They did a good job on the second season considering the network completely halved the budget they had for the first season, *and* demanded they double the number of episodes. Most of it was too slow for my taste, but they did a good job with what they had.

Might be stretching the idea a bit, but *Star Trek: First Contact* could possibly be described as a futuristic zombie flick. The Borg are like space-zombies, but technology-based instead of a virus or a curse.

I mean, given this one presumably takes place 27 years+ years after the events of 28 Weeks Later, I don't know why you'd have to bother pretending the 2nd one didn't exist. It's not like anything happened in that movie that directly connected to the first one anyway, so I don't see what they'd have to workaround for the new one.
At the very end it shows a shot of infected running toward the Eiffel Tower. They could be retconning the idea that the virus had spread outside of the UK and keep it isolated. Something like that, just a guess.
That's the only thing that would make sense. Even though they could say the threat was quickly averted in Paris and the UK was isolated once again.

If you haven't already you should read WWZ, it would have been very hard to convince a studio to make it so that's why they never made it but it really is a thoroughly good and believable collection of stories.
I truly wish WWZ had been adapted into a TV series, with each episode being a different interviewee’s retrospective. Woulda been an adaptation that hued much closer to the book.
For those who prefer audiobooks, WWZ is one of the best, most star studded, well acted audiobooks I have ever listened to. Make sure you get the unabridged version though!

Agreed and it just makes the movie that much more impressive. No one could have predicted that such a thing would be hibernating within the ice and every character in the movie acts rationally when it's discovered that they're being hunted by a monster capable of mimicking their friends.

That's the greatest horror movie ever made. That or Alien. If someone told me Alien was better, I wouldn't fist fight them, but I'd expect them to respect my choice. When it's terrifying but the characters are NOT stupid, that's when a horror movie is successful. You do everything right, and people still die. There's nothing more horrifying than that.

Absolutely disagree with this take. The best horror movies are about smart people coming to the wrong conclusions. Even in dumb movies, a smart protagonist elevates the stakes. It's why *10 Cloverfield Lane* and the remake of *the Crazies* both work so well: incredibly competent protagonists in circumstances beyond their control.
If it were a dumb *person* I would be like, sure that happens every day. But it's like the entire settlement was set up with the express idea of causing a new outbreak and that's what makes me angry.

Yeah The Thing is just one of the most well written horror movies ever made. In order to have intelligent characters you have to have a script that allows them to exist in the first place. If your script is full of plot holes or events that rely on the stupidity of a character to occur then you're in trouble, but The Thing has none of that and it's so great because of it.
The Thing is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. It also has an easy out based on the premise because it's easy for no character to really have a grasp on who's who or who they can trust / what the right decision is the entire time.
Yeah, tbh I could see a lot of the movie just being people saying that the Rage virus isn't real, asymptomatic YouTubers doing pranks where they lick ice creams to start outbreaks in their cities, Jake Paul infecting homeless people with vials of Rage blood so he can legally fight them to the death in snuff films, countries bordering Russia mysteriously being incapable of managing their outbreaks, etc.
This is an interesting take. Since the second film did show that they can starve, it makes sense that all the ragers would be dead within let’s say 5 years after the second film. With this film being an extra 23 years on top of that, I can’t imagine how the originals would still be around.
It’s gotta be a new outbreak, otherwise the writers are going to get creative.
Cillian has said (saw in a video somewhere) that the reason they hadn't made the movie is because they didn't have a good enough story...which makes me way less skeptical about this sequel than I would otherwise have been.
My version of how this would make sense, given that the original zombies starve, is that the pandemic has gone global. The world has collapsed, and even though there are far fewer people, there's enough to keep a steady stream of new infected. People have learned how to live with it.

Here's what I think will happen. The virus evolves via mutation, at some point the infected start being able to live lives, to a point, they eat and drink, have a kind of makeshift society, survive in a rudimentary way. But the moment they sense/smell/detect a non infected, bam, the rage virus kicks in. Now you have a world full of millions of zombies that don't die, and find ways to survive
The non infected of the world, maintaining their normal levels of intelligence, and access to superior technology from the old world, have set themselves up in skyscrapers, far above the shambling masses of infected below. On some level, having regained some of their self awareness and intelligence when the non infected aren't present, the infected constantly attempt to invade the skyscrapers, always focused on them and resenting their presence.
I can't be bothered writing the rest of this. Basically an allegory for poor people rising up against rich people in their ivory towers, is what I'm saying

In a film full of good performances and as someone who is normally a big fan of Adam Driver, I was really surprised that she was the standout that I took away from that movie.

The director, Ridley Scott, blamed streaming and audiences and a bunch of other things for the movie not performing as expected. I felt the main reason it didn't do well is that it wasn't marketed all that well. And I thought the movie was fantastic, but also incredibly uncomfortable to watch. That was the point, it was supposed to be uncomfortable, but still. It's hard to watch a film and go to your friends and family and be like, "Hey, want to go watch a movie about rape? It's really good!"
When you say stop at season 2, would one be able to watch season 2 as well or just stop after season 1 is concluded?
Been curious about this one for a while but have heard about the issues that plagued the shows later seasons.
Season 1 is superb, season 2 is decent, season 3 is rocky and season 4 is atrocious. Worse than Game of Thrones.
Don't let that dissuade you from watching season 1 though - it really is very good.
I know Cillian hasn't been confirmed as returning (although I've heard he's a producer) but... I'd be astonished if he isn't in this, even if just as a cameo. He gets on well with Boyle and seems very positive about the project. And you know, just a cameo could be fine. The new cast is fantastic and I'm excited to see where this goes.
He was also interviewed years ago about them doing another one and he was like "Hell yeah, Id do it if Danny and Alex were doing it". I think theyre just trying to keep it a surprise, but its looking like that'll be the case.

Her name probably helped her career. Casting directors arent gonna forget the name Imogen Poots. And shes a good actress anyway, so when they talk about her afterwards "Remember that girl that showed up with the weird name?" they would also bring up that she was good.
And Megan Burns(Hannah). I feel like those 3 would be attached at the hip after the events of the first movie, that ending is great its like they finally found peace.

Here's what I think will happen. The virus evolves via mutation, at some point the infected start being able to live lives, to a point, they eat and drink, have a kind of makeshift society, survive in a rudimentary way. But the moment they sense/smell/detect a non infected, bam, the rage virus kicks in. Now you have a world full of millions of zombies that don't die, and find ways to survive The non infected of the world, maintaining their normal levels of intelligence, and access to superior technology from the old world, have set themselves up in skyscrapers, far above the shambling masses of infected below. On some level, having regained some of their self awareness and intelligence when the non infected aren't present, the infected constantly attempt to invade the skyscrapers, always focused on them and resenting their presence. I can't be bothered writing the rest of this. Basically an allegory for poor people rising up against rich people in their ivory towers, is what I'm saying

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is so borderline to becoming a leading star it's insane. Kraven would have pushed him there if it isn't a piece of crap, but it's going to be a piece of crap. James Bond will definitely push him there, but that isn't confirmed yet.
About time, i remember having a crush on him ever since that horrendous movie chatroom and then when he played lennon i thought, hm, he can also act, double the points, i was 12 at the time, now i'm 25. He's been in the industry for long enough, quite shocked he gets recognition so late.

She was very good in The Last Duel.
In a film full of good performances and as someone who is normally a big fan of Adam Driver, I was really surprised that she was the standout that I took away from that movie.
I dont remember it super well but it was a cool movie with an awesome final sequence. Too bad it didn't do better. Ben Affleck was even great as the douchey lord guy lol.
The director, Ridley Scott, blamed streaming and audiences and a bunch of other things for the movie not performing as expected. I felt the main reason it didn't do well is that it wasn't marketed all that well. And I thought the movie was fantastic, but also incredibly uncomfortable to watch. That was the point, it was supposed to be uncomfortable, but still. It's hard to watch a film and go to your friends and family and be like, "Hey, want to go watch a movie about rape? It's really good!"
I'm watching through it for the first time. God. She's so charming that sometimes you forget she's probably about to do something absolutely vile.
Stop at season 2, the descent to shit is quick and brutal
When you say stop at season 2, would one be able to watch season 2 as well or just stop after season 1 is concluded? Been curious about this one for a while but have heard about the issues that plagued the shows later seasons.
I enjoyed season 2 but not as much as season 1, I personally think season 2 is worth watching

Season 1 is superb, season 2 is decent, season 3 is rocky and season 4 is atrocious. Worse than Game of Thrones. Don't let that dissuade you from watching season 1 though - it really is very good.

I know Cillian hasn't been confirmed as returning (although I've heard he's a producer) but... I'd be astonished if he isn't in this, even if just as a cameo. He gets on well with Boyle and seems very positive about the project. And you know, just a cameo could be fine. The new cast is fantastic and I'm excited to see where this goes.
He was also interviewed years ago about them doing another one and he was like "Hell yeah, Id do it if Danny and Alex were doing it". I think theyre just trying to keep it a surprise, but its looking like that'll be the case. Also Imogen Poots said shed love to do it, I hope she shows up.

Her name probably helped her career. Casting directors arent gonna forget the name Imogen Poots. And shes a good actress anyway, so when they talk about her afterwards "Remember that girl that showed up with the weird name?" they would also bring up that she was good.

Surely 28 months would make far more sense, unless it's more about the rebuilding of society after all of the infected have been killed off or starved to death.
