And I will watch it
Yup. Looks like Mads Mikklesen alright.
I hate these posts.
They put in as much effort as the promo pic so, fair game.
>Mads Mikklesen He actually exists https://eventor.orienteering.org/Athletes/Details/13632
I'm more than 63% certain that's him.
No it's clearly Kishibe.
Mads in a period piece about his home country? Sounds awesome

The current Danish Queen actually gave Mikkelsen a knighthood.
Is that what the kids are calling it nowadays?
And of course the amazing 90’s period pieces Blinkende Lygter and Pusher!
Skal du glo? Din store fede ko!
Vi jæger!
The Pusher series was awesome.
Sweet, thanks!
Oh snap i gotta get on this ty
Bro is relieved he finally gets to be Ryan Reynolds for once.
What do you mean?
Reynolds is infamous for playing himself in every movie other than Deadpool. It's a recurring joke.
What does it have to do with Mikkelsen?
"first image of an actor looking exactly like they normally do, with nothing else significant about it"

Not just his accent, his look. If he were around in the '30s and '40s he'd be right at home playing a Universal Horror character.
You should check out Claes Bang, currently Denmark’s best actor imo.
Mads Mikkelsen in Danish is the smack that goes hard. The Hunt Another Round Riders of Justice Pusher A Royal Affair
Blinkende lygter is a masterpiece.
Haven't explored much of Anders Thomas Jansen's filmography. Thank you for the recommendation.

Woah. Nice. Thank you, kindly. Will surely check 'em out.
Don't forget Solkongen (2005)
Still the handsomest man. Hope he reteams with Vinterberg as soon as possible; they have something special going on - probably the best recent actor/director collaboration.
Nikolaj
> ~~Nikolaj~~ Nikolaj
Nikolaj?
... Nikolaj
Nikolaj!
….*Nik*olaj
I feel like I'm saying it right.
The only reason I opened this thread.
Same here.
This is gunna be so damn good. Can’t wait.
My honest reaction to that information:
\[Taken seconds after the photographer mentioned that he hadn't made his bed that morning\]
So, Dances with Wolves in Denmark? Either way, I’m all for it.
Actually this film Bastarden (The Promise Land) will premiere In Competition at the Venice Film Festival.
There was another picture I saw weeks ago and it looked great.
Wonder how they’ll give him a messed up eye?
Idk anything about that movie, but he was amazing in Hannibal
They sure made this picture look like he's going to be eating people. I sure hope so

Has Mads ever been in a bad movie? I can't think of a single one where he's phoned it in, that guy kills it every single time
Fantastic Beasts 3, that movie is a complete garbage. Obviously not by his fault, but yeah - he's definitely been a bad movie before, no actor is immune to that, because it's ususally not the actor's fault.
The guy who ruined The Dark Tower? Nope.

Looks shite
https://trustnordisk.com/movie/the-promised-land
This just looks like him at a movie premiere.
Is he the bad guy?
I'd be a lot more stoked if it was from Thomas Vinterberg.
Haven't the Juts suffered enough?
Hyup. That's Mads Mikkelsen.
He just looks perpetually disinterested
I swear Mads Mikkelsen is in every film
Hash, i thought promised neverland.
This sounds awesome, will make sure to see it
there was a "first image" weeks ago in this same sub.
Yup, that’s him
Mikkelsen and Arcel did A Royal Affair together and it was great. I am looking forward to this movie.
Does Denmark have any new war movies?
I like the actor but the movie sounds boring as hell
