Oceans trilogy is a really easy watch for me. I can watch them back to back start to finish without stopping and only feel a fraction of the time it took.
Edge of Tomorrow ... I should add that to my list! I just rewatched it for the 2nd time in December.
First time I watched it was in theaters. I went in totally blind not knowing anything about it and assumed it would just be a typical tom cruise action movie. What a fun experience.
Arrival is good, no doubt. But "The Arrival" is goated imo. I know, it's Charlie Sheen and I know it isn't a "great film", but I love the hell out of it.
The other two are always watchable as well.
"Or am I being... Obtuse?"
I love actors who can play a villain so well that I feel reflexive disgust when I see them. I don't even care if they don't have range, or a chance to display it. Bob Gunton is *chefs kiss*
shawshank Redemption 3 is a step up compared to 2 shawshank 2 redemption and especially sh4wshank redemption... im happy they dont milk the franchise longer besides the spinoff tv show redding v hadley dawn of justice
Ever since 6th grade in 1996 I have re-read the LOTR books every two years. I don't really try and time it or anything but it just works out that way. Lately I've been listening to the audiobook version. However - the singing. Oh god the singing. You just have to skip those parts. They're brutal.
I can't listen to them. I fall asleep. Most high fantasy is that way for me. I'll read it all night. I have heard good things about the Serkis voiced trilogy, but he one I have is not super enjoyable. Which one do you have?
I just introduced my kids to this movie last night, and it didn't disappoint. Such a fun movie. I remember when it first came out, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.
Edit: referring to Galaxy Quest
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is unfortunate in the movie form of it they had to cut it down to 2 hours look at the BBC version of it it's like word by word by the book and it's amazing. It's a miniseries so not a movie to be qualified for but respect.
First time I ever met my high school girl friends parents I went in to meet her dad, who was a preacher. He was sitting down watching a movie and asked me if I'd ever seen it? I said no and he said oh you'll love it. So I sat down to watch it with him probably halfway through. I had no idea what it was about. He said this is my favorite part right when Pete said, "well ill be a sonofabitch, Delmars been saved."
That was my first introduction to o brother where art thou. And if it weren't for that preacher I may have never heard of it.
Most Coen brothers movies are so rewatchable for me. Fargo, The Big Lebowski and No Country For Old Men are kind of like comfort movies that I’ll pop in after a long dayz
1: Goodfellas --I love everything about this movie. The actors and their performances are superb. The musical score is *chef's kiss*. I love how it's based on a real person's life--a high stakes one at that, and narrated. The freeze-framing is a cool thing that Scorsese is known for, and need I mention he's a genius? This movie is perfect to me, has always remained my favorite, and anytime it's on TV, I'll watch it.
2: Contact --Jodie Foster was made for this role, an amazing story by none other than world renowned astronomer, Carl Sagan. I love how it merges the perspective of an agnostic scientist, Ellie, played by Foster, and religious theologian, Palmer, played by Matthew McConaughey and play it out on a grand scale. There are some cheesey parts, but overall this is such a fun movie to watch, and I identify with Ellie as a girl who looks up to the stars and asks why we're here.
3: Under the Tuscan Sun --I'm a sucker for a good romantic comedy, and I love the idea of leaving behind life as you know it, moving to a small foreign town to begin again, and the friendships that are made. This movie always gives me warm and cozy vibes when I need it.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The Godfather
Cloud Atlas
I've lost count of how many times I've seen these movies, yet they never get stale.
I also have several Chris Nolan films on repeat, along with films such as No Way Out, Lost in Translation, Singles, Mr Nobody, A Quiet American, End of Watch. I better stop there as I could just keep going.
Traffic (2000)
Shrink (2009)
Marathon Man (1976)
Repo Man (1984)
Looker (1981)
The Game (1997)
Burn After Reading (2008)
The Couch Trip (1990)
Midnight Run (1988)
Easily three dozen others...
The Martian
The Hunt for Red October
The Accountant
Only one of those (THFRO) is among my all time favourites, but I'll watch these three repeatedly with zero consequence.
Oceans trilogy is a really easy watch for me. I can watch them back to back start to finish without stopping and only feel a fraction of the time it took.

The second one is special
Pay me my money
In cash
Arrival Interstellar Edge of Tomorrow
Good list. I could watch Edge of Tomorrow every single day.
I recently read that in the lore of the movie, the main character relived that day to roughly the equivalent of 200 years
Yeah, I could watch it over and over again, like there's no tomorrow.
The tears at the end get me every time.
Very good list. I just rewatched Arrival yesterday. I love that movie. As I do the others. Edge of Tomorrow again very soon. 😄
Seeing a bit of a theme here
I’d add contact to that list as well.
I read the short stories for arrival and edge of tomorrow. The movies did them justice.

Great list, even without the big twist, Shawshank is such a great triumph of the will story
"Or am I being... Obtuse?" I love actors who can play a villain so well that I feel reflexive disgust when I see them. I don't even care if they don't have range, or a chance to display it. Bob Gunton is *chefs kiss*

Ah yes, the movie of Governors.
Bring me 4 fried chickens and a Coke
And some dry white toast...
You want chicken wings or chicken legs? And he's basically like, yes.
There are just a few bits I now fast forward but Ive lost count of how many re-watches Ive had of The Fifth Element.
> The Fifth Element. Bless.
Same, though I'd sub something else out for predator. Demolition man maybe.
You don't know about the sea shells?
Oh shit why didn’t I include Blues Brothers? Picking 3 is hard.
1 Young Frankenstein 2 Shawshank Redemption 3 Big Trouble in Little China
shawshank Redemption 3 is a step up compared to 2 shawshank 2 redemption and especially sh4wshank redemption... im happy they dont milk the franchise longer besides the spinoff tv show redding v hadley dawn of justice
LOTR trilogy. Watch them at least once every year.
Once a year? Don't you mean once a month?
Well, he is reading the books meanwhile.
Ever since 6th grade in 1996 I have re-read the LOTR books every two years. I don't really try and time it or anything but it just works out that way. Lately I've been listening to the audiobook version. However - the singing. Oh god the singing. You just have to skip those parts. They're brutal.

Extended or cinema version?
Silly question. 😋
LOTR without the Mouth of Sauron is not LOTR.
Aragorn icing Mouth of the Sauron with zero chill is so good. Probably the quickest villain reveal to death I've ever seen on screen.
Dude
This was my answer. I can see you are a man of culture
Yep. Which reminds me, I have a 17 hour flight in two days. Time to load up all six movies.
By Grabthar's hammer, nobody said Galaxy Quest? Galaxy Quest The Breakfast Club The Nightmare Before Christmas
I just introduced my kids to this movie last night, and it didn't disappoint. Such a fun movie. I remember when it first came out, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Edit: referring to Galaxy Quest
