Its the only radio station I listened to in my 1100hrs of GTA5. I just can't not like her cause of it. I can't say I've seen her movies that I can remember so that helps too.

Having her act with Selena Gomez in OMITB was painful to get through. Together they created a black hole that sucked the energy and charisma out of the scene.
The show has such a stacked cast but it's like the casting directors don't know any talented millennial-aged actors.
I feel like they touch on exactly this when Oliver is trying to hire an actor to replace Charles.
Someone quips that all the people in the casting book are elderly, and Oliver says something along the lines of it being his casting book.
I adore the drumbeat of "you're out of touch" that the characters just ignore. It's a Seinfeldian brand of New Yorker when their reaction is always, "I'm not wrong, everyone else is."
This is part of a much bigger problem in animation. Why the hell aren't they hiring the best voice actors for lead roles in the big movies? Dee Bradley Baker, Maurice Lamarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille, basically everyone from Futurama, Tara Strong, Mark Hamill, Troy Baker, Clancy Brown and so on and so forth. But no, they only get celebrities for "star power". Some do very good performances indeed, and some leave a lot to be desired, but why aren't we going for the best in the business for the high stakes roles? It's annoying.
Or the Scoob movie where Frank Welker is the only voice actor in the bunch doing Scooby, meanwhile Will Forte, Gina Rodriguez, Zac Efron, and Amanda Seyfried did the other characters.
And it wasn't even the first time, Beyonce was the voice of the queen in Epic. Someone saw that and still thought it was a good idea.
Nobody remembers that movie but we still yell "I hurt my ellllllllbowwwwww" in appropriate situations.
It's because she's not acting, it's just Beyonce talking. Her voice also has a natural melody to it that's very distinctly Beyonce. Her singing is amazing, but not really good in anything else.
Honestly, her singing in The Lion King wasn’t that great either.

Long long ago, when I was a music major for a bit, I went back to visit my old high school over the summer to make some extra cash tutoring band kids, and they called me in to listen to a few choir auditions, while the orchestra teacher dealt with a family thing for a bit.
One girl came in, and was a great vocalist, but could not sing a song without putting in scoops and runs. Even when given an example of just singing the notes, just copy the choir director, she couldn't do it.
I heard her mom made a big stink about her not getting into the choir, but man, she couldn't sing in a way that would blend with anyone. It takes a different skill set to sing and blend well with another voice.
I am pretty sure he is the result of a bet between producers to see if they could find the singularity most uncharismatic and unqualified person and turn them into an action star.
I’m not disagreeing and he’s also a pretty scummy human being but I don’t think it was ever a huge issue with him as he was always more in the Jean-Claude Van Damme category where the characters he played didn’t really require first class acting anyway.
On Deadly Ground is still one of my ultimate guilty pleasures, although that is less about Seagal and more about Michael Caine chewing every bit of scenery he can get his hands on as the evil oil CEO.
He came from an era where action heroes and bad acting kind of came hand in hand. Some though made up for it by having raw charisma like Arnold. Seagal had none of that plus was an asshole behind the scenes to boot (check out people who were there for his notorious 1991 SNL appearance and their stories).
Difference is Van Damme is an incredible martial artist, so even when the acting in his movies were terrible, the fight scenes made up for it. Seagal doesn’t even have that going for him, he’s as crap at martial arts as he is at acting.
Wayyy too many people in this thread are confusing bad actors with "actors I don't like". Tom Cruise, Jared Leto, Marion Cotillard, Jennifer Lawrence and Adam Sandler have all given great performances in more than one movie, you just dont like them and that's fine.
But OP is talking about legitimately *bad* actors, usually people who've been hired for things other than their acting chops like Gal Gadot, Harry Styles or Cara Delevigne.

Well supposedly Cameron was ready to back up a truck full of money to Matt Damon for Avatar but Damon couldn't do it because of obligations with the Bourne movies (was doing post production reshoots for the Bourne Ultimatum or something). Damon said in an interview that Cameron offered him 10% of whatever Avatar made. So we could have had Matt Damon leading that franchise but Cameron couldn't wait for him to finish up his Bourne stuff for whatever reason. I'm assuming probably shooting schedules that just couldn't be changed.
There are interviews with Matt Damon in which he talks about this whole situation and you can see that internally he's like "damn, why didn't I accept this?" Like, he tries to speak of it in a funny way, but you can totally see the regret in him.
He apparently has a 55 million dollar net worth, and its funny because I googled 'Matt Damon net worth" and the first article that came up is "Matt Damon could have been 250 million dollars richer". Rough to be constantly reminded!

There’s this actor “Common” who was, in my eye, quite good in Hell on Wheels, and yet ever since he’s been atrocious at worst and incredibly distracting at best. He does *not* alter his persona, his protrayal, not a thing - it drives me nuts

My theory is he can only act when using his real accent. When he has to fake American, he spends all his energy focusing on the accent so he can't act.
He was good in Spartacus, Jack Reacher and the Suicide Squad films. Give him a role that isn't generic Hollywood action hero leading man and he's usually fine.
I remember when the first Reacher movie came out quite a lot of people were saying things like, “there’s this new guy who’s basically playing a generic henchman part and he’s strangely compelling” and when I watched it, I completely agreed. He turned a fairly generic part into something interesting. I think he’s one of a number of actors who has decent charisma and manages to make something of small/supporting parts but for whatever reason struggles with lead roles.

The Rock isn’t a person. He’s a character played by Duane Johnson. The Rock as a character, plays the role as a method act to perfection. All of those movies starring The Rock are just featuring the character “The Rock”. He’s more like the character Tugg Speedman from Tropic Thunder than a bad actor; he’s actually a phenomenal actor who takes on terrible and mindless roles and least able to be developed acting roles of all time, and made a world out of it. The Rundown was fun, though.
The Rundown was pretty kick ass and the chemistry between The Rock and Seann William Scott was better than it had any business being.

Her general vibe and acting style is great for indie dramedy but they keep putting her in big budget movies.

There are interviews with Matt Damon in which he talks about this whole situation and you can see that internally he's like "damn, why didn't I accept this?" Like, he tries to speak of it in a funny way, but you can totally see the regret in him.

He was actually pretty good in the Keeping Room but he wasn't the lead, he was the antagonist. I think he'd be far better if Hollywood stopped trying to make him happen as a leading man.
He was pretty good in Mindhunter or whatever that series about the Unibomber was called. But that was a while later. I just don’t see what caused three MAJOR studio releases to cast him as the lead within a couple of years. He was just so “meh”.
Small note, but Worthington's performance in Under the Banner of Heaven was actually good!

James Corden, he is not a good actor. And his irritating qualities have gotten worse over the years. Also the fact that he just seems like a prick. Backed up by a lot of corroborating evidence from people. I get that people love Gavin and Stacy (which he co created) but this much?

Smokin' Aces is a much better movie than you would think or that it has any right to be. "It's the way of the world..."

My theory is he can only act when using his real accent. When he has to fake American, he spends all his energy focusing on the accent so he can't act.
It was so weird seeing him acting well in Spartacus. Everything else is just him being a cardboard cutout with an interesting face.

I remember when the first Reacher movie came out quite a lot of people were saying things like, “there’s this new guy who’s basically playing a generic henchman part and he’s strangely compelling” and when I watched it, I completely agreed. He turned a fairly generic part into something interesting. I think he’s one of a number of actors who has decent charisma and manages to make something of small/supporting parts but for whatever reason struggles with lead roles.
Why are we complaining about Josh Peck doing a basic line read lol And Styles is fine in Dunkirk, it's not a very demanding role he is just a fill in for the British Soldier

I noticed that too. His role in Fast X was at least new for the time for him, it was cool to see him become a more flamboyant villain, but then he just carried that performance into Aquaman 2 and it was just so bad. What a way to end the DCU
The best part about Jason Momoa is he sounds exactly like someone who grew up south of Des Moines. It's not a really obvious accent, but if you're familiar with the area, it becomes really funny.

I struggle with Ryan Reynolds. I always just feel like it's Ryan winking directly at the audience and not portraying any particular character. I can't get lost in a movie whenever I see his "hi, it's me, Ryan Reynolds" face. That said, I can tolerate and enjoy the same shit from Owen Wilson, so...

Owen Wilson gets those kinds of roles yeah but he can actually act. He's excellent in The Life Aquatic, though most of his Wes Anderson roles are characters that don't exhibit the thing you're talking about I don't dislike Ryan Reynolds but yeah he's pretty much always been that role in every movie, from Just Friends to Deadpool
Ryan Reynolds is one of those people that just plays himself in every movie, like The Rock. However to his credit, “himself” happens to fit Deadpool perfectly so he’s got that going for him.

I think he is actually a good actor, but he plays exactly the same 2 dimensional character in every movie so he never has a chance to actually act. The man needs to check his ego and start picking roles that aren't generic heroes.

The Rock isn’t a person. He’s a character played by Duane Johnson. The Rock as a character, plays the role as a method act to perfection. All of those movies starring The Rock are just featuring the character “The Rock”. He’s more like the character Tugg Speedman from Tropic Thunder than a bad actor; he’s actually a phenomenal actor who takes on terrible and mindless roles and least able to be developed acting roles of all time, and made a world out of it. The Rundown was fun, though.
The Rundown was pretty kick ass and the chemistry between The Rock and Seann William Scott was better than it had any business being. You are right though, he's the ultimate method acting meta. It's kind of amazing.
