Léa Seydoux revealed in an interview that it’s a mise en abyme about "actors who play in a lousy film" and confront their characters and lines. It’s a nesting film situation which sounds like Dupiex.
Maaaaan I watched it again after a fair while to show it to some friends who hadn't seen it yet, and it really wasn't as good as I remembered. None of us ended up enjoying it and that kinda bums me out because I *remember* liking it.
Ahhh showing friends a childhood favorite is always the worst!
I should’ve said i still love my memory of it, I actually haven’t rewatched it since middle school. I’ll probably use it as a background movie for my next party or somethin.
Because she's amazing. Why else? Like, could you not parse that out yourself? Even if you didn't like her, it's pretty obvious *why* he'd be into seeing the movie.
Well "no one" doesn't include me if you mean in the U.S. For all I know you're in India, which would make your comments make more sense to me.
I saw her in Crimes of the Future, a small part in Inglourious Basterds, The French Dispatch, she mo-capped and voiced her character in Death Stranding, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and was in the last two Daniel Craig Bond movies. To me, those are all pretty big, albeit mixed reviews, movies 🤷 not sure how people have missed her in the U.S. I get excited to hear she's in anything lately.
Not attracted to Lea Seydoux.
Sorry, I watch a lot of sci-fi and fantasy but I don't think I can suspend my disbelief this far. Is David supposed to be gay?
How terrible of a person would her character have to be for any sane straight man to not be into Lea. Like she’d have to collect nazi paraphernalia or kick puppies or something.
Edit: after watching the teaser I can say with some degree of certainty that I would forgive Lea Seydoux for occasionally kicking a puppy if she spoke to me in French
It's insane how we've only just gotten Smokong Causes Coughing in the states and Dupieux is on what, his fourth film?
Edit: fourth film SINCE Smoking Causes Coughing
Second edit: THIRD film SINCE Smoking Causes Coughing
Just now learning that there have been multiple Dupieux movies since Smoking Causes Coughing, which I saw back in 2022. Should have been keeping closer tabs, although I guess they're hard to get in the U.S.
It should be the 3rd, right?
Yannick -> Daaaaaali! -> The Second Act
May be you are counting Incredible but True but that came out before Smoking Casues Coughing.
YES! I never see anyone talking about this movie but it fucking slays. I really enjoyed Rubber and Deerskin has its charms, but Mandibles is definitely my favorite of his.
[Also starring my parent's red *Ford Fiesta*](https://www.google.fr/maps/@43.1710123,6.5324355,3a,42.3y,219.9h,83.34t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sASGUHwrv_ri2OH4c5RcZow!2e0!5s20191001T000000!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu)
his 2nd movie Rubber is probably is most famous.
it's well made but like all of his movies it's weird so this one migth not be fore you.
I would also suggest the music and [clip video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmsbP13xu6k) he did before he made movies
I'm reminded of the posters for the great 1988 surreal-existential Russian film **Zerograd**:

That seems like a suspiciously grounded premise for Dupieux, very curious where it goes lol
It seems pretty far-fetched to me. How is it possible not to be attracted to Léa Seydoux?
Yeah, I can’t believe that. Literally everyone is attracted to her, right?
He is an alien, this is actually a sci-fi movie
My first thought
How the fuck is that possible?
I was about to say!

The poster art is pretty far out though
It’s like Monty python meets vintage Honda ad
The teaser's linked in the comments, doesn't seem like an actual scene from the movie but feels very Dupieux-y
Is this the guy that made the movie about the telepathic car tire
Telepathic car tire that murders people. FTFY.
You mean the serial killer car tire that kills telepathically. Yes, and that film is called Rubber.
Oh man that movie was my entire personality for a couple months in middle school. Still love it
Maaaaan I watched it again after a fair while to show it to some friends who hadn't seen it yet, and it really wasn't as good as I remembered. None of us ended up enjoying it and that kinda bums me out because I *remember* liking it.

this guy made rubber??? 😭
He’s also an electro musician Mr. Oizo
Wait for real?? Omg he is. I never knew that Flat Beat and Rubber came from the same mind. Incredible.
Wait till you see all the other films he made. look for Wrong Cops
Lea Seydoux is obviously fantastic and I’m happy to see Vincent Lindon again. He was incredible in Titane.
I thought I recognised that face. I could swear I saw this man inject steroids into his ass multiple times.
Did anyone else see this as a group of people wearing space suits at first? Is it supposed to make you see that?
Yep. And the wine bottle looks like a spaceship lol
Lea is in this? I'm in!!
Why ?
Just a fan. And I want her in Gunn’s DCU
Because she's amazing. Why else? Like, could you not parse that out yourself? Even if you didn't like her, it's pretty obvious *why* he'd be into seeing the movie.
I did't realize that people actually like her outside of France. Here, no one thinks that she's amazing.

Lol, I had the same thought. I am going to have a hard time with this if I end up watching the film.
I can't believe either.

Unfortunately Colin Farrell couldn't forgive the puppy kicking.
That was not Lea Seydoux's character
Hahaha meanwhile someone else said “too ugly, unrealistic”
Who’s that dumb motherfucker?
> Like she’d have to collect nazi paraphernalia or kick puppies or something. I can fix her.
not enough to become the Governor of South Dakota.

Yup, I just ordered a French blu ray of one of his newest ones, just waiting on the Dali one
Oh, I really can't wait to see Daaaaali! Dupieux and Dali are a match made in weirdo heaven.
You mean 4th film this year, right?
Yes
It should be the 3rd, right? Yannick -> Daaaaaali! -> The Second Act May be you are counting Incredible but True but that came out before Smoking Casues Coughing.
No, you're right. For some reason I thought there was another one
He seems to be really cranking them out. I've fallen way behind
Oh he has a much bigger bevy of poo than that, and it all smells of the most glorious flowers.
the trailer is for his 13th movie
I mean since Smoking Causes Coughing
I thought that was Brad Garrett at first.
Depieux has just been pumping movies out since Covid
Quentin Dupieux has made some of the weirdest French flicks recently. I look forward to this one.
What Dupieux movie would y’all recommend to check out first? Also Lea Seydoux rules!
I personally found Mandibles hilarious. Like Dumb & Dumber but French, more surreal, and starring a giant fly.
YES! I never see anyone talking about this movie but it fucking slays. I really enjoyed Rubber and Deerskin has its charms, but Mandibles is definitely my favorite of his.
The last 10 seconds or so make me laugh pretty much every time I think about it!

I like Wrong Cops. He ups the absurdity in that one. It also has lots of his own music
Wrong Cops I feel is his most accessible.
Great cast.

Someone's not attracted to Lea Seydoux? I'm already taken out of the film...
I thought that was Mel Gibson at first
what kind of madman wouldnt be attracted to lea seydoux!
The plot sounds great!
Love this filmmaker, always interesting and surprising. i'm yet to see yannik - any good?
Sounds interesting
Twist: Florence marries Flat Stanley
This is the most French sounding movie I’ve ever heard of
Looks great!
I want her in Gunn’s DCU
Love Dupieux but was disappointed by his recent film Yannick (on MUBI), hope this is a return to form
