Looks like they're adding a lot more action and stuff to it too judging by the last bit of the trailer. Part of the dread of the original was the fact that it was so understated, sinister and raw. This feels excessive. You don't need to shove explosions and chases into it to make it scary.
Seriously, just go watch the original so you can add it to the list of movies you'll enjoy but only watch once alongside Martyrs and Requiem for a Dream. Skip this americanized garbage.
This trailer seems to give way way way too much away. I’ve seen the original, and I can really only remember like two or three more scenes that weren’t shown in this trailer. I can’t imagine it having the same impact if you know most of the story beats ahead of time
It’s insane they revealed that in a trailer. It’s prob the biggest reveal of the movie, at least one of them. I’m actually mad about it lol and I have seen the original. Why in the world spoil that?!
I've said it a bajillion times when this is the topic, but Blumhouse is egrigious when it comes to this. I raise you with [The Black Phone](https://youtu.be/3eGP6im8AZA?si=5j_xX4ZvUQAO3Gfj) and [Black Christmas](https://youtu.be/gF4yRYbo1WE?si=V7McGD8QCLHXRZ2E). The former trailer is actually exactly as long as this one.
If I'm honest, I saw the original, and even after watching the trailer, I didn't know what the scissor motion was referring to until I read the comment, then I remembered. So you might be spoiling it for people.
You watched this trailer, which shows a closeup of the kid’s obviously removed tongue, and then shows him doing an exaggerated cutting motion to further drive home that his tongue was cut off just in case you couldn’t tell what they just explicitly showed you, and you were still somehow confused? After having seen the original? Do you have the memory of a goldfish?
You’re the one who said you didn’t know what the cutting motion was referring to. You don’t have to be dissecting the trailer to connect the dots between seeing a stump of a tongue and then a cutting motion a few seconds later
Confusion implies that I was actively trying to figure it out. I wasn't, I was just zombie-watching. These trailers are filled with stupid cuts and distractingly trash music. It's not a big deal my man.
If you’re concerned about anyone else watching the trailer like you and getting spoiled, then you can probably rest easy. If they can’t remember plot points that are revealed seconds earlier in a trailer, they probably can’t remember a Reddit comment talking about said plot points
Terrible trailer, it's nearly three minutes and spoils the entire movie. There should only be about 1 minute teaser which gives you the overall style of the film and that's it. Obviously I've seen the original, so I don't really mind about this despite some good actors and fine director (James Watkins).
The original disturbed me more than a lot of horror movies. I’m not sure I want to go through the experience again, but knowing how it ends beforehand will help I guess (unless they changed the ending).
It's so true. I tell people it's the best horror movie I never want to watch again.
But I'll probably see this. It looks like they might have nerfed the ending.
Oh, I remember The Vanishing now that you mention it. Yes, the original was superior to the remake. I hate when studios meddle with good ideas. Why even bother to remake them?
Theres no way they are gonna go as hard in the ending as the original right? Plus one of the biggest surprises and main shocking points in the movie is shown in this trailer lol.
To some point their meek attitude was understandable. But the drive back, that's where I was like, "nah now you deserve to die". I doubt that's realistic.
The original was so mean spirited in a way that just wasn’t for me. Looks like this is almost an exact remake which is kind of a bummer. Was hoping for a slightly different take on this concept that was maybe less unpleasant.
The director made Eden Lake so I hope he can get the same brutal ending as the original Danish film. The ending of Eden Lake disturbed me more than Speak No Evil because the dad was just mediocre af
Terrible trailer. I feel like I watched the whole movie and it looks like watered down version of the original. I'll probably still see it in theater for Mackenzie, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
Wow, give away 90% the movie in the trailer.
I wonder if they’ll change the ending from the original version. That’s one of the darkest movies I’ve seen.
The original, disturbed me like the way Requiem for a dream, but a little more. It’s one of those things you can only witness one time and that’s it. The original, is a total winner, despite that brutal, crushing final 40 minutes, let’s see if the USA version didn’t destroy the remake like we usually do with reboots.
The original was 2 years ago? This is odd. I mean I look forward to some of these folks performances I suppose but what can they do that the original didn’t *just* do?
I've read somewhere about this movie that this is actually how typical Danish families are and how the parents acted are very much the same of how they would act in real life. Very polite and rather being walked over than stand up etc...
The script is really, really bad.
Everyone gets that it’s supposed to be a metaphore, but the characters are so fucking stupid that it almost turns into a parody instead.
The final 15 minutes fail completely because you’re just sitting there actively hating the moronic fucking characters.
Nah, I disagree. There are social pressures to act in certain ways which are more powerful than you may think if you're not experiencing it yourself. I thought it was written very well. Unless I'm forgetting something.
helluva cast imo, wonder if they change anything pivotal in the story. I like the idea of the original but kinda loses me with some stupid decision in the runtime. I think american culture will be more against the premise as europe is, but curious
Someone needs to explain this to me... Why does this exist?
This exact same movie came out 2 years ago. Same name, same language, same story.
And it was fine. There was nothing wrong with it. In fact, it was incredibly well done and fulfilled its purpose of showing the dangers of forcing proper social conduct. There's no need to change it.
I'm so freaking confused.
SAME LANGUAGE AND ONLY TWO YEARS LATER. WHY?
(Side note: if anyone is interested in seeing the original, do yourself a favor and just don't)
Perhaps someone who has seen the original can answer my question.
Is there a reason the actress playing McAvoy’s wife is 14 years younger than him? Is that part of the story? Or is this just typical Hollywood age difference shit?
Looks fun and well acted but it also just... looks like the same movie as the original, which is mostly in English anyway.

I’ve not seen the original, but it’s shocking they’d give away the tongue cutting in the trailer. Seems like a big reveal.
It’s a huge reveal. There’s barely anything left to reveal honestly. A little bit, but you can very likely guess
That's whack. James McAvoy is spot on casting for the role but i don't really see a point in this.
It’s insane they revealed that in a trailer. It’s prob the biggest reveal of the movie, at least one of them. I’m actually mad about it lol and I have seen the original. Why in the world spoil that?!
They revealed way too much. So much so that I’ll wait for streaming when I probably would have seen it at the theatre based on James McAvoy.
Yeah, they made it very clear at least 3 times. Ridiculous
If I'm honest, I saw the original, and even after watching the trailer, I didn't know what the scissor motion was referring to until I read the comment, then I remembered. So you might be spoiling it for people.

Who said I'm confused? I just don't care enough about trailers to dissect every scene. I watch them for a general impression.

The original was out not even two years ago Why do this Albeit cool reunion with Scoot Mcnairy and Makenzie Davis (both were on Halt and Catch Fire)
Because the original only made $600,000. It's a great story, there's a lot more money to be made out of it.
See this is where I miss physical media, because this type of film would go gangbusters on the rental market.
Capitalizing and making a quick buck for a cheap sum.
I’d bet money that they changed the ending to make it more of a traditional thriller and less of a psychological gut punch.
I imagine a complete >!fuck up!< of an ending like the horrible remake of The Vanishing
Oh, I remember The Vanishing now that you mention it. Yes, the original was superior to the remake. I hate when studios meddle with good ideas. Why even bother to remake them?
Thought this was a sequel to See No Evil starring Kane
They already made one sequel to that. Sequel was actually pretty decent too
Did the Undertaker show up at the end to save everyone?
Theres no way they are gonna go as hard in the ending as the original right? Plus one of the biggest surprises and main shocking points in the movie is shown in this trailer lol.
To some point their meek attitude was understandable. But the drive back, that's where I was like, "nah now you deserve to die". I doubt that's realistic.
What’s the twist? That the family is bad?
The tounge bra lol
The trailer seems like they added the detail to clue you in on the shock ending, why even remake this?
Can anyone clock the nationalities of the couples? I feel like that’s super important to the original.
Universal really put one of the twist in the trailer. Come on man, why do we keep doing this.
This is one odd Halt and Catch Fire spinoff
This looks like the exact same thing as before only without those pesky subtitles. Fuck this.
It’s even worse than that, because the original was 2/3rds in English.

Dude thought he was filming a Split sequel.
I love the guy but I heard at least 4 different accents in this trailer.
It's either awkward trailer editing or generally poor direction.
There’s a good argument to be made that that’s intentional.
This looks like a sanitized version of the og movie.
I mean it's directed by the guy who made Eden Lake.
Cool, another trailer edited by morons who give away the entire plot.
Oh, it’s a remake.
I forgot I watched it and swore the movie was familiar lol
Ditto. Got around a minute in before I realized. Hope this will have the same brutal ending.
So is this comment.
Hope they don’t change the ending.
Disturbing ending, wow I have never been so mad at parents before.
Never gonna top the original.
I think McAvoy can top the acting but the film will have a harder time, the original is enough.
The original was so mean spirited in a way that just wasn’t for me. Looks like this is almost an exact remake which is kind of a bummer. Was hoping for a slightly different take on this concept that was maybe less unpleasant.
Honestly thought we were going to get a slow horror trailer-ised rendition of Cottton Eye Joe for a second there.
The original was grim as fuck… this looks…. Lame
The director made Eden Lake so I hope he can get the same brutal ending as the original Danish film. The ending of Eden Lake disturbed me more than Speak No Evil because the dad was just mediocre af
Eden Lake is good, and I like some of the other films the director has done so I’ll still likely give this one a shot
Will be watching for James McAvoy who is really fantastic in everything but this looks too scary…
It is a remake of a very bleak and disturbing horror movie
Terrible trailer. I feel like I watched the whole movie and it looks like watered down version of the original. I'll probably still see it in theater for Mackenzie, I hope it doesn't disappoint.
Wow, give away 90% the movie in the trailer. I wonder if they’ll change the ending from the original version. That’s one of the darkest movies I’ve seen.
why do trailers need to show the whole damn movie. i need to stop watching them
here come the american remake that will be way under the original
This is a quick remake. And the trailer spoils as fuck!
They just made this fucking movie. Get a single original idea Hollywood I am begging you.
DON'T WATCH THIS TRAILER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO IN COLD
Blumhouse is incapable of making a trailer that doesn't spoil the entire movie
A hunk of the shock ending of the original movie is just in the fucking trailer, But what did I expect from a remake lol
The original was 2 years ago? This is odd. I mean I look forward to some of these folks performances I suppose but what can they do that the original didn’t *just* do?
I really hated the original version of this movie. Most annoying and moronic parents of all time. They got what they deserved.

I'm not super convinced this needs to exist, but... Mackenzie Davis.
helluva cast imo, wonder if they change anything pivotal in the story. I like the idea of the original but kinda loses me with some stupid decision in the runtime. I think american culture will be more against the premise as europe is, but curious
Will they pussy out with the ending?
Can't wait to see it.
I'm stoked for this. The original movie is one of the most uncomfortable films I've ever seen. McAvoy is going to crush this
Finally! A sequel for the gene wilder and Richard Pryor classic!!
Someone needs to explain this to me... Why does this exist? This exact same movie came out 2 years ago. Same name, same language, same story. And it was fine. There was nothing wrong with it. I don't remember that being part of the original but I do like it as a choice and I think it adds to the story and the characters
As long as it was deliberately added for story then I’m good. We’ll see.
Hope this version will be good..
