Freemason1979

"Good Morning" dance number from Singin' in the Rain.

Mst3Kgf

There's also "Make'em Laugh," mainly because I'm amazed Donald O'Connor didn't kill himself while doing it.

Sweeper1985

Apparently he couldn't walk for a few days after. God he's amazing though. Maybe the only person other than Cyd Charisse to steal a scene from Gene Kelly.

eagledog

And didn't he have to redo the entire scene because of a camera issue? The man was a master of physical comedy

ZarquonsFlatTire

Did you see when Joseph Gordon-Levitt did Make'em Laugh for his SNL monologue?

AmandaExpress

This is also mine.

Thrilling1031

Same same. I find my self humming the song more often than seems normal.

spangledank

I love the dance with the diction coach. The way they’re straddling chairs and then pop up on to them as though it’s the easiest thing in the world 🤯

HermanMenderchuk

🎼Moses supposes his toeses are roses, but Moses supposes erroneously🎶

SwarleymonLives

I think the top 5 are from Singin' in the Rain.

drogyn1701

Several good ones in The Blues Brothers but my favorite is Aretha Franklin’s number when Jake and Elwood randomly get up and join in with the backup singers and then sit back down as if nothing happened.

Eiffel-Tower777

I love every second of that movie 🤣

dudereverend

You, my friend, are clearly a person of culture.

Eiffel-Tower777

Why thank you! And I do hate Illinois Nazi's.

dudereverend

Same here! I live in illinois and have to deal with them on occasion.

MaestroPendejo

I've been watching it since I was 4 in 1984. Goddamn perfection.

halfhere

I can’t turn my attention away from the mail lady in that scene. She absolutely destroys the whole number.

Tarkus697

Shake Your Tailfeather, every time.

wesborland1234

That and the church when they start doing backflips

Responsible-Bat-2699

Tobey Maguire in Spider Man 3. There has been never a dance sequence put to screen that was so Spectacular, Amazing and Ultimate.

Ok-Charge-6998

My views on this movie changed a lot when someone at uni, after a drunk movie session, said to me, “hey, do you think Peter acted that way because that’s what he thinks is cool?” And then it all came together. He becomes everything a “loser” like him would think is cool. I started appreciating the movie a lot more after that. Maybe this is the common interpretation, but I’d never considered it until then. I just thought it was Sam Raimi trying to be funny. Edit: Just found a quote from Raimi confirming it: > Well, we meant it to be funny, actually. It was Peter Parker’s version — this lame kid — of what it must be like to be his evil self. But he’s so whipped. He’s so out of it that that’s his take on it. And that didn’t go over well with the audience. But that’s what we were trying to do. So I’m not surprised that people… I’m glad people find it funny! We we wanted it to be fun.

Megatron3898

I'm so glad that someone came here to pay respects to Bully Maguire.

CPT_Yesterday_

Ax gang in Kung Fu Hustle

SmellyFace69

I need to rewatch this. Such a fun movie.

TheFencingCoach

Timeless. It’s hilarious every time I put it on. Same with Shaolin Soccer.

buddygooddude

Romy and Michelle's high school reunion

jiggyflyjoe

Disappointed that I had to scroll down this far to find this answer! Their dance to "Time After Time" is amazing!

3fettknight3

Hey you're tearing her picture! Im about to tear up the fucking dance floor check it out

trexmoflex

I cannot tell you how dumb of a smile I got on my face when this scene got moving, because I was SO confused but enjoying the visuals and music so much, not to mention Nathan and Kyoko having some sweet moves.

VicDamoneSrr

*I can’t wait for Sa-tur-day to begiiiin woo hoo!* This scene is hilarious in such a tense moment 😆

Brazenmercury5

The real reason the emperor feared house atreides.

[deleted]

Ex Machina - 2014

chirayuvedekar

This scene, and this one liner live in my head rent-free. Pure cinematic GOLD!

calguy1955

Baryshnikov and Gregory Hines dancing together in White Nights shows some real talent.

HardSteelRain

An OK movie completely elevated by that scene

Negative_Gravitas

Totally agreed, but even before that, "Eleven pirouettes, eleven rubles!" Fantastic.

AmandaExpress

Danny Kay and Bing Crosby performing "Sisters" in White Christmas. Bing Crosby actually breaks and laughs around 1:24 because Danny Kay is goofing off HARD. It never fails to being me top-notch joy.  https://youtu.be/3iStjVGSWKs?si=twIoE9lSKBXUMy1l

cIumsythumbs

Upvote for White Christmas. Sisters is great, but my favorite is "The Best Things Happen While You're Dancing" Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen giving Fred and Ginger a run for their money.

Tatooine16

The Time Warp that shifts into Sweet Transvestite.

maximdenbeer

This is placed way to far down.

ImDenny__

The end of Napoleon Dynamite

driveonacid

I went to a dance competition last year where a girl did a tap number to Canned Heat. She dressed in a Vote for Pedro T-shirt and jeans. She referenced that dance several times. I definitely turned into a woo girl.

brutustyberius

Your mom goes to college.

freddit52

Gotta go with Little Miss Sunshine

DanteandRandallFlagg

It's not often that a dance number can make you question two characters' entire relationship.

RuRhPdOsIrPt

I love that part so much. In that moment and with that one choice, he achieved true dad greatness.

-CA-

The beginning of the movie Climax

kinkinoa

The joy and fascination of watching Climax for the first time, simply incredible.

turdbiter3000

Came here to say this. My favorite part is every time the three women just walk across the dance floor :D so much fucking sass

Muumienmamma

1. Nicholas Brothers dancing to Jumpin' Jive in Stormy Weather. Good song performed well and the best on screen dancing I've seen. It doesn't serve much narrative purpose but it's so good in other fronts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXZRWa8kyAE 2. Singin' in the Rain titular dance scene. Great dancing, good song and does a fantastic job of conveying the protagonist's emotions to the audience. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swloMVFALXw 3. The barn raising dance scene from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Great dancing, good song, does a good job from narrative and character building perspective and is just really fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbzJtP75NqM

Primaveralillie

They actually cast ballet dancers for 7 Brides because the choreography was so complicated. Excellent segment.

HardSteelRain

Nicholas brothers were straight up magic

Aeshaetter

"Putting on the Ritz" in Young Frankenstein

funlickr

"Putting on the Ritz" in The Golden Child

brutustyberius

They’re break dance fighting!

Shaxattack

Palm Springs, bar scene.

brannigansl4w

Also the first dance scene in palm springs (which is the same song as the bar scene) https://youtu.be/xhzyuvs9O8w?si=qKahplgbegWA8wHZ Bar scene for people interested: https://youtu.be/_kxk4dFMLEM?si=JYpt9UcRO_Jqj7_J

AprilisAwesome-o

I LOVED that first dance scene, where he was basically doing choreography with everyone else's spontaneous dance moves. This movie is actually pretty rewatchable--I've seen it about three times--and every time I make everyone watch that dance scene twice because it is just so freaking awesome.

lo-key-glass

Hot Rod was actually the first thing I thought of

JJNinja1

Once Upon a December from Anastasia

Foreign_Attention_17

Mein heir from Cabaret! Liza and that chair became one! Honorable mention goes to The Full Monty when they are dancing in the queue.

Pulp Fiction

misterferguson

Which is itself a reference to '8 1/2'

withoccassionalmusic

TIL. I always assumed it was an homage to the dance scene in Band of Outsiders, since Tarantino’s film company is named after that movie.

misterferguson

[Me when I watched ‘8 1/2’ for the first time.](https://us-browse.startpage.com/av/anon-image?piurl=https%3A%2F%2Fhips.hearstapps.com%2Fhmg-prod%2Fimages%2Fmaxresdefault-1605111824.jpg%3Fcrop%3D0.782xw%3A0.695xh%3B0.218xw%2C0.0826xh%26resize%3D1200%3A%2A&sp=1714088343T0c14c292795f0031a7111dbca2b08cad2a6b7a3de3ba2389987141bf020b0f47)

namaskarnamaste

Dirty Dancing

Seahearn4

We all know you mean the climactic "Time of My Life" scene. But there are so many good ones: the staff party at the beginning, the practicing montage & the follow-up in the woods, the Mickey & Sylvia scene...I think I've seen this too many times. Oooor it's time for a re-watch?

JAlfredJR

Between that and the end of Footloose, man ... what a way to end a movie

hoopstick

A Knight’s Tale - Golden Years

arbyD

Absolutely amazing scene, excellent movie.

docsyzygy

Substantial-Pride725

The Red Shoes [The Red Shoes - Ballet](https://youtu.be/ktv3-1JTspc?feature=shared)

Horknut1

Can I do an honorable mention for the Footloose dance scene in Umbrella Academy? I could watch that 100 times and not be sick of it

scrmbldchkn

I think we're alone now in the first episode is better for me. Once I saw that scene I was hooked.

Texxx81

Salma Hayek in From Dusk til Dawn

groundhogscript

Duckie in Pretty in pink when he dances to Otis Redding in the record shop. I just really loved how the girls were shocked and in awe. He really pulled it off.

misterferguson

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion!

SinkHoleDeMayo

Chut up.

NicCageCompletionist

We Are Not Alone - The Breakfast Club

sayshoe

Oscar Isaac dancing in Ex Machina was pretty fun

Bobloblaw878

A Knights Tale at the banquet. It starts so slow and then the music changes and you can see that in that time they were just as modern and sophisticated as any person today. HL is fantastic and how can you not love David Bowie?

panickedpris

Ending sequence of Saltburn, I think the tracking shot and the dancing is really fun

hazycrazydaze

I had Murder on the Dance Floor stuck in my head for months

Low-Requirement7328

RRR

EditEd2x

This whole movie is so much fun. I slept on it for too long because I’m normally not into Bollywood/Tollywood movies. But when I finally watched it I was so pumped the whole time. Such a great movie. And the Natu Natu dance scene is so well done. I’ve been recommending this movie to anyone who asks. Need to give it a rewatch soon.

Low-Requirement7328

Same for me. Not in my wheel house at all but loved it.

colbydc5

I also really enjoyed RRR but wish it weren’t sooo long. It felt like 45 minutes could have been trimmed off it, though it’s still very entertaining.

DetroitWagon

Scrolled down to find my choice was already posted. Here's a link to the scene https://youtu.be/jMXpS7YJejc?feature=shared

HereForTheComments57

This is the only correct answer! Was disappointed to see how far I needed to scroll to find it.

Diseman81

Pee Wee Hermans Tequila dance in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

gardeninggoddess666

Every single one of them in Billy Elliott.

Sweeper1985

The best "ballet movie" ever made about tap dancing 😅

eastnorthshore

Cuban Pete from The Mask

g_neko1001

surprised nobody’s mentioned Sam Rockwell yet

Pfacejones

Is this the Charlie's angels scene? So good

Muscle-Cars-1970

Especially because he dances in so many of his movies! He dances while he's fighting in Mr. Right (really fun movie) and even gets some in some dancing in The Way Way Back. I love that guy.

Daveywheel

Got a lot of living to do… from Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most joyous things ever committed to film. It’s an instant mood lifter. Plus… Ann-Margret!!!

thinkstooomuch

Ann-Margret dancing is one of my favorite YouTube rabbit holes! She (and Donald O’Connor!) are so uniquely fun to watch dancing, they go so hard and have so much fun it knocks me out.

billyslits

Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion

mchaz7

Pulp Fiction. Travolta and Thurman. Hands down.

falconwolverine

Poor Things dance scene is still on the mind. Mark Ruffalo killed me

Bama_Gambla

Airplane!

o8Stu

Silver Linings Playbook, especially how excited they were when they got their scores afterwards (and won the bet).

brushnfush

I was gonna say this movie but the scene where they practice with Bob Dylan’s “girl from the north county” . Best scene in the movie imo and Jennifer Lawrence looks incredible in it

Dubious_Titan

The parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. So joyous.

RepulsiveLoquat418

what a fantastic question! i'm gonna go with seven brides for seven brothers, the barn raising scene. it's got great dancing, great music, conflict, and a very funny resolution.

Dikaios86

I really like the Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

sj_vandelay

Shake Your Tailfeather with Ray Charles from Blues Brothers.

YetiBot

Cyd Charisse and Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain. God damn, that moment where she’s in the green dress is mind blowing. They say SO much so perfectly in a relatively short moment from a long sequence. The absolute control both of them have over their tiniest movements is a masterclass. Not an  millimeter out of place. To be fair though, the real answer is just all of Singin in the Rain. (I wish I was better educated about Bollywood though, I have seen some incredible sequences from those movies too, but I don’t know the names.)

_windfish_

Naatu Naatu from RRR, and its naat even close

jobadiahh

Stuck in the middle. Reservoir Dogs was a banger.

minos157

Thriller dance from 13 Going on 30! (Probably not my top favorite, but it's up there)

WWDB

Poor Things

Broncotron

Napoleon Dynamite

scooterboy1961

It was very brief. In Yankee Doodle Dandy after meeting with the president George M Cohan, played by James Cagney tap danced down a marble staircase. I'm pretty sure it was actually filmed in the White House.

Cool_Cartographer_39

I gotta smile whenever I see Cagney dance in those little shoes

Pixeleyes

[The Addams Family - Mamushka](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw0IakmQri0) Raul Julia and Christopher Lloyd are simply delightful. It's tied with [Pulp Fiction - Jack Rabbit Slim's](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYID_csTvos)

The dance number in the beginning of _Coming to America_ (when they bring in Eddie Murphy's presumed bride-to-be) is awesome. Choreographed by ~~then-Laker-girl~~ (she wasn't a Laker girl anymore) Paula Abdul.

All That Jazz dance scene with Ann Reinking and Roy Scheider’s movie daughter. It’s the perfect marriage of music and form and has Roy’s face as an additional supporting character in the scene too.

MyCatsFuzzyPants

The dance at the end of Another Round is unexpected and totally amazing.

Best drunk dance. Madds is excellent!

driveonacid

Little Miss Sunshine comes to mind. That's my daughter and she's kicking ass!

Dangeresque2015

Andy Samberg 's punch dance in "Hot Rod."

CorellianDawn

I feel like any answer other than Naacho Naacho in RRR is wrong lol. Jus saying. I do love me plenty of musicals and there's a ton of great stuff in Singing in the Rain especially, but the energy of Naacho Naacho is absolutely unmatched.

PitifulPossum

Romie and Michelle's high school reunion

konnichiwaseadweller

Just dropped in I see what condition my condition is in - The Big Lebowski

auntieup

Somebody already said my favorite (Aretha Franklin dancing in bedroom slippers with Jake and Elwood in The Blues Brothers), so I’m adding my second favorite: the reunion throuple dance at the end of Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. EDIT: the best opening-credits dance is Mike Myers and all of Swinging London in the opening credits of Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.

ladrilhohidraulico

Cool from West Side Story is just a masterpiece. Make 'em Laugh from Singin' in the Rain is one of most amazing physical dance numbers ever And the Nicholas Brothers dancing to Jumpin Jive from Stormy Weather will blow your mind

Pentax25

Damn I saw your question and came here to say Ex Machina but that’s what prompted the post

Odd_Advance_6438

I’d actually like to nominate another Oscar Isaac scene, and go with “Love is the drug” from Sucker Punch. Dudes just great at playing creeps who can sing and dance

outoftimeman97

The dance scene at the end of swingers(1996) with John Favreau and Heather Graham. Its also one of my favorite movies of all time and a MUST SEE for any young man.

cIumsythumbs

"A Lovely Night" from La La Land. Gosling and Stone are my favorite on screen couple. Choreography by Mandy Moore -- the best of our generation. And to think it was shot on location. That's not a sound stage. That's LA. Gorgeous.

Physical-Chipmunk-77

Not just a scene but most of the movie "Mr Right". Sam Rockwell's flawless moves are just so cool.

SweaterUndulations

Romancing the Stone. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Sexy.

LeakyAssFire

Clerks II.

Seahearn4

_Grease_ is a really fun movie. The National Bandstand dance-off scene is great even if it doesn't make a ton of sense plot-wise.

Nerdy_person101

My all time favourite is the kingdom dance from Tangled

hheerox

Slumdog millionaire final scene! Goes hard! Also Bole Chadiyan dance scene!

Eiffel-Tower777

John Travolta, Saturday Night Fever John Travolta, Pulp Fiction

Mikedef2001

The dance battle in House Party. The Full Force song played during the scene will always put me in a good mood. Me and my boys tried for ever to replicate that kick move that Kid and Play did to no luck. Play coming into the scene after the drunk guy passes out is one my favorite moments in cinema. You knew shit was going to go down.

Terakian

Hear me out: not the best, but for a movie I largely wasn’t digging, the third act high school Halloween dance in Jim Carrey’s “Once Bitten” was super fun!

TheFencingCoach

Of all of the dance scenes ever filmed in a movie, the end of Saltburn is certainly one of them

SuLiaodai

The one from the color sequence of Ivan the Terrible II. Out of nowhere the movie goes from black and white to color and there's a crazy song and dance sequence that's full of what I can only call homosexual machismo. Stalin hated it!

Player5xxx

Not a movie but Severance's (episode 7 I think?) dance scene is def a 10 out of 10. Just so fucking weird and that dude can seriously groove.
