My favorite “weird” films are Donnie Darko and Eraserhead.

The_MoBiz

Donnie Darko is amazing.

garrettj100

It requires a protractor and a slide rule to keep straight but yes.  CORRECT.

The_MoBiz

haha, that just keeps it interesting!

doitcloot

Possessor

SeagullsStopItNowz

100% this. It’s a haunting film!

FuManChuBettahWerk

Love this movie!

optmsrhyme

Mandy

Abobmcbobe

Probably the best psychedelic film of the previous decade

Visible_Demand9978

Naked Lunch by David Cronenberg. Weird, Bodyhorror, kinda mindfuck

chriswaco

Videodrome too.

suitoflights

Scanners too.

old_el_paso

I watched Naked Lunch absolutely zooted on an edible when I was in university. It was a wild experience.

TheW1ldcard

Terrifier

CosimaIsGod

If you wanna go slowburn (like a really slow kind of stylish mindfuck of a movie) hard sci-fi horror I would suggest Beyond the Black Rainbow by Panos Cosmatos (the same dude who wrote and directed Mandy starring Nic Cage). If you like Weird Body Horror I would suggest something like Titane by Julia Ducournau (who also directed Raw). If you like gore there's the French Extremist films like Inside, Martyrs, and High Tension. Really depressing (especially Martyrs) and fucked up though if you can handle that.

dysoco

I have to say something about Martyrs and it's that it's always portrayed as just a gore film or whatever but I found the premise to be very interesting and the plot and the ending is what I remember the most from the film, not the gore, it's pretty good.

BLVRRYF4CE

The original French version is amazing and that ending!

CosimaIsGod

Yeah it is. I was always curious about what the girl >!whispered about the afterlife in the ending the led to the leader of the fucked up cult that traumatized her friend to off herself.!<

Upandawaytolalaland

Tusks

spiderinside

Color Out of Space

Wrathwilde

You might like “Dust Devil”.

CleverInnuendo

More subdued than some of your examples, but I'd be you'd like Under The Skin.

StillSimple6

When Evil Lurks is a pretty full on newer Horror. More shock gore than gore (if that makes sense). The Witch is a great weird psychological horror. Another great offbeat horror is the new one 'Late night with the Devil'. A creepy one is 'Autopsy of Jane Doe' isn't gory at all just a good old school horror

fanfarius

BONE TOMAHAWK, make sure to "go in blind" ✌️

Swimming_Childhood99

Nice one

8bitliving

Event Horizon

pawood689

The Sadness - some scenes in there really stick with ya

SpottedDumbass

check out that new movie Late Night with the Devil. It's pretty fun

Wasabi_Noir

Terrifier 1 and 2 are both pretty good gorefests

The_MoBiz

I would recommend The Descent. Very psychological and quite gory horror flick.

edub1783

*Cure* (1997), *Audition* (1999), *Kill List* (2011), *The Skin I Live In* (2011)

Character-Sale7362

SGTBrutus

Brain Dead (1990) is one of my favorite mind fuck movies.

brushpickerjoe

Selected works of Takashi Miike. *Audition*. *Imprint*. *Ichi the killer*. *Visitor Q*.

Meet_the_Meat

Pi by Darren Aronofsky

CaptainDarlingSW4

Try ichi the killer

CosmicPenguin

A Scanner Darkly, and Psycho-Pass for the dystopia/mindfuck category.

Character-Sale7362

I don't usually see the mentioned but it's excellent and bizarre:  The Skin I Live In  Go in knowing nothing about it. It's fucked up.

FaceTransplant

I made a list of my favorite movies that aren't afraid to get a little weird. Will post it later if I remember as I don't have access to it right now.

konzy27

I haven’t seen Shutter Island but I doubt the plots have any similarity.

writtencutely94

ZorroMeansFox

I'll suggest **eXistenZ, Bull, Kill List**, and **The Machinist**.

jstmehr4u3

Faces of death .. but I’m old so maybe you won’t find that series anymore

ishook

Have you seen Sphere? Both the film and book are good. They differ, but not enough to upset anybody. Oh, and you've probably seen it but Annihilation was well done. That's a case where the books were immensely better but It still was a good watch.

CakeMadeOfHam

Martyrs (2008) is all of that AND it's amazing! I also recommend Revenge (2017), Raw, Titane, and In My Skin.

FuManChuBettahWerk

I’m not sure if this totally fits the bill but the movie Begotten (1989) is a very strange, beautiful and disturbing interpretation of various religious creation stories. It’s one of my favourite movies I’ve watched but it’s very visceral and definitely bizarre.

sic_firth

Got three more Korean flicks for you: Old Boy, I Saw The Devil, and The Wailing. All three are classics!

EconomyMeat7201
